Solvang Vintage Motorcycle Museum reviews
15Pretty nice collections. Worth the visit. $10 fee as of Feb 2023. Has parking area besides the building.
I was visiting Solvang with my girlfriend and I wanted to check out the museum; I ride motorcycles myself. Very interesting bikes rest in this location. Many different types like classic, sport bikes, enduro, and more strange but fascinating-looking bikes. I can't remember the gentleman that gave us the tour but cheers to him very well-spoken and informative.
Extremely good collection of motorcycles from all parts of the world. Bikes 8nbgrear condition. Really good historical information. Friendly and knowledgeable host who was very keen in providing extra history of the exhibits. What a jewel of a museum in a jewel of a town.
This museum is for people who love motorcycles and the engineering that created them. Dr Elings, the owner, loves to ride and is dedicated to display the many unique engineering solutions engineers have created over the years. His collection is a mix of historic bikes, Brough and Vincent for example, and racing machines, some replicas. The Docent was very informative, enthusiastic and helpful. We looked at and discussed many bikes. This was a wonderful day, a stroll through the creative past of man and machine, in a room full of beautiful bikes.
First of all, this place is not for everyone, motorcycle and racing history is the main point to this place. A large private collection of motorcycles with small informational notes for each. Many hard to find bikes from around the world are here, though it's heavily Euro/America focused.
Yes, the $10 entrance fee can be steep for those that have a mild interest in motorcycles. Probably a place to go alone if you can get away from your group/family if they don't share the same interests. Save the money. I love motorcycles and the content of this museum was way over my head but I still enjoyed seeing the place at my leisure. Paid for my girlfriend too who walked out after 15min, would have rather spent that on an ice cream instead of wasting it on the admission for her.
The staff is VERY knowledgeable about the individual bike's history and the stories behind them. He enjoys answering questions and can tell he really enjoys working at that place with all that history.
Great place and knowledgeable manager (sorry but forgot the name. He was foubeles). We had such a fun visit. Learned a lot about rare bikes that you don't see frequently. For motorcycle/history lovers it is a must see. Thank you for the experience and thank you for the collector for sharing this magnificent collection with the public.
WOW THIS PLACE IS A GEM! If you love motorcycles, COME HERE!
The guy was awesome, he know all the story about the bikes in the store.
You have to pay $10 each person, but you can spend as long as you want, and take many pictures you like too.
Really friendly, helpful and knowledgeable staff (Jill). Loads of classic and some weird bikes. Absolutely fantastic if you are into this!
Very cool museum of motorcycles.it quick, but you can take you time and read the history of each bike and take as many pictures as you want. No rush.
$10 per person. A little much for what a small experience, in my opinion. Very interesting for people who know and follow motorcycle culture through history. I wish it was laid out in chronological order, for those like me, who know nothing about motorcycles. Each motorcycle had a frame with printed info about it. Self-directed touring. Rows are small and definitely not accessible for walkers or wheelchairs. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable!
My son got charged full $10 price even though store was closing within 30 minutes. Other than that motorcycles were amazing.
Daniel is very attentive, knowledgeable and just great to talk with. I love anything motorcycles. If you want to enjoy a really neat experience. Stop in here and spend a little time. 2 thumbs up!
Really nice and interesting collection of motorcycles! So glad i went and got to see two wheeled history in person.getting to see all the little details in design and changes throughout the years is so cool!
Must visit in Solvang for any motorheads. Its a journey through one man's lifetime collection of motorcycles. There are unique motorcycles some of which are the only ones ever made (not custom, just the one prototype made by manufacturers). Many signed race motorcycles, and vintage motorcycles too.
