Sushi Restaurant SOICHI reviews
14There's a reason this place has a Michelin star. This place is superb. The best sushi experience we have had. The sushi chef serenaded us with a birthday song while playing guitar for my wife's birthday.
Found this place on Yelp, I have been wanting to try it for a long time and was finally able to try it. Everything tastes amazing.
Soichi remains our favorite omekase experience. Service is exceptional, and it always feels like we are having dinner with friends and family when we’re there. Fish quality was perfection as usual, and we will keep coming back whenever we’re in San Diego.
YUMMY food (Not just the Sushi). Coming or ordering once a week or more, and besides few times, they are perfect. You are welcome.
Came here for our anniversary dinner and we were not disappointed. The food was amazing but the service was really what made the experience. Rachel made us feel like we were part of the family. We went for the full Omakase experience. Started with sake flights and ended up moving to bottles after. We originally sat at a table inside, than they offered us a spot at the bar when it opened and that really elevated the experience. Can not wait to come back again and do it all over.
Menu Ordered:
-Full Omakase Experience
-"Silk Dragon" Kuzuryu Daiginjo Sake (Highly Recommended)
Overall Experience:
The dining experience at this establishment exceeded all my expectations in terms of food quality, ambiance, and service. The pricing was remarkably reasonable, considering the exceptional quality and meticulous care evident in each dish. I will certainly be back.
Course Dishes:
Each course was a showcase of the chef's commitment to culinary excellence. The attention to detail in every dish was palpable, showcasing a harmonious blend of seasoning, sauces, and the freshness of ingredients. The chef's skill in balancing flavors and textures was prominent throughout the meal.
Nigiri:
The Nigiri selection was particularly noteworthy, featuring high-quality neta and a symphony of flavors. Each piece was a masterful display of the chef's artistry in enhancing and decorating the neta's flavors, crafting an unforgettable and uniquely flavorful dining experience.
Just had takeout from Soichi. Had high expectations when they said they are fully booked for the next two months and after reading reviews. I ordered Takeout Nigiri Box A and C along with Mixed Tempura. Not sure if it’s because it was takeout, but I found the quality of sushi to be quite disappointing. For take out, it’s good but it wasn’t anywhere near my expectations. The portions are quite small. The tuna was slightly fishy. Uni tasted great, but again portion was quite small. Weirdest part was the shrimp sushi (not in pic it was a part of my fiancé’s order). It was so dry. My fiancé and I both spit it out which we never do. It didn’t taste rotten or look bad, but it had no flavour whatsoever and had the texture of cardboard. But the shrimp in the tempura was sweet and juicy so it’s quite confusing. Overall, I’m left feeling very underwhelmed. If this is a representation of the quality of dine in at Soichi, I would not recommend going at their current price.
Killer sushi! Well trained and well versed chefs. If it's in season, get the ama ebi shrimp, tempura the head and eat it all! Yum!
All the courses are delicious, and they also offer wide variety of sake. Really nice omakase experience we got in recent years!
Wow. What a disappointment. I’ve done omakase in LA, nyc, SF and this place fell wayyyy below what I’ve had at other places. The food was so mediocre, the amount was like an appetizer and $700 later, I hated the place. Head to hidden fish to the best quality fish in SD
What an absolutely amazing experience. Chef Soichi and staff were on point and the sushi and sake were sublime! Arigato! I cannot wait to get back!
The most amazing sushi I had in the US. Service is outstanding, they have my favorite Asahi beer and the sushi is just amazing. The uni melts in your mouth, the toro tastes fantastic and I would recommend getting the tasting menu if it's your first time eating here. Try to ask for a seat at the bar if it's your first time here so you can watch your delicious food being prepared and you can also chat with the chefs.
This was a great experience. The presentation beats Sushi Tadokoro and the Chef was very friendly.
