This is one of my favorite shops in LA. You can always find the coolest books, arts, and gifts here. One of a kind stuff. I've been going here for years and it has never ceases to amaze me.

It’s been and still is the best of its kind. I always enjoy visiting, gallery viewing, and shopping.

So much kitsch! Incredible coffee table books. Cool little art gallery.
If you like kooky and weird you need to check this place out.
Low brow underground.

If you're around the area, this place has a nice little thrifty vibe to it that makes you feel like it's one of those places you visit to get souvenirs at a small town. I like it.

One stop shop for all things exceptional and non-boring. Soap Plant’s offerings are some of the most unique and eclectic in LA. I love this spot! Shop local!

This should be a destination for any out of tourists who are looking for something unique. The novelty gifts are great, but the book selection and perfume stations are great. There's always a good exhibit in the gallery and the staff is super-friendly.

What a wonderful place! I've been wanting to go for a few years now. Upon entering we were greeted by a wonderful, cheerful young person who was very helpful in finding out if we ever been there and directing us in things he thought we would like to see. What a cool selection of fun stuff. Don't miss this place even if you're not in the neighborhood. Going back to do some Christmas shopping!

It's like walking into the history and culture of Los Angeles. The staff is amazing, the artwork is always stunning, and they're always something I want to buy! If you're coming to visit LA, please are sure to take some time to drop on by. You won't regret it!

I had a bizarre interaction with an employee here. I was waiting to purchase something, so I was standing behind a man and his child who were buying something. The child was looking at the candy on the counter. This store is packed with merchandise and has narrow aisles and walkways. There is literally nowhere else to stand besides in an aisle when waiting in line. I want to emphasize that I was standing behind them, and they were close to finishing their transaction. An employee behind the counter signaled to me so I approached her and she said something to me (and I’m paraphrasing here) “You’re standing in the the p*rn aisle. If there is a child here you can’t stand there because they will stand behind you and look at it” Then she quickly walked away. I said okay and laughed. It took me a minute to fully process what she said because it made no sense. The father of the child looked at me with a confused expression on his face. I think the employee was referring to art books that contain nudity. What she told me was unreasonable and bizarre. I want to be clear that I am not responsible for other people’s children and what they look at in this shop. Perhaps there should be more space for people waiting in line to buy something. Also if there are concerns about children potentially looking at the p*rnographic art books then make a space that is for adults only. The other employees seemed lovely and were very helpful. Besides that strange conversation I enjoyed the shop and gallery.

If i could give zero stars i would! Overall the store is an amazing & cool gift shop with all kinds of different souvenirs. Given that the type of eccentric collectible store it is i was expecting a positive experience being a first time customer there but to say the least it wasn’t at all a friendly or comfortable place. Not only was the security rude when she told us we couldn’t bring bags in (a reusable shopping bag) she grabbed it out of our hands, which i didn’t refuse to not put my bag aside in the first place but it came off aggressive. In edition the whole entire time i was shopping my mother and i were being
followed down every single aisle in the store (its a pretty large shop might i add) which was extremely uncomfortable and makes you feel pretty bad in general for that to happen for 40
minutes straight by everyone that works there just for us to purchase many things afterward. Please find a better system to handle these things without profiling and assuming theft from the wrong people! Its 2022 this behavior isn’t professional.

Love coming here so much! We make a stop every time we commute 75 miles to CHLA. It's become a tradition now for my son and I to stop, pick up some cool toys for him and an awesome book or novelty nick-nack for me or a gift for a friend. The staff has always been incredibly friendly. So glad we fumbled onto this jem!

It was a joy to visit yesterday. So glad to have been back and glad the store is backing up and running. This is the most amazing store. From their huge book selection to their knick knacks kitchen items soaps and just about anything you can name. As well as things you never knew you wanted. The staff is top-notch, an extremely knowledgeable. On top of that in the back is the La Luz de Jesus gallery. If you're in Los Angeles run don't walk to get to this place. And then grab a coffee in one of the many Cool Coffee places in the Siilverlake.

This place is a cultural goldmine and you won’t find many stores like this. I don’t know if they still do the art shows but if they do, you must go! In my area you can’t find anything as cool as this place. Books of all kinds, occult and rare to find items will beckon you to call them. If I could live in this store I would. The people that work here have been here for many decades and they are good people. Get your culture shock here. Toys, clothing and rare hard to find stuff will be here in this gem of a store. I hope they will be here forever. If you have a birthday present to buy for someone, trust me. This is your spot for that unique gift.

Amazing collection of books, gifts, art and more of all things bizarre. If you can’t think of a gift for someone this is a sure place to find something anyone would enjoy.

This is the ultimate One-Stop gift shop. There is something weird for everyone. But you definitely will never find anything boring here, so if you are shopping for a boring person do not go here. For the rest of us weirdos it is an awesome
