Cafe Sosta reviews
15 My husband and I love coming here for special occasions. The prices are high, but worth it for the unique flavors. This is not Americanized Italian food. This is very authentic Italian food. The servers were also authentic Italians along with accents.
We shared the yellowtail crudo, the spaghetti and mullet eggs, and the lamb. The food was amazing! The service was great.
It’s very seldom that there is nothing to complain. Best food, great wine, cozy atmosphere and a super service.
Sosta’s coffee and espresso drinks are excelled and their croissants are life affirming, however, they are in limited supply, so get there early if you want one! The staff is super friendly and service can’t be beat. Love the location and atmosphere. Only wish I lived closer so I could hang out here more often
5 stars all around - little piece of Italy right here in the heart of hermosa beach. The crudo, burrata, uni pasta, branzino fillet and steak were absolutely MINDBLOWINGLY delicious. Service was also magnificent, it was a very homey, cozy, family owned vibes restaurant where the staff knew the super fresh specials by heart and truly took pride in their work we will be back for much more!
Very cozy and romantic atmosphere, great for date nights, romantic dinners, the food is really delicious and the service is great, will definitely go back soon
As though you're in Italy.exceptional ambiance, perfect music, amazing food, steak cooked perfectly medium rare. Suggestions: allow the staff to choice the wine with your entre choice.
Really delicious food and the server was incredibly attentive, funny, and adept. It's upscale and the price seemed in line with what you get and the area. In particular the gnocchi was perfect. Would happily return.
We never go abroad to eat Italian for La Sosta we made an exception and we were rewarded. Authentic Italian cuisine is great, better than many restaurants in Italy. Giorgio Luca and their very kind team have created a perfect environment. Spaghetti alla bottteria among the best ever eaten. We'll be back
This was such a delightful experience… great food/staff/atmosphere- just superb! Loved every second of it!
Incredible food, great service, we thought we were on the Italian coast! Highly recommend this gem for South Bay Italian and some of the best pasta in a romantic, relaxed environment.
It was our first time dining here and we had a wonderful experience. I love the ambiance and layout, it's rather intimate, a great spot for a date night. The service was great from the hostess to our waiter and the dishes were simple yet very flavorful. Great spot for a romantic night out. Extensive wine selection too. Highly recommend.
Great experience, very reminiscent of our time in Italy. The emphasis on simple, high quality ingredients was evident in every dish. Giorgio was a great host and guide through the menu. Looking forward to our next visit.
I think they have the best food. I have been here many times tried many options and loved all of them.
Holy Moses, where to start on this review. It might be a long one, just warning you.
My husband and I had just got back from eloping in Santa Barbara where we spent six days eating and drinking.
We live in Hermosa Beach. We thought we would have our last meal in our home town before getting back to reality from our wedding weekend.
We live down the street and have been wanting to come to Sosta for a long time. (We frequent the Sosta caffe in the morning, strongly recommend going! Shout out to Hugo and Victor!)
We came last Monday night so the restaurant was quiet which we expected. It was nice since it felt like we had the restaurant to ourselves. It's such a vibe at this restaurant. We ate inside.
Our server, Giorgio was absolutely fantastic! We mentioned we were finishing off our food tour from our wedding weekend, and they treated us with extra excitement and kindness, which was not expected but always nice.
They have a smaller menu but we were surprised to find they had a whole truffle menu and a side of specials. We were already having a tough time choosing from the regular menu! So many incredible options.
We ended up getting:
-bottle of Nebbiolo that our server picked - one of the best wines I've had.
- crudo yellow tail
-gnocchi Gorgonzola (ordered another after because it was so good) My husband hates Gorgonzola but tried these and it changed his life, he can't stop talking about them!
-a pasta from the specials list that was a light fettuccine with slow cooked baby back rib meat
- we asked the chef to surprise us with the New York strip or Prime Ribeye - we got the ribeye! Cooked to perfection.
-tiramisu
Just some side notes:
-They bring you fresh bread and drop it on the table with olive oil, I just loved that!
-Giorgio switched the music to all Sade - I'm a big Sade fan. It was such a vibe the whole night.
-We took our sweet time ordering one dish after the next.
-Yes, at first glance food looks pricey when reading the menu but the food justifies this price. So sit back relax and enjoy it all. That's what we did!
Overall, ambiance - perfection, staff - hospitable and kind, food - melting in my mouth with every bite. Chef Luca's menu is perfectly on point! Go give this restaurant all your love.
We are counting down the days to go back.
Thank you!
