I have been bringing my car here for years. They are fast, friendly, thorough, and often under their own estimates.

I’ll start by saying that we can all agree any sort of car trouble or repairs is already stressful to begin with, right? Well, having your alternator belt quiet literally shred into pieces at 9pm at night while you’re driving home is even worse. At that time, we did not know what it was but we knew I couldn’t drive my car any further. My car was taken by tow up to Scotts Valley Transmission & Auto Care and dropped off that same night. By 2pm the next day I had a message from Brad letting me know the repairs were done and I could come pick up my car.
I was in shock. Here I thought it would take days to do the repairs and I’d be without a vehicle leaving me in a tight spot. Brad not only reassured me they would do everything they could to figure out exactly what needed to be done but would also be mindful of the need for me to have a vehicle back in a timely manner. I’m so impressed by this shop from start to finish. It’s hard to come across honest, efficient and reliable car repair shops nowadays and I can confidently say, I have now found my go-to!

Brad diagnosed our manual transmission truck's clutch issues correctly, quoted us a fair price and did the work quickly. The truck drives like new again. What more can you ask?

These guys, Brad in particular, saved us thousands of dollars. The dealer told us we needed a new transmission at a cost of about $13,000! We called SVT for a second opinion. Brad told us that flushing the transmission often solved the kind of problems we described and suggested we bring it in. We did. He checked the transmission fluid and told us it was fatigued and that for a very modest cost he could fix it. We gave him the go ahead and sure enough, it solved our problem. No new transmission required! Yet another example of why dealers have such shady reputations. We were very impressed with Brad's analysis and pinpoint diagnosis. It's so nice to find someone so knowledgeable and honest. We highly recommend SVT and will definitely use them again.

2023 Oct: multiple interactions over three years, still 5 stars for their value, professionalism, and integrity!

2023 Oct: We called in the morning to make appt for oil change & brake eval, they slotted us in that day! Nice diagnostics writeup. They machined rotors for a pulsation, said we could have the truck back that day with just the front rotors machined, but they felt there was still a slight pulsation from the rear so we left it with them overnight, got it back the next morning. And, they decided the rotor machining fell under their warranty so that part was no labor charge (I didn't ask, they proactively reviewed the service record). Also, Brad decided to go searching for a hard-to-find part to get rid of a leaf-spring squeak (that stuff can be tough to locate for an old vehicle). They don't normally work on trucks this old, but since we're a continuing customer they won't leave us "in the lurch" - nice!

2022 Sep: diagnostics on noises in 2008 Sienna; confirmed my suspicions (expensive transfer case and intermediate steering shaft) but reassured me about safety and gave me lots of discussion/advice about whether to do the repairs at all

2021: new rotors and pads for our '99 F250. Brad was careful to figure out our truck's needs (horse-trailering), decided on some high-end parts, and estimated a price which was slightly less than other mechanics who suggested using mid-range "OEM" parts. I needed to shift the appointment around, they accommodated, then got us in and out in one day. They checked brake fluid and decided against exchanging it (which I had pre-authorized) and they undershot their estimate by about 10% (nice surprise!)

Aug 2020: rebuilt our '99 F250 SuperDuty 4x4 diesel's trans (in the midst of the Lightning Complex fires!) and as of Oct 2023 rebuild is still good, doing frequent horse-trailering duty

I could not recommend this shop enough! The best around in my opinion. I spent over $1k at the Mercedes dealership, problem not fixed. Another shop denied there being a problem. Brought my ML350 in here, and problem immediately fixed. Any time my car has an issue, they never fail to identify the problem and fix. Brad is simply the best! The customer service is excellent. His team is trustworthy and accommodating. You will never be disappointed here. Always a positive experience!

The mechanics and SV Transmission are trustworthy and very skilled which is rare to come by when finding a mechanic these days. I’d know because I have a 2004 Subaru Forester that’s been randomly overheating, but showing no signs of head gasket failure. Because of this, I’ve been to 4 mechanics who couldn’t find the issue but still charged me for repairs that never seemed to contribute to the real problem. In huge contrast, Scott’s Valley Transmission took care of my car as if it were their own. Brad checked my car and found that the previous owner used silicone to repair the original head gaskets instead of replacing the whole thing. No other mechanics saw this and I’ve been to 4 now, I wish I came to them first! He also took me in last minute when I saw more problems arise and has been persistent to find the root issues and fix them for a very fair price. He didn’t even charge me for all the work he’s done. He’s also been very gracious with his time by squeezing me in on very busy days. It’s amazing to feel taken care of and confident in their work and diagnoses.

Brad exceeded all expectations, was a wizard at diagnosing my issues, and charged me a very reasonable fee for his services. I recommend him heartily.

Great Shop. Good people. They've put a new Head Gasket in my 2003 Ford F250 with a 195,000 miles on it. The Truck runs like new now. You pop the hood it's clean & looking good. So happy to find a good shop to take my vehicles to. I'm happy to give anyone the reference of Scotts Valley Transmission great shop thanks again guy's for making my old truck run like new again

Solved (what looked like a big) problem quickly and efficiently no BS, no runaround, top quality.

Took both of my cars here. One of them had been making a very loud noise for a couple of years, the other one for a couple of months. Previously had gone to 2 different places in campbell and San Jose and asked them to drive the car to figure out what was going on and they told me everything was fine (probably didn’t even drive the car) and charged me for a cabin filter change.
When I brought my cars to this shop, they figured out the problem (wheel bearing issues) within an hour, fixed it the same day and it’s like driving a completely different car. On top of that, they were very clear in explaining it all. Much respect to Brad and the people here. There’s no nonsense with this shop. Very straightforward and I’ll keep bringing my cars back here. Thanks again.

I had Scotts valley transmission do a inspection on my work van. They performed everything i asked, pointed out a few areas that needed attention, including pictures of a small leak. Great honest shop, i will return for future repairs.
