Sculpture Silent Tree reviews
2Silent tree sculpture is part of the Stewart Collection. One of a three tree sculpture pieces by Terry Allen on the campus of University of California San Diego. This one is located at the main entrance of the Geisel Library.
The two trees in the Eucalyptus grove are actually the singing tree and the talking tree. The "Silent Tree" is actually the one directly in front of the entrance plaza to the library, within the semi-circle of the stone bench pillars there. All three are part of the piece "Trees" installed in the early 1990's. The silent tree was not originally in its currently location because the subterranean part of the Geisel Library had not been built yet. The original location for the silent tree was up on a grassy slope to the right of the library entrance.
