Seven Seas Roasting Company reviews
14 Solid coffee shop in South Park that I visit often, but could use improvement mostly around service.
For me, the perfect coffee shop experience includes a well-made cappuccino (ample foam, just a small amount of steamed milk, quality espresso, not offered in S, M, L… because that’s not how cappuccinos work) served in a real cup when ordered for “here” plus a freshly warmed, beautifully flaky pastry with at least one or two savory options. Offer a great cold brew for warmer days, and you’ve got my ideal coffee shop.
Seven Seas has all of these elements, but unfortunately you can’t get them all at the same time. Cappuccinos are on point and served in lovely mugs, but they are not willing to warm up pastries for patrons enjoying them there. So you can take it home and warm it up yourself, contending with the to-go cup for your beverage, or eat their delicious pastries cold (they’re fine that way, but sooo much better freshly warmed).
The staff can be hit or miss - most are lovely and friendly, a couple do have that “we’re cooler than you because we work at a hipster coffee shop” vibe.
There are often pop up food vendors out front on the weekends, and I really like their space and decor. Gets busy at times, but they do a good job of moving through the line and getting orders out quickly.
Came in and ordered a latte with regular (whole) milk
the perfect ratio, not overwhelmingly liquidy, the right amount to balance the toasty espresso.loves it
Cool little coffee shop and cool atmosphere. The baked goods are really good. Coffee is very mediocre. I wish they would step up their hot chocolate game. I never thought I'd had bland hot chocolate before. I gave it a couple of visits before I came to this conclusion. If you want basic coffee and/or bland hot chocolate, this is place.
Employees are super nice and helped me with picking out a drink! Very quick as well and happily answered all my questions, definitely recommend:)
Whenever I’m in San Diego I ALWAYS make sure to swing by Seven Seas. They have an awesome menu, very nice employees, and a great ambiance at the shop. I usually go with a cold brew or iced americano but the lavender honey latte and cinnamon honey latte are awesome. My girlfriend loves the matcha latte too. Their food options are great as well like the avocado toast and the rosemary sea salt bagel.
Did not enjoy our experience unfortunately. The baristas were not polite to us, both the pastries we got were extremely stale to the point of being inedible, and the espresso was pulled poorly, not very tasty at all. Had good reviews but was disappointed, lots of much better options for coffee and pastries in the area.
They took like 8-9 minutes to make my vanilla latte cause they forgot, Mind you i was waiting there and they saw me but never asked anything… until I brought it up to them. And to make things worse they made my latte with whole milk when I clearly asked for oatmilk. I choose not to go back because I was in a rush and because it wasn’t even worth my time.
Food and coffee were tasty, but the service needs some improvement. The first time we went there, they told us we couldn't order any food because they were too busy and didn't have staffing for the kitchen. When we went back a couple days later to pick up an online order, they didn't have one of the items (even though it was listed). They said someone should have spoken to us about it, but we didn't get a call from them until AFTER we had already left the shop.
Of the order we did manage to get, they were still missing the coconut bacon add-on we had paid for. It took over 30 minutes for us to finally leave the shop with our order.
Additional notes: One of the staff members was moderately polite but dismissive; one was friendly; and the other two were busy talking with one another. It wasn't clear why there were so many workers, especially since they didn't all help when there were many customers present.
The best roaster in San Diego. Excellent decaf, which is rare. Perfectly balanced flavors in their coffees and killer micro foam in milk drinks.
Local business roasting coffee on premises. Serve interesting hot / cold drinks as well as a few pastries and sandwiches.
Super nice staff. In- and outdoor seating.
Stopped by here for the first time today with my girlfriend, very impressed. Cute little coffee shop with great ambiance. Coffee was great and it carries such a friendly vibe. Pet friendly and a great spot to start your day at. Loved the aquarium in the wall! Will definitely come back next time I was a nice craft coffee.
Amazing coffee! I loved their macadamia nut milk cappuccino and I got a really yummy bag of beans for my pour over at home! The barista was super helping find the best blend. Highly recommend stopping by
Enjoyed a really excellent pour over here. The staff was kind and the space had about a dozen comfortable seats for sitting and working.
Despite being an advocate for local commerce, yesterday was my last visit of dozens. Shame! Considering the quality of the coffee and food served here deserve five stars. The customer service is horrendous (with the exception of one fellow who helped me twice some time ago.) My partner and I have agreed that baristas are condescending about menu questions and make the approaching customer feel like an inconvenience. Since I refuse to not tip, I’d rather take my business elsewhere.
