Southern Spice Indian Restaurant - Lawndale reviews
16Went to the Christmas buffet. Food is really good out there. Want to try authentic south indian food in LA, then this is the place.
Had the lunch buffet and really enjoyed the food. The service was great as well. Definitely worth the money!
Had a great experience here! All the food was flavorful and the staff was attentive. Chai and ice cream came with the buffet.
Most authentic South Indian cuisine I’ve ever had in USA. Briryani to Dosas and all Entrée are so great! Nice and friendly place! Must visit…
This was a incredible experience! The service was so professional and kind! And my yellow Dal was great! I ordered a dessert in the end and OMG! Was delicious! Rasmalai is the name of this delicious dessert, if you like try new flavors I absolutely recommend this which has a delicate rose water taste! For sure we are gonna back! Thank you!
Our first visit here and it was one of the best South Indian food we have had. We did the holiday buffet and unlike other restaurants the quality of the food in buffet was just amazing. You could tell the oil, spices, chicken, etc all were great quality and authentically prepared. Our favorites were so many but to name a few: achari chicken, dosa and sambar, butter chicken, coconut payassam was beyond delicious. Would very highly recommend
Best South Indian restaurant we have ever been to, been on roadtrip from San Diego to LA and so far the best we have had, big shout to the manager. Very good service.
Our neighbor from India recommended Southern Spice as the best Indian food in LA. Although it was a bit of a drive, we decided to try it out on a Saturday afternoon. The buffet was spectacular. Some of the best Indian food I’ve ever had. We would highly recommend and will definitely eat here again. We also found many options for my husband who is gluten free, vegetarian.
We walked in, had to ask to be seated, were seated, and given menus without a word. We were not given water cups, and we sat there waiting for someone to even come up to us. After raising my hand for literally 5 minutes, we got up and left. As soon as we were gone, the hostess collected our menus. They had no intention of serving us. My guess is they don't like non-Indians entering their restaurant. Don't support this business please. They obviously wanted us gone because they took our menus the second we left. They could have had business from 4 customers but they chose to not take it. Shame on them
Truly a hidden gem in the Redondo Beach area. We came here for vacation and I was pleasantly surprised at how amazing the food was. Uttapam is out of place! I’d never had such a great mixed veg Uttapam, fried rice and dosa. The food is also made with the right amount of spices, oil, and salt. The flavor is phenomenal! I highly recommend coming here if you are in the Redondo beach, California area.
This place is worth 0 stars. Never have my non-Indians friends and I been so discriminated. The waiter gave us menus with no words, didn’t offer any drinks or waters. My friend raised his hand for some service, but he walked away and stayed away. The waiter seeing his hand raised talked to another employee and moved dishes around, back to us as if we didn’t exist. No one here intended on serving us, don’t bother going unless you are Indian.
Great food! Really fresh ingredients and very fairly priced. Rare to find quality South Indian food in the South Bay.
Loved the buffet, tasted like home made food. Rasam, idly manchurian, gulab jamun, bajji, kheer and many more vegetarian dishes were lip smacking.
The food was amazing. Everything was full of flavor and seasoned very well. The service was excellent. I never had an empty glass of water. Try everything, especially the rose milk and nannari sarbath. The Christmas buffet is to die for.
Excellent food. South Indian dishes were great. Spice was perfect. One or two dishes were hot, but were balanced by a delicious, mild yoghurt rice dish garnished by cilantro. Fresh plain dosas to the table which was an interesting flavor combination with the non-vegetarian options of which there were three curries, two dry chicken dishes, and a delicious chicken biryani. Service was fantastic.
