Restaurant Slater's 50/50 reviews
18Best waiter ever “Ant”! Loved his energy, his service. I think he should teach others about customer service lol. Next time we stop by we are asking for him. Thank you Ant you made our day!
I'm going to start by saying the best food here is the bacon and the 50/50 patty, which is half bacon, half Angus beef. The next best thing are the appetizers and particularly the bacon sampler, which are 3 different flavors of bacon to try. I didn't try everything on the menu, so maybe there's more.
When you walk into this location, it's a bit of an odd feel since the place seems to be mostly a sports bar with some dinner tables squeezed off to the side of the bar. It's very clear they want it known this isn't a family place though families are welcome at a distance. They do have kid menus so they're prepared for kids.
Servers are very friendly each time I've come. I haven't been served quickly each time so that's a hit and miss. What I do notice is they don't seem well trained to ask specifics about food allergies or if anything like raw/cooked onions, etc, are okay since not everyone is great at checking the menu details when they order. Each time I've come we've had to make minor corrections that could have been avoided by a more savvy server.
There are parts to the food that are spectacular and parts that aren't. I will start by saying avoid the fish and chips or fish sandwich. They overcook it which is good in a way because the cod isn't raw, (though it's probably precooked anyway then frozen), but they have burned the batter each time like, visibly. It's also extremely greasy and on the burger, soaks the bun and you can taste it. The burgers look like typical thick meat burgers with the exception of quality lettuce and condiments. Oh.and you have to request regular ketchup because their standard condiment is bacon ketchup which tastes like.well.unappetizing. It should be that you have to request the bacon ketchup. They also served some type of sweet mustard mayo as a dip for my fried pickles.not ranch. The French fries were the standard thick ones that come frozen for too long so dry out quickly after they're fried. There wasn't any seasoning on them. Shoestrings would be better. I've had the tattertots and those are definitely the better choice.
All in all I got the feeling the menu was designed to be unique more than delicious due to the bar being the main draw which equates to a lot of drunk people who don't care about taste. I wish the restaurant well since it's great for residents to have a nice place to hangout at with friends but the bacon appetizer is just not enough to keep me coming back for more.
I love and enjoyed.
I highly recommend 50/50.
This is one of the best restaurants in USA.
Good food, good music, good staff. The B'B'B'Bacon Burger was very good. The Bacon Island on the burger is very unique and really brings that burger together. The pulled pork nachos were also good.
Food great, atmosphere good, service AMAZING! Ryan F.was our server. My family (me, wife and 4 young children) came in about an hour before closing on Sunday evening. We were basically the only people there. Ryan could not have been more attentive. He helped us “first timers” by explaining the menu and making great recommendations. A lot of the time, that late at night, restaurants make you feel like a burden, especially when kids are involved. Ryan was great with our kids which helped make my wife and my meal enjoyable. Valencia Slaters, we will be back! Burgers were really great! Kids items were really enjoyed by the kiddos!
My wife and I first discovered this place when they had a location in Pasadena, which is now closed. The atmosphere, food, and service was awesome. When they opened the Valencia location I was excited as it is down the street from where we live. We have been there several times, unfortunately every time we go there seems like the food quality and atmosphere go down. Our last visit on a Thursday night, the place was less than 30% full, my usual THE HI-BROW BURGER (Black Canyon Angus beef, melted swiss and blue cheeses, baby arugula, caramelized onions, horseradish, bacon-jalapeño jam and roasted garlic aioli on a brioche bun with A1 on the side) was overcooked, I asked for Medium it was well done and dry, and it did not taste like the last few times I had it, I don't think they added the horseradish but they overloaded it with Mayo. Overall we had a disappointing experience, hopefully things will get better, I will give them one more chance in the future and add to this review.
Ryan was awesome! We tried the Mac & Cheese balls & they were delicious! We’ll be back soon!
Horrible customer service. Waited at the takeout counter for several minutes and rings. Servers watched us walk away. Will not be going back
The server Ant was a top notch server. Very humble person. He's so good at his job that the restaurant has a drink named after him. It's 20 bucks but man it's so worth it.
My first experience at Slater's 50/50 with my family was rather disappointing. Despite their emphasis on 50/50 patties made from chuck and bacon, I found it to be one of the less impressive burgers I've tasted in a city with plenty of excellent options. While it's a decent spot to catch a game and indulge in a variety of appetizers and drinks, I sampled the Lone Star burger, which I cannot recommend. It's possible that other items on their menu might be more satisfying, but I'm hesitant to give it another try.
First time there and everything was excellent. All the employees were attentive, food was AMAZING, restaurant was clean. Will definitely make the 1 hour and 25 min drive back.
Ant is amazing! His recommendations are always great! Love the inside and outside atmosphere!
The sever was great and my husband & son loved the food but me wasn't very happy my son shake didn't come till the food was ready and then I didn't even get to eat the hamburger was wrong sent it back wrong again I didn't want it any more cause husband and son where almost done yes she tooky hamburger of but didn't offer anything for the hassle. I had a discount I use but haven't to wait for my son shake and my food being wrong twice I was over it and this was our first time eating here we like trying new place but don't no if we will go back
Love this place. First time to visit and 5 stars all around! Taylor, our server was amazing. They discontinued their beer flights but she recommended their “beer card” which is basically all you can drink from their beer walls (they have 2: indoor and outdoor) and you basically pay for whatever ounce you pour.
We got the bacon flight which was a delicious way to munch on while tasting their different beers.
My wife got the bison & bacon burger and I got the pulled pork sandwich. Both are amazing and well prepared.
We will definitely be coming back here.
Sucked Worst service I've ever had never did a server ever come and ask if we needed anything never came and asked if we would like a refill on our drinks so I will never come back there again and I will never recommend your establishment to anyone ever I'm done with you guys
Awesome experience for brunch, the team was very accommodating for our pup with their patio seating. The waitress was even so kind as to bring a dog bowl for water and two pieces of bacon for him. Thank you for the great experience, food, and being dog friendly!
Epic burgers and fries! Slater’s 50/50 is our go-to for gourmet burgers. Highly craveable and definitely recommended!
This was my second time coming here. I decided to try the brunch.
I came relatively early and was told I could sit anywhere, so I opted for a table outside. Unfortunately, I was not aware there would be such big mosquito problem. Either way I stayed at the table I asked for. I ordered the mac and cheese balls, a burger and bottomless mimosas.
I was disappointed with the fact that I was asked how I wanted my burger cooked, (medium), and it still came to me well done. My server had asked if anything was wrong with it and I told her it was well. She replied asking what I wanted to do? The question was weird and at the moment I already made up my mind I probably wasn't coming back. I just paid for the burger I didn't eat, because it was so rare she came around that I had already gotten to the point when I really didn't have an appetite or the patience to wait longer for another meal to come.
I'm not sure if there was a limit to how long I could stay, but my check was brought to me before I even requested it. That's sits weird with me considering it was bottomless mimosas and my food and drink took a while to come to me.
All in all, food is decent, when prepared as ordered, outdoor seating has lots of mosquitos, and server will bring check before you request it. Probably wouldn't recommend. I'll stick to my other brunch spots.
