Sicilian Cafe

The ratings are all hype - the calamari was breaded heavily, chewy, and perhaps frozen - save time, stay home and heat up fish sticks. The appetizers were overall expensive and underwhelming. We finally got a table, but no thanks.the wait staff was great and atmosphere pleasant, but don't come for the food. Having just returned from Sorrento italy, it was a real disappointment after some truly great food there.

First of all, please order the Arancini, because it's wonderful! Aside from that, delicious food, a very talented barman and a charismatic Maitre D, well worth a visit! A very special night.

I so wanted to like this place. I loved them when they were in their old location, but sadly, the quality of their food has taken a dive. My husband had the lasagna and the red sauce was way, way too sweet. I had the chicken piccata, which was actually quite delicious, but it was served alongside penne pasta that was not only served just with Parmesan and parsley - very bland - but was seriously overcooked - not even close to al dente. So disappointing.

If you decide to come, I would recommend sticking with the appetizers. Their crabcakes and mussels are very good and the side salad is also delicious if you mix the blue cheese and Italian dressing.

The wait service was friendly, but the wine selection pretty uninspired. Sad to give this place such a negative review, because it was a chico institution. Not sure what happened, but I hope things shape up eventually.

Nice quant place. Food was best italian i ever had. I had butternut squash ravioli in brown butter.

Atmosphere was nice. They served us an appetizer plate of cheese, salami and olives along with olive oil and vinegar for the fresh bread. The Cannelloni was terrific. The owner greeted us. Great service and all around experience!

First time dining here and I will definitely be coming back! It’s authentic Italian Cuisine and atmosphere is great. We had such a wonderful waitress who was very attentive and accommodating. James the Chef came out to check on us which was a nice surprise. We sat there enjoying wine & food for hours and didn’t want to leave! It’s a must dining experience in Chico

It's a small restaurant. Ambiance is okay, old school Italian. The food was very good but the service was awful. The manager compd us each a glass of wine that confirmed the bad service but saved the review from 1 star.

We waited 45 minutes for bread & antipasto which was served by another waiter who noticed we'd sat there for a long time. He comped us a glass of wine and picked up our waitresses slack. She also screwed up my friends order completely, served one of our other friends, then fixed mistake and brought the other 2 plates out. Serving our food not all together but just messed up! The food was very good but the service left much to be desired; especially considering the prices.

What a great place to eat. An Italian gem in Chico. If you have not eaten here you are missing out. Hint, make a reservation. This place is popular. If you have been here before you are definetly coming back.

Always a great dining experience in Sicilian Cafe. The Chicken Americana is fantastic and is my favorite from here.

It has been some time since I came here last. I went here with my group on my birthday on Oct 26 and the experience was great. The waitress was wonderful and the food portions were big. We did have to wait for like over an hour for the food, but the waitress did keep us posted on what was going on. At the end, the manager comes out to see if everything went well. We were happy to report that it did go well. Will be coming back.

Take it from me when I say this place has great Italian food because even though I’m not Italian myself, I live and was raised in New York City and am very familiar with the city’s Italian restaurants. So, maybe I’m not the most authentic Italian tongue, but I do know good food when I taste it. Portions are above and beyond, it all tasted excellent, and service of course is great.
