Smogster Smog Check Station, Reseda CA

My daughter has been using Smogster for several years and highly recommend them. She let me know they also offer deals on Groupon so I purchased one in advance. Mike provided courteous, excellent, and speedy service. They also have a small air conditioned office area to sit in with very comfortable chairs too. I enjoyed reading all the posted signs hanging inside and took a couple pictures to share here and with some family and friends. I will continue to do business here when needing a Smog Certification and highly recommend them.

Best smog check experience I've had in over 20 years as a California car owner. Was able to quickly book and pay online, using Google Pay, so didn't even have to enter any info. Showed up, work was done quickly and efficiently with no wait. Great, no-nonsense service, would unquestionably use again.

When looking for a Star Smog location, I first found the Doctor Smog shop off Reseda and Roscoe. I walked in and asked how much they charge. He tried saying he was going to give me a deal by cutting $10 off their $85 price, making it $75. I had my smog check in the past and felt this was way overpriced. I said was going to shop around. They asked how much I thought it should be and I said $50. They said they couldn’t go that low. The first place I called was Smogster. I asked James how much they charge and he said $50. The first place I called! He was extremely friendly on the phone. I arrived 5 min later and he approached me letting me know there were 2 cars ahead of me but it shouldn’t take too long if I wanted to wait. I had no problem waiting as I had breakfast I planned to eat haha. Within a min there another car pulled up to wait as well. Again he was really friendly explaining he was pretty busy. He had is elderly dog chillin w him in the shop. So adorable. The dog was also really friendly and loved kids. There were snacks in the waiting room as pictured, I assume for anyone to help themselves. It’s only a 15min wait for a smog and I had fun reading all the fun signs posted to kill the time. This guy had many cars at his shop while the other had zero. Made me realize I found he best location for Smog testing. I already started the location on my map and will go here in the future. I can’t explain how nice James is to his customers. Such a really sweet person who is working in the heat on cars all day. I loved that he has his dog with him while he works too.

Reply from your reply: That's not the point. I've been given multiple information from the start. First guys said bring it back after driving 60 miles. I brought it back, then I was told 100 miles then today told to drive another 50 miles. I wasted my entire weekend trying to get this done and driving the required distance. If you would have told me to at least drive for a week, I would have not wasted my time and your time. I put in a total of 300 miles already. I will bring it back tomorrow. If it still doesn't read it, maybe try another tool as my mechanic didn't find anymore errors.

I was her Saturday early around 10-11AM. On my way, the check engine light turned on in the car. I took it in and the guy that saw it didn't mention anything about it until after the smog and said the smog failed because of the check engine light. The guy on duty then said come back after you fix and drive for at least 60 miles.

Got the error with the code fixed. 5 miles away. Went back home and got a full tank of gas. Drive for 70 miles.

Went back, owner was there. Then he said their readers could not read it and I need to get it to 100 miles.

Went and drive it up to 120 miles that night.

Sunday, came in earlier at 10. Guy arrived late. Got the tester and said it still not reading. Then said put in another more miles. Went and drove 60 more miles just to get the sensor to read.

Went back in and the guy said he still could not read it.

Since full tank of gas, I have put in 186.8 miles already. They keep changing their stance. What a waste of time and gas and money.

Not worth going here.

If you know that a check Engine light will not let you pass smog, I didnt know that until today, why still do the smog. Why not say fix it first then drive x number of miles and come back.

Go find another place that is honest.

Paid in advance for an 8: 30-8: 45 appointment (with a 20% tip), received a day-before and day-of confirmation which I answered immediately. I showed up at 8: 33, and was told there were several cars ahead of me and they couldn’t hold the time. What!? !?

Awesome the technician was nice and straight to the point tested the car and got me out. Which was perfect. Definitely recommend

Always take my rides to these guys when the smog check is due. Courteous, and always helpful.

I needed to get my car smog checked for registration purposes and I'm glad that I chose to come to Smogster. They've really adapted to 2020 conditions. I didn't have an appointment but fortunately there was only one car ahead of me. You can stay in your car the whole time. The process was quick and easy. I pulled into the bay, passed my registration paperwork to the technician, who was wearing a mask, through the window. Listened to the radio for a minutes and it was a done. They take contactless payment but you do have to go into their office to pay. It was quick though, less than one minute.

Fast service. Never had a problem, doesn't try to sell you anything you don't need - makes insightful suggestions, no pressure.
Expect great service = get great service. Will treat you as you treat them.

Excellent service, we didn't pass the first smog test but came back. Didn't pass that time either but they didn't charge us until we passed the third test. Humble business with a passion for their customers!
