Shin-Sen-Gumi Hakata Ramen West L.A. reviews
16The food was ok, in line with the affordable price point. However the Ramen appears to have given me food poisoning. Intended to come here to grab some broth for the cold weather, walked away with some stomach groans and complete food poisoning the next day.
I've enjoyed the famous hakata ramen on their anniversary weekend.it is not crowded as I expected. So no rush and no big crowd on both Saturday and Sunday.great service, friendly staff! Will come again!
The best ramen spot I’ve ever been to, hands down. Clean establishment, easy menu, great food.
Great place to get ramen, and they also can do to-go ramen! They also have outdoor dining available.
JAPAN WOULD NEVER!
Ramen is good service is great! But advertised as $13 a bowl but in reality w/ like 3-4 small little toppings extra expect to pay $26+ a bowl the bowls don't have many ingredients so they encourage add-ons 3 bowls and a yakitori plate ended up being $106 for that price I would of just ate else where:/ but understandable for West LA prices
Nice broth. Excellent service times. The spam musubi rice was a bit hard. I really liked the noodles texture.
Literally the best Ramen I've had in my life and I've tried A LOT of them. Everything was perfect. Now I go back home very sad because I'm not from L. A.: ' (
You can enjoy the taste of Japanese Hakata ramen itself. The staff at the restaurant were very kind and wrote down the hardness of the noodles, amount of oil, soup flavor, and toppings on the order form.
There seems to be a rather spicy version for foreigners, but I'll be looking forward to it next time.
I can hear voices from the kitchen saying ``Welcome'' and ``Thank you very much'' in Japanese.
Really unnecessary taste test, thin and thin taste, noodle very normal, hot water with salty taste, complete deep layer next, quality three bowl noodle required 80 beautiful gold! Not recommended!
Don’t try it, the char siu(pork) is thin and tasteless, the noodle is very ordinary, the soup is only salty, there is no layer at all, three bowls of this quality noodles cost $80!
Don't really try it, the char siu is thin and tasteless, the noodles are very ordinary, the soup is just salty, no layers at all, 3 bowls of noodles of this quality is $80! !
I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm 80!
Got their hakata ramen and the chashu musubi. Both were super delicious and flavorful. Service was fast and the staff was friendly.
Everything was great. Overall service was excellent. The food was delicious and had a very nice ambience.
***CALLING ALL RAMEN LOVERS***
This lovely establishment is a MUST to satisfy your cravings.
After a day of visiting the Getty museum and the UCLA campus we had some serious ramen cravings. A quick Yelp search brought up this gem.
Atmosphere:
Now, when you first walk in, it feels like your privately owned mom and pop restaurants. The worn down tables and chairs just shows you that this placed has been absolutely LOVED throughout the years and rightfully so.
Service:
Filled with hardworking, diligent, and friendly faces. They make you feel like a regular, even if its your first time.
Food:
First course was.alcohol!
Kinsachi IPA- If you like IPAs and that really "hoppy" flavor in your beer this is a very smooth beer with a bold taste. Very unique to this establishment as it is not found nearly anywhere else. Also, sporting an ABV of 7%, I always recommend to drink responsibly or bring that reliable friend who will drive you home.
Yuzu Calpico Sour- This was the monthly special and it definitely tantilized my tastebuds. It tasted like an exotic Sprite. However, if you're looking for that alcoholic "kick, " this would not have that for you.
Appetizer:
Takoyaki- OMG YUM! So, in all honesty, I've never had takoyako before. I just remember seeing it on TV or on youtube and I was always curious about why it is so popular. It is served with green onions, a delicious cream sauce, topped with bonito flakes. When it comes out it is piping hot and fresh! The filling was creamy and the octopus was not overcooked. Definitely should try if you like octopus.
Entrees:
Beef Bowl- The one pictures is the small size. The rice was so good and the beef was cooked perfectly. At $6 per bowl for the small, however, you can get a larger size at Yoshinoya.
Ramen - Now, this is the star of the show. There is magic in these bowls. We got the "make your own bowl and shared it. " It comes with noodles, broth, chashu. There is something about how they make their broth that makes it so addictive. I suggest adding the pork belly. It is so juicy and the meat just falls apart. Also, I love how they provide you the option of a hard boiled egg or a soft boiled egg for your ramen. Don't be afraid to add the extras to your liking. Yes, I know it can get a little pricey but it is definitely worth it.
Desert:
Creme brulee- Fits in the palm of your hand. Delicious and hearing the "crack" when you first go in is so satisfying. The creme is cooked perfectly and not lumpy or loose. They make it with a thick sugar layer to give you that nice delicate crunch with every bite.
So there you have it! Great Food, Awesome Service.
We live over an hour away from this establishment and were making plans in visiting again when we discovered that they have several locations! We are planning to visit each establishment soon!
This has been my favorite place for Ramen. Friendly staff, good service and food is always good and hasn't change in years.
I see why it's rated so nicely.great experience keep doing what you're doing <3
Small place, great ramen and service. You can tailor your ramen with noodle firmness, saltiness of the broth, and sides such as eggs, naruto, corn, extra meat, etc. The fried chicken is also really good.
This place has a good vibe. Happy Hour is great! The hospitality is also Great. You have to find out for yourself though.
