Sheng Kee Bakery #19 - Berkeley

As a freshman, SK Bakery has been a stable in the Berkeley experience. The pastries are delicious and affordable, ranging from green tea to red bean flavored. However, they have a $5 minimum purchase requirement for credit card users, which sometimes is inconvenient when I just want a $2 snack.

Good bakery items at a relatively cheap price near campus. I would recommend coming here if you want a quick small snack.

Got a sponge roll and found it was moldy. Went back for a replacement and refund and the store manager offer another one that was made yesterday. Guess what? ANOTHER moldy sponge roll.

Best bakery close to UCB. I love brownies, they just melt in the mouth. Also, love there chocolate cake and buns. Just delicious.

Their pasties are really good and I absolutely love how affordable they are compared to other bakeries. I love it. Quality is great and every day fresh pastries are being made. (I probably like it more than 85° Bakery)

Mkay so I go to a middle school near bye and me and my friends usually get boba once a week. As a teen we don’t want to spend so much money nor do we not want to freak ourselves. We usually go to the boba place across the street or to the other boba places that we thought were cheap. One day we decided to go to different store and we chose Sheng Kee. We didn’t know the prices of the pastries or boba so we thought it would be 6$ like the reg boba we get a different places. When we got their we saw the prices and we were totally shocked a reg was less then 4$. Since the boba was cheaper then the usual boba we get we thought it would be bad, but it was good. 1 of my friends preferred it more then the other boba places, but I think it’s really good for the price. I get that Sheng Kee is known for the bakery, but next time I recommend you getting the boba. Also the costumer service was really good. The lady recommended us what we should add to make it taste more sweet to our preferences. I really recommend this place. This will be he go to from now

I think my review is very similar with someone mentioned. I bought 3 pieces of breads and the casher charged me $11. She didn't give me the receipt after I paid for them. Thus, I asked her if I can have it. The terrible thing is that she blamed me Bla-Bla like I didn't show clear the breads. And she said one of the breads on the receipt is not mine and she have to recalculate it. The real money is only $8. If I just left the shop, then I would pay more for the breads. This was such a bad experience. If she is the boss (like more than 40 years old), then I suggest that she stops behaving in this shortsighted way to make money. If she is a casher, then I suggest that she should be more professional.

This review is for the cashier, not for the delicious bread. The cashier doesn't even check the number that he charges you. I bought 5 piece of bread, should be $10ish, he charged $15, and i asked him to double check, first he said it's $12 and then recalculated as $10, normally i don't check out the price but i would suggest you do before you pay because you don't donate free money just because someone doesn't know how to do their job properly.

I love this bakery so much. It has arguably one of the best and cheapest milk teas in Berkeley. Definitely recommend.

Cheap boba if you get it with a friend. I would like to purchase some snacks from here but many of the items have gelatin and sesame, of which I do not eat.

I have thoroughly enjoyed every single thing I bought here (which is a lot; such a convenient location for Berkeley students!). There is a lovely variety of treats, from sweet to savory, flaky to doughy to custardy; everyone can find something to devour. My roommates and I often buy their egg bread just to have nearby as a snack. Their prices are extremely reasonable and you really can't go wrong here. Definitely worth giving a try!

This is a busy location with a constant flow of customers. The issue is the quality- compared to another location, bread from this location has more oil/grease.
