Spindrift Inn, Monterey CA

This has to be the best place you could possibly stay in Monterey, CA. Right next to the Monterey Aquarium, sea facing, with valet parking, etc. Though in the middle of a touristy thoroughfare, it is still worth the tab.

Polite staff, continental BF in the room, complimentary wine and assorted cheese n biscuits. Close to the Aquarium. Nice place.

We continue to come back here. This is our 8th stay. Quaint hotel with relaxed atmosphere. Not your typical luxury hotel

Our second stay at the Spindrift. Located in the center of Cannery Row and right on the waterfront. Pictured is room 410 with a street view. The bed is super comfy. Decent wine and cheese reception in the evening and continental breakfast delivered to your room in the AM. Well worth the visit.

Such a romantic and great experience here. I loved the rose with our breakfast in bed.
The rooms were clean and the bed was so comfortable.

However, when we ran the water for the tub, it was very, very, VERY RUSTY!
The water came out green and copper color.

So I would suggest them cleaning the tub faucet or something too fix that RUST.

Minus 1 star for the nasty green and rust water when I was trying to take a relaxing bath!

I'll start off by saying this was booked through Hotel Tonight. On our way to Monterey to celebrate a birthday weekend I receive an email and call from Hotel Tonight indicating that the hotel made an oversight and could not accommodate us for our stay. This was very upsetting, as an alternative they offered to place us at Casa Munras in historic Monterey (location was in downtown away from Cannery Row) they indicated that there would be no charge and assured us that breakfast and other amenities available at Victorian Inn would be available at Casa Munras. We thought okay crisis averted but then we received another email and call from Hotel Tonight indicating that Casa Munras didn't have capacity either so they were going to place us at Spindrift Inn but would now be responsible for parking charge. With no other option available we decided Spindrift Inn would work as it placed us back in the area we wanted to be in. To avoid any misunderstanding and surprises I elected to call Spindrift Inn directly to confirm we in fact had a room reserved for us and if there could be any accomodations for the hassles. We were told that they could not waive parking but would be able to split the cost. They indicated that the room would be a king size room with oceanview and balcony. I felt reassured and less irritated. Upon checking in the service was lackluster, we went upstairs to the room and opened the door and it smelled of must and or mildew and it was certainly not an oceanview as it was directly over Cannery Row. I don't know if this is Inns of Monterey's (Monterey Bay Inn, Victorian Inn, Wave Street Inn & Casa Munras) mode of operation but it certainly felt like a bait and switch and I would have appreciated if they were more transparent in their actions rather than tell me one thing on the phone and then let me experience another. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this collection of hotels in Monterey.

We’ve visited several times and never been disappointed. It’s location in the heart of Cannery Row is ideal and convenient, and it’s view of the bay is unrivaled.

We had a wonderful time here the view from the room was absolutely fantastic, we were on the 4th floor in a corner suite it had a perfect view of the ocean. The room it self was very nice and the bed was very comfortable. The front desk staff were very nice and helpful especially Willem. The only issues we had during our stay was the water pressure it was very weak at times with one occasion the water just stopped coming. But it really wasn't a bother. The breakfast service was also really tasty and convenient. Its in a great spot for walking the beach or cannery row we really had a great time staying here

You have to be looking for things to nit-pick about this place. We had a wonderful stay in July. Being from Florida, where July is just the pre-heating for the hell that is August, the weather here was truly perfect. We sprung for an ocean view room, and it was money well spent. I spent my spare time tucked up in the window seat watching otters and birds and an occasional seal play in the little bay outside the hotel.

Yes, the crowds are sometimes noisy or stinky (smoking), but in the early mornings and late evenings, it's peaceful if you don't mind sea bird noises. I loved falling asleep to the waves and birds and buoy bell, then waking to the fog shrouded sea.

We loved that you could walk everywhere from here. We enjoyed the nighly free wine/cheese and in-room breakfasts. The room was excellently appointed and stayed at a perfect temperature.

A small old but well maintained hotel on the edge of the ocean. There is no air conditioning in the rooms but there is a fan and to my surprise it was even pleasant enough. There is a sauna in the room we did not use it. This is rare in a hotel!

Really cool hotel and they have free wine and cheese spread. What!? !? ! Staff is really friendly and they offer early check-in services. Basically, you can drop off your car and baggage early. Saves the parking costs if the plan is to visit Cannery Row anyway. If possible book a room facing the water, worth it!

Very old world vibe in great location. Nice cheese and wine in the afternoons, very comfortable beds and loved the gas fire in the rooms.
Bathrooms could use an update, the breakfasts felt cheap and underwhelming (maybe splash out on some less budget yoghurt and fresh milk for the drinks).

Spent a week in Monterey with my daughter. Room was beautiful and service excellent. We wanted for nothing during our stay. We loved the balcony and fireplace in our room. The staff is kind and tends to every detail. We enjoyed the walkability of the location and the view, but it was a bit noisy and touristy—minor issue on an otherwise outstanding stay.

I put 4 because of the service or rather the lack of service. Apart from that the room is amazing with a view of San Francisco and its bay. They give us binoculars to see the wildlife but I used them to look at San Francisco. We even see Oakland. Ideal location in the city center.

A lovely hotel located walking distance from many attractions in Monterey. We walked along the bay to get coffee and go kayaking, stopping by Old Fisherman's Wharf for chowder on our way back. Our room was clean and cute with a great view of Cannery Row. We used valet parking which was convenient but very expensive at $35/night.

Love this place. Fireplace, ocean, afternoon wine and appetizers. What's not to like?

This place is older, very quaint. Our room was facing the ocean so to have that to look at daily was spectacular and the sounds of the waves crashing on shore was tranquil. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting this area.

Changed my check-in from 4pm to “whenever I show up” because I didn’t read the standard check in time but had a morning flight into Monterey. I was exhausted from travel and had early afternoon meetings so this was priceless. Nothing else matters.
