I would highly recommend Shawn's program to anyone. I was struggling after having a baby, I couldn't lose the baby weight, felt super anxious and tired- I didn't feel like myself and really wanted to prioritize my health not only for myself but for my new baby. Before I started working with Shawn I was killing myself in the gym and wasn't seeing any results- felt burnt out and frustrated, constantly tired and anxious.

I called Shawn and currently have been working with him for about 2 months. I am blown away on the results I have seen thus far and most importantly, how I feel. His program is nothing like I've ever done before. His holistic approach touches all critical points to make you feel your best and is custom to your needs.

In just 2 months I have lost 13 pounds, 3.5" inches around my stomach, have a much better understanding of a holistic approach to health. I sleep better and really have gotten my anxiety in a much better place.

I am so thankful for this program and the positive difference it has made in my life!

I have had several personal trainers throughout my life and my experience with Shawn has, by far, been the best out of all of them. This is because Shawn's approach is far more holistic than simply doing weights and gym training. For life-changing results, there are other, more important factors, like sleep and meditation that need to be explored. Shawn does this unlike other trainers and this is why I have seen better results than with those other trainers. For example, I was able to see my body start taking shape for the first time in my life and lift weights I was previously unable to lift. I also appreciate the fact that Shawn listens and responds well to questions, I am never afraid to ask him questions and this is one of my favorite things about him. Overall, he is not only an extremely educated and curious individual that knows what he is doing but he is also an overall great human being to learn from.

I'm sending a big thank you to Shawn, my personal trainer for the all directions and good advice he gave me during my sessions. I'm currently focused on sleep and fasting program, nutrition plans and getting personal training, and I have to confess that I have dropped over 15Ib in less than a month with a good health.

My overall experience with the training program was just amazing. Priceless.

I'm still on the plan to achieve my goal from size 44 to 28 and I have dropped now to size 34 in just 1st month.
The changes I've noticed in my appearance in my face, skin and losing extra pounds are unbelievable. I definitely suggest you guys to get appointment.

I barely could breath and walk and now I feel a great sleep and wake up with full energy every morning. My happy life is back. Thank you Shawn.

I had pain 24/7 in my knees and ankles and now I can walk with no pain.

Shawn has a holistic approach which includes nutrition, exercise, lab testing and holistic life coaching that helped me to get back to a comfortable life and work. My knees got the flexibility back and my breathing issues that was almost off, got back to normal.

Shawn's overall teaching style is life-saving and body-shaping. You will love yourself every second again.

I had a great experience with Shawn. Even though I have an extensive background in fitness and health, I was diagnosed with PTSD and needed extra support. Shawn is very up to date on science/wellness and uses an integrated approach to set his clients up for success. I really enjoyed dorking out with him on the data I was collecting on my heart rate and sleep cycles. I highly recommend Shawn if you are looking for overall health not just changing your physical appearance. Shawn is highly communicative and I interviewed him a few times before working with him to make sure it was a good fit and he really took the time out to talk and explain his process. High quality for sure!

I had an amazing personal trainer session with Jeremy Crill, who provided professional advice on diet and workout routine. Coach Crill went out of his way to offer me this complimentary session, because he wished to correct some errors in my posture while I was lifting on my own. While I still need some time to decide whether to purchase more trainer sessions with him, coach Crill was polite and understanding, never pushy. I highly recommend Jeremy Crill if you're thinking about getting personal trainer sessions-he's the best trainer I've had at fitness SF.

Love Gina's class in the mornings. I used to do TRX and was looking for an efficient, challenging work out that would get me stronger, get me lean, but not kill my wallet. I've been watching my body get stronger and stronger since I started going to Gina's class regularly. It can be a pain dragging myself to the gym at 7am, but her class keeps me going and I can't argue with progress.

This gym changed my opinion of gyms! I could never stick to them before. So thankful Matt convinced me to join. Their spin classes are AMAZING. Jules is the best instructor ever! Changed my workout life and has really motivated me to reach new heights. David is also a wonderful instructor - puts a ton of effort into his class themes:) (on the weekend). I highly recommend you check it out!

I hired a personal trainer at this gym a few months ago to learn my way around a gym. Gyms have always felt a bit intimidating to me, mostly because I didn't feel like I knew what I was doing, and didn't have a plan. The intention of getting a trainer was to fix that.

Follow up Review 11-6-19

This is a follow up to my previous review regarding Shawn Philips who is a personal trainer/nutritionist in Santa Monica. I see Shawn multiple times a week and my body and mind have continued to improve on an upward trajectory. In the last year my life has changed drastically for the better. Shawn helped to heal my mind and body well enough that I have been able to start dating, traveling, spending more time with friends and family after years of isolating behavior. I finally am starting to enjoy a normal life thanks to Shawn's mind and body training. I feel more comfortable about my body at the beach and elsewhere. My entire body has been changing for the better. In addition, my mind has improved as well. Thanks to Shawn, I am not reacting negatively to stress and have removed many unhealthy behaviors from my life. With Shawn focusing on Sleep, Diet, Confidence, Exercise, Supplementation, and Positive Response Training, I have been able to achieve a large amount of my goals. The best part is that I am not finished yet and continue to strive to improve. I highly and with a whole heart recommend Shawn's services if you are looking for an extremely unique and empathetic personal trainer in Santa Monica.

I have been working with Shawn for close to two years and I would highly recommend Shawn to anyone who not only wants to work on their physique, but wants to look at the root causes of why such a goal has not been achieved. Shawn is highly intelligent, well versed in nutrition and supplements, and most importantly empathetic. Shawn understands the challenges we all face in our quest to improve our minds and bodies. Shawn is not your typical trainer. A session with Shawn is not going to consist of lift this and lift that and nothing else. Shawn looks at your life circumstances, your nutrition, your genetics, your obstacles, and many more things. In my case, I have suffered from mental illness for the majority of my life. Shawn started to look at the biological root causes of my symptoms through review of my diet and calorie intake, several in depth tests, and referrals to additional professionals who could help me on my journey to a better body and mind. Shawn has graciously made himself available to me on off hours in order to provide additional support to me. I have made great progress with Shawn and honestly have never encountered a trainer quite like him. I am extremely grateful that I came across him and would highly recommend him to anyone who is seeking a full body and mind strengthening.

I have been going to fitness CA/golds since I moved to the city 2 years ago. It's a great facility and for a reasonable price. Always clean and the employess are very friendly. My trainer, Gerardo has been a great motivator to go to the gym. Definitely recommend this place to all my friends!

Perfect gym! The facility has all of the free weights, machines, and power lift areas one would need. For anyone interested in weight training, personal training sessions, or classes this gym is perfect. The facility is also very clean and isn't as packed as other gyms in the area. The price is hard to beat.

Shoutout to Melanie Levy for giving me a great deal! I will definitely return to Fitness SF next summer.

"I've always struggled finding motivation for workouts but Shawn adjusts each one to my energy level, mental state, and physical condition. I really enjoy coming to each session and feel so much better afterwards without feeling burnt out. I very much appreciate his well rounded approach - physical, diet, sleep habits, mental health and I'm excited to see how my body changes as we continue to work together. "

I am a 68 year old male and have been working with Shawn for 2 years. We designed a specific plan for me including special diet, cardio exercise, dealing with my lower back issues, and nutrition, etc. I have seen much improvement including my posture, my physique is more defined and am eating more nutritious foods including supplements, and healthy shakes. I can't recommend him more highly in that he identifies specifically what your issues are and designs a program according to what you need most. Thanks again for helping me live a more healthy and happy lifestyle. Les
