Spicy Joi Banh Mi x Lao Street Food, Concord CA

Amazing food in a really clean and bright atmosphere. The soup was really yummy, especially with the mint and the sandwiches were fresh and crisp.

Been here twice. Had the banh mi and then the khaosoi. Underwhelmed both times. $16+ for a big bowl of flavorless soup. There are better banh mi elsewhere.

Everything is delicious and super authentic! I take my kids here every couple of weeks for the chicken with sticky rice and the khaosoi

Delicious Asian food, great if you like rice and are craving for the optional spicy taste. The self-service free lemon water is good. The pork dish had the right crunch to it. The chili was good. The side vegetables balanced the taste. Our soup had tofu in it, it was mild until you add the chili oil or the chili seeds. Restroom was wide and clean down the hall. Staff was attentive and approachable for requests like take away plastic, extra bowl, or spoon and fork. Besides the mural, they decorated for the season too, it was a nice touch.

It was our first time dining at the restaurant. Very nice interior with high ceilings and a beautiful mural painting of Thailand, Laos and surrounding countries. We were invited to place our order at the register and pay prior to taking our number stand to an avaliable table. Iced water was self-serve on the counter near the register. We ordered the kapoon, kasoy, and the pork belly combo with sticky rice and sauce. We added an extra order of sticky rice. The portions were quite large for the prices listed on the digital screens above the cash register. Each dish was packed with flavor and we found that they were very unique to this restaurant. The kasoy had a generous portion of crispy pork belly as one of the toppings. The sauce that came with the pork belly combo was a perfect blend of sweet and salty. The kapoon came with a cute little metal cup filled with mint and whole dried Chili Peppers. We will definitely come back again to try other items in the menu.

Best ever, I love the mural on their wall. Great ambience, plenty of parking (even though we came on the weekend), good service, super duper funny staff, not an insane line to order. Pretty fast and pretty tasty. I’m be back!

It looked like this restaurant had just opened. Very clean and friendly service. Curry chicken noodle soup was good. The other noodle dish was salty.

Absolutely fresh and delicious just like when I was in Laos, if you created a tropical setting and had a BeerLoas with blue rice I would have sworn I was!

Oh they’re so good! All the restaurants around this area should take notes tbh. Food is really good but my favorite thing about this restaurant is their excellent hygiene/Cleanliness and the kind and helpful servers

I'm in love with this place.
It's so good, I literally order two sausage bahn-mi. Eat them both.
Very refreshing flavours, I can't stop. Also light enough I don't feel bloated.

Crispy coconut rice is phenomenal too.
(I actually planted a Thai mint plant, I propagated from the dish! What a nice bonus)

Great little Lao spot near Concord / Walnut Creek. We were passing by and craving some Bahn Mi sandwiches so we stopped here. Both the Lao sausage and the bbq pork ones were really tasty. We also ordered the drunken noodles and the papaya salad to go with our meal.

I like that this place has lots of seating options and service is counter casual style so order/pay before sitting down.

All in all worth the visit!

Plenty of folks come here and are satisfied with this flavorful cuisine. The family that works here puts in a lot of effort and it shows. The prices are fair even in these days of inflation and uncertainty. The bánh mì I ordered was very delightful. If you are a fan of sausages, definitely try at least once the Lao sausage.

They have great soups that can brighten any rainy day! I particularly enjoyed the Khaosoi Luangprabang/Minced Pork (that chopped up pork belly was perfectly done)

I liked the art on the inside and found the hustle and bustle to me calming. I’m sure I’ll return!

My first time here. Ordered a Pork BBQ Banh Mi with extra jalapeno but the sandwich came with barely any jalapeno. It's like you ask for extra and they give you less.

Probably could blame me. Ordered 3 sandwiches but received someone else's order with 2 items.
I heard the counter guy say something, so I turned around to look his way. (I had just made my order 2 minutes before. I'm glad they deserved the increased wages) He was looking at me holding the bag up, so I hurriedly grabbed it a left. I didn't find out it was the wrong order until I got to my destination 20 minutes later.

Spicy Joi’s was delicious. Highly recommend you get the experience! Their fried rice was very depth full in flavor. The pork belly combo plate complimented with the cabbage & dipped in the spicy sauce, adds layers of fat, Heat & coolness in your mouth! Delicate & packs a flavor that doesn’t feel heavy. The dessert Khao lodd xong was creamy & bright. We will be coming back to try more as I feel like this was just the tip of the iceberg for what flavors in the dishes he has going on here. If you are unsure - go to their website & they provide pictures of everything. Totally helps because when you read it & see it - 2 different experiences. Sorry I usually take pictures. - next time.

Food was good. Liked the medium spice. The guy on register who took our order was pretty patient (as we were first timers today) — Inside had beautiful art with self serve water.

Food is good here. Though I’m not sure how they run their kitchen because you could get your food right away or you could wait for an hour. I had to follow up on my food twice. At least 10 other parties who ordered way after me got their food and finished eating before I even got my food even though they ordered more than I did. So yea food is good but organization is not. It’s frustrating to have other people who ordered after me and got way more food than I did get theirs before I me. It was especially upsetting to see who seemed like their manager personally deliver a tray of food to a table that got there way after I did. Not sure if my order got lost bc they didn’t have an explanation for me. They tried to offer me a free Thai iced tea and honestly I couldn’t even take it because I was so upset. This is totally not on the servers manning the front because they’re just doing their best. The kitchen definitely needs better organization. So maybe come here if you have an hour or two to spare and not hungry.
