Sonoma Botanical Garden reviews
19I had a great time walking around looking at all the trees and flowers. There were little bridges crossing streams and also ponds with lilly pads. We found mushrooms that looked exotic like little cages and smelled like death. Benches were everywhere so you can sit and relax to look at all the wonder of nature. It felt like I was in someones private garden. You definitely need to visit to take in this garden of Eden!
When you slow down and take your time, the world of Sonoma Botanical Garden really opens up to a wonderland of trees, shrubbery and leaves. As you walk around the pathways, views of colorful foliage change as the seasons age. I went into the Gift Shop and found wonderful posters, jewelry, linens etc. This is a fantastic place to meander and enjoy nature.
Nice walking paths, but the trails were pretty steep. Well groomed and there were labels on many of the plants. I recommend picking up a picnic lunch at the Sonoma Market and planning to spend a couple of hours here. We got a good workout today!
There was not much to look at here, although the entrance is nice with a vineyard and little shop. I definitely wouldn't come here again, the gardens were pretty much all dead and very little to see. It is also relatively small
Wow this was such a treat. We were not expecting the gardens to be as beautiful and shaded as they were. Bring your hiking shoes, you can get a little workout if you follow the green paths. So many secret quiet spots to enjoy! Loved it.
The gardens were beautiful and peaceful. Quite a nice hiking trail that meandered through the gardens and past a couple of waterfalls. We brought a picnic with us and enjoyed it with a vineyard as the backdrop.
Visited while on vacation using our local garden membership. Very helpful at the gift shop and pointed us in the right direction
Very pleasant experience. These people converted an old limestone quarry into what it is today. Apparently we should return during the late summer/ fall, during which there's a lot of blossom etc. In any event, we found it a good experience hiking from one Asian tree to another.
Lovely gardens. We were able to walk through most of the 25 acres in about an hour and a half. So many beautiful flowers and trees! The grounds have lots of places to rest and enjoy the flora. There are also a few arbors to get some shade.
Beautiful work to transform the garden into a habitat suitable for Asiatic trees and flora. Rare finds here, see them for yourself.
This place is a treasure of plants which are a treat to see at any season. I went in the dead of winter and was amazed at the structure and form visible when the deciduous plants are without leaves. I make it a point to return at every season to enjoy the changing shapes and colors as well as learn what works in my garden since I am fortunate to live nearby.
Really enjoyed this place. The lady at the gift shop was passionate about the park and welcoming. It’s such a trip to see the different Asian fauna. Very peaceful and serene.
Not worth it. Property not maintained. Gravel trails are straight up and coming down slippery. Smells of urine near ponds. So much algae on ponds that I mistook it for ground and almosted stepped right in water. Sad place.
A gem in Sonoma Valley. Stunning Asian plants, friendly and helpful staff, and lovely gift shop.
Visited in January so it was a winter experience. This garden is mostly trees with lots of paths to follow. More like a pleasant hiking experience than a learn about plants experience. There are picnic tables scattered around the park.
Nice place to hike/walk but you need to be there when things are blooming to appreciate it
I recommend getting lost in this place full of amazing trees and plants. And then hitting the gift shop and chatting with the lovely volunteers in there.
Truly a hidden gem of Sonoma county! So nice to wonder around here and see all the beautiful plants. The staff are all super friendly and are happy to answer any questions you may have. We are definitely going back in April to see everything in bloom.
