Specialized Santa Cruz Experience Center

Didn't get to do my demo ride due to rain, but the guys were super helpful and informative; ended up buying a Stumpy anyway and really stoked about it

Great services and very nice bikes! You can easily reach trails from the shop and enjoy your ride!

Fantastic place to rent/test ride a bike, great shop, great location and great staff.
Two suggestions:
Provide a coupon to partially offset the cost of the rental against a purchase of the same bike you rented.
Allow shorter/cheaper rentals (e.g. 3 hour).

Definitely the spot to demo a specialized bike. Close to trails so you can leave your car next to the shop. The employees were cool and informative

I rented a Stumpjumper EVO Pro. The bike was great and the staff was friendly and helpful.

Rode the latest Levo 2 Comp. Great handling bike. The 320-watt rated motor had smooth power delivery. Battery got me 26 miles and 2,500 feet of climbing with energy to spare.

Looking for an S-Works-level experience with the finest bikes Specialized makes? You won’t get it here. The exorbitant rental price gets you a beautiful store… with a broke coffee maker (take this as a sign!).
I selected the incredible S-Works Aethos with SRAM AXS, which I am fortunate to own and which I think is one of the finest bikes made. But this rental did a huge disservice to this engineering marvel. I had over 30 chain drops in 3 days, due to incorrect derailleur alignment and / or thick grime, the power meter battery was dead and the rear derailleur battery nearly so (cut last ride short to just barely make it back), and the drive train was filthy and loud.
On bike return I mentioned the chain drops, to which the shop boy responded by throwing SRAM under the bus: “SRAM can’t make a derailment that doesn’t do that. Everyone has problems with them. ” I replied that I have ridden AXS since 2019 and never had a problem. “You should have brought the bike back. ” How about sending the bike out in good shape? “Nobody rides these road bikes anymore. ” So you had plenty of time to prep the bike…. “How ‘bout a discount on a future rental? ” Why would I or anyone want this expensive “Experience” again?
Specialized marketing wants buyers to experience these high-end bikes, to see what state of the art is in performance bikes. This rental experience achieves just the opposite for the mighty Specialized brand. So sad.

I was informed to stop in here because of the array of stuff. It’s just a bunch of pedal assisted bicycles. No fat tires and legit lame. I was not impressed. Friendly staff, but immediately got the vibe of “seen one, seen them all type of attitude”

Great service! AMAZING experience. Haven't rode a bike in 20 years and tried the eBike. BLOWN AWAY. I can get the full experience while not over exerting myself. Cruise control for bikes in Santa Cruz:) I will return!

Great day of riding with an old friend. The e mountain bikes are awesome. Really allowed us to explore without running out of gas.

Such an amazing experience riding the finest of Specialized steeds out on the local Santa Cruz trails for the day.all thanks to Rob and the rest of the awesome shop crew.
