Excellent dining experience! The food is so so delicious - fresh, creative, beautiful. The service is also top-notch and everyone is warm, friendly and knowledgeable. Relaxed and yet refined atmosphere. So fun to sit by the cooking area! We especially love the house made gravlax, the duck entree with red cabbage and spatzlee. Lemon panna cota and almond financier desserts were amazing!

Excellent food, wait staff, and overall experience. The owner/chef came over to the table multiple times, to introduce himself, make sure we enjoyed everything, chat about the ingredients, etc. You can tell he really enjoys talking with people that appreciate the food and drink. It's immediately apparent that he loves his craft. We had the duck breast, venison medallion, and a few apps. They were all cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious. We will certainly be back and would recommend Skadi to anyone looking for a high quality dining experience.

My husband and I absolutely loved Skadi! We had the deer heart appetizer, Duck and New York Steak. Everything was delicious and unique. The chef even stopped by our table to explain a bit of Scandinavian folk lore. We will definitely be back to try more!

It is a wonderful experience eating here. We asked for help selecting a wine and the chef himself recommended something perfect. Worth every penny. This restaurant is doing it right.
I've been a foodie my whole life and I give this chef and his staff my highest award for most excellent.

High-class dining in the High Sierras.

A vibrant, sophisticated treat after a day roughing it on Lundy Canyon Trail. Intimate dining experience with bold yet balanced alpine flavors such as venison, trout, duck, goat cheese, red cabbage, wild blueberries, chocolate desserts, lemon panna cotta.a spread fit for the Nordic goddess of the wilderness, Skadi.

Always a pleasure to enjoy the art of this inspired Chef, who will often personally present his creations to your table. Skal!

If you were only in town for 1 night and wanted the perfect dinner, this is the place to go. The quality of the food, presentation and staff is what you expect at Michelin star restaurant, but this is so much better as the chef comes by discuss his dishes, pairings and the details of the meal. Finding a restaurant of this quality in a major city would be a great find, but in a ski town it rises far above!

We came here for our anniversary dinner last week. We had high expectations from the reviews and others that were staying in Mammoth Lakes. We were seated at a table with a bench and could only look out. We ordered the soup and a salad. The bread and butter was the highlight of our meal. When it came to the entrée, we asked our server for wine suggestions to compliment our meal. Her response was, "well, you have fish, so chardonnay, and he has pork, so Pinot". We were shocked. We thought she would have at least recommended a specific brand or a bottle that might compliment them both. During dinner, we watched the owner stop by and visit every table in the place (there are only 5 of them) and completely ignored us. We didn't order dessert and the final bill was over $200. Portions are very small.
We have been to fine dining all over the world and would not come back to Skadi.

A true chef who makes his own food. Cures his own meat and makes his own cheese. Definitely a scratch kitchen. A must visit while in mammoth. Book well in advance if you want to enjoy the incredible food.

First place in Mammoth that I’ve found that will transport you OUT of Mammoth. Simply spectacular. Easily rivals (outpaces my most recent visit even) the cafe menu at Chez Panisse. Had a similar Scandinavian meal at the great Aquavit. Chef is around, approachable. Service solid. Food fantastic.

Exceptional cuisine that would hold its own in the Bay Area or LA. If you want high-end culinary experience with creative flavors in Mammoth, this is it

It took me years to finally be organized enough to make a reservation in advance. I’m so glad I did. The food is absolutely amazing. Everything is prepared immaculately and the flavors are incredible. Skadi has a great wine list and a menu that makes it hard to decide. I’ve been twice now and have been blown away both times. Chef Ian is a master! I couldn’t recommend it more highly. The duck (first photo) is to die for.

You know it's serious when the wine list has some of the best wines. Chef Ian's restaurant gets the highest marks be on all accounts. Orientation to game based food. The smoked trout and horseradish starter was the best smoked food I ever tasted. Desserts are top class, made by the Chef
