Shangri-la Fair Oaks reviews
21We had our office Christmas party here. Great food, service, and atmosphere! I had the salmon entree, amazing!
The food is good, but the prices are extremely high. The nearly $18 grilled cheese sandwich did not taste like a $7.00 one. The cocktails are delicious and priced high, but worth it. The ribs were tiny and sparse but good. Fun atmosphere and great staff.
Great food at a reasonable price we went there on date night we loved it will definitely go back
You place your food order at the bar, for some reason the bartender was very rude, not sure if she was trying to be rude or if that's just how she is. I ordered a chicken Caesar salad I asked if it was grilled chicken she said yes. When I got my food it was not grilled it was boiled cold chicken. I went and told what ended up being the manager at the bar about it, he said we don't serve grilled chicken. The bar tender that took my order looked surprised that they don't serve grilled chicken and said "yeah sorry about that" the manager handed me a menu and said can I get you something else. I said no I just deal with it and eat it. I sat down and started eating, he then walked up and handed me a gift card for 10bucks and said thanks for being a good sport about it. The salad cost about $21 that 10dollar gift card was more of an insult then anything. I was being on my best behavior because I had company with me. Next time I won't be so nice, sport
Major Pros: Five star food. Very flavorful but not overpowering. I highly recommend the steak. They change the cut regularly, I got a strip.
Five star service. I love that they leave large bottles of water at your table to refill when you want to. Even with this, the server came back more than most other restaurants. Just the right amount.
Great ambience. Feels like you're at a hip pool party in the 60s or something, but in a modern way.
Cons: even with all the major pros, I had to remove a star for some big cons. Man they have some strict rules around the bocce ball. Can't play on the court until every person in your party is completely finished, completely, with bill closed out. I get it if they were super busy, but they weren't. The court just sat there empty while we ate.
20% mandatory tip for parties of 6 or more. The guy deserved a great tip, but I should be able to make that choice. Large parties of 8+ makes some sense, but 6.that's not even that large.
3% added on to pay for service staff healthcare. That's great and all, but just add it into the cost of food. These extra fees are killing me.
No split plates and charge us extra per person when we bring our own dessert. I hate these places that nickle and dime.
Shangri-La is my favorite go to restaurant in Fair Oaks! From their savory dishes, their delicious drinks where they add the perfect amount of fine finishing details, and their exceptional customer service is paramount to having an enjoyable time each and every time here. This place is huge! Their outdoor seating is like an oasis of fun times equipped with backyard games. Come one or come all, EVERYONE is welcome. Dietary needs? They have something for everyone. Their concept of pleasing their customers’ palette and the relaxed vibe makes this my home away from home. I highly recommend this place for ALL!
I felt like I was on the set of the Barbie movie, it was so fun! Like a little get away to relax and have some good food around some friendly people. The service was immaculate and I loved the Fried Chicken! My mom got some coconut rice and it was amazing! I ate the rest of hers after I ate my own entree, the whole experience was so tasteful!
Atmosphere is great. Outside seating is awesome and inside is very cool too. Food was pretty but tasted pretty average. Server was helpful but hyped the food a little too much. I’d go back because it’s a fun vibe.
Shangri-la Fair Oaks-far from paradise
AMBIANCE: Nice. Dog-friendly, palm trees and hanging lights, gas-fire, bocce set-up- it's a place that sells to people who want to impress their 1st date and other folks who wish for an outdoor Hyatt Dining experience. Too bad the food and drinks are so mediocre. And did I mention the pretentiousness of this place?
FOOD: Mediocre/Disappointing.
$20 burger and fries are comparable to The Habit-except The Habit's fries are not gonna have you avoid dipping your fries in ketchup due to over-salted taters. Go to Burgers & Brew instead for better burgers and less pretension. Better yet, go to In N Out. $46 steak was high in sodium and low in desire. Caesar Salad was surprisingly disappointing. For one, the croutons had NO flavor- they legit tasted like toasted cubed bread with no seasoning. The salad was parmesan-heavy to make up for the mediocre salad dressing. Costco's Caesar Salad (the ones they sell in the large plastic container by the chicken tastes better). And my son's Fish & Chips-tasteless fish and oversalted chips.
DRINKS: Incredibly diabetic tasting (at least for the cocktail). Every sip left you thinking-wow, this is really syrupy. Ice becomes your cocktail companion.
KID-FRIENDLY: NO. You get the impression that they are politely trying to make this into a "No kids allowed" place when you read the fine print that's outlined on the menu. Kids are to be accompanied by an adult at all times (which I'm fine with), parties can asked to leave if the children are judged to be disruptive. The gesture is there by having a kids' menu but children are generally expected to be seen and not heard.
EMPLOYEE-SUPPORTIVE: NO. Dude, diners bear the burden of providing health insurance for Shangri-la's employees because the owners are apparently too broke to provide basic needs to their workers. Read the fine print. 3% will be added to your bill to foot the cost of providing health insurance to Shangri-la's service workers.
Do I recommend this place? No. This place is such an eye-roll (and I never thought I would describe a restaurant in this manner until now).
I'm not the biggest fan of the NY Steak, and still not. The chimichurri was great, though. Other than that, it was a great experience, and I'll be back.
Came here with my girl for our six year anniversary. The service was amazing and our server Kayley was great. She was really friendly and suggested good drinks to try. The Butchers Cut New York Steak was phenomenal and cooked perfectly. The fish taco was also really good and the salsa that came with the chips was delicious. However, when it came to the dessert it was pretty disappointing. We had the Peaches & Cream and neither of us enjoyed it. It came in a bowl with the smallest scoop of ice cream and 3 small bite size pieces of lemon pound cake and peaches. It was totally not worth the $13.50 and definitely should not even be on the menu and advertised as a "seasonal thing".
Very cool spot to hangout with friends and enjoy nice meals. They have an outdoor bar and seating area with a great environment. Highly recommend going in evenings and getting outside seating. Staff is awesome and they accommodated with our out of the box needs.
First time here and really enjoyed the ambience, food, and services. Recommend reservation and arrive early due to limited parking availability.
First time eating indoors here Pretty Cozy!
Bird's of Paradise! Cheers!
My fave.
Fantastic chill place, wait staff was lovely, food was lovely, the bar tender was amazing and best mojito I may have ever had.
Fried chicken meal is incredible. Ambience is fun and great to enjoy games with a group or a date.
Great vibe, two bocce ball courts, nice outdoor space, misters since its summertime, great background music. Indoor and outdoor bar and tables. Good food and drinks, quick and attentive service while not interrupting. Will be back
The atmosphere and food here is all top notch! Great place to get excellent cocktails made with all the finest ingredients. Definitely a must go for date nights in Fair Oaks/ Gold River/ Citrus Heights area
Love this plate. Their Salmon is amazing.cocktails are always fun and on point! They have options for everyone, from the sweet tooth, to the man drinks. Even fun slushies for the brave souls. Our server was absolutely wonderful and took really good care of us. Even gave us a makeshift photoshoot outside. I've never had a server be so much fun and willing to take that many pictures of us. She really made our time special. The owner of this place is awesome. I love that they take care of their employees and really care about the guests. Will absolutely be back. I love this place.
Our server, Ian, was wonderful! Over the top service. Food and drinks were amazing and the ambiance was great. We were on the patio and were very happy to have misters going since it was such a hot day.
