I've had chronic pain and weakness in my right wrist for 8 years now, and I thought that nothing could be done for it. Boy was I wrong! I started seeing Alyssa Lopez at Spine and Sport Kearny Mesa and it has been such a lifechanger for me. Alyssa is always upbeat, personable, and positive - she encourages you through all of your exercises and takes a genuine interest in you. She makes sure you have all of the support and knowledge you need to make real, positive changes in your life - both in the Spine and Sport facility and at home, making sure you have all the necessary equipment to follow up on your exercises at home. After just 12 sessions with her, I already have significantly less pain in my wrist, and a documented increase in both strength and mobility. This is the first time in my life I've been truly sad to not be able to see a medical professional anymore (because of insurance limitations). Not to mention the facility - it's always clean and well-lit, and has every piece of equipment you could ever need, along with a friendly group of employees. I cannot sing their praises enough!

Up until now I have had great sessions.no complaints. Recently I had a therapist named Michael. Never again. His attempts to work on me made my skin crawl. There's something distinctly unprofessional and unseemly about his manner and I will not allow him to work on me in the future. At the time, his strange and unhelpful comments, uttered under his breath, did not help the situation. I also observed his behavior with his workmates and also overheard a few comments of other clients and it seems I might not be the only one he displeases. Solution: He may need another vocation. I've discussed this with friends who encouraged me to post this here and elsewhere to prevent potential issues from arising with other clients in the future.

Most of the therapists and therapist assistants are good. Oscar is simply amazing! Unfortunately, there's always one bad apple that spoils the bunch. Allison was cleaning the table next to me and made a disparaging remark about a past client having disgusting, greasy hair in a very loud, derisive tone of voice. I'm certain we all have our opinions of others, however, there are appropriate times for those public expressions and totally inappropriate times. Allison clearly requires some additional training on unprofessional behavior in the workplace.

If you want to work on equipment that is barely functional and sweat on carpeted floors while the over worked DPT’s split time between you and at least one if not two other patients then this is the place for you. Call the front desk and be welcomed with a “Thanks for your call please hold…” and wait for several minutes or until your call is dropped. I can’t speak for all the Spine & Sport locations but this one needs a major upgrade. $160 for a twenty five minute appointment half of which was walking on a treadmill. Look elsewhere.

The place is super messy and always busy, the physical therapist will take multiple patients at the same time and don’t allow time to focus on one patients health and well-being. I don’t recommend this place for any of my fiends and family. They have other branches in El Cajon that are awesome and will give you the care you deserve!

Rude receptionist (s)
I was early for my very first appointment and I let them both know. Wondering if I should check in I stood there, in front of both of them, they completely ignored me! Talking between themselves and a therapist who walked up.finally I said "should I sit down? " then one of them asked "what time was my appointment", I told her. "And what's your name", I told her. Then she said again, "what time is your appointment" so I told her again. "And what's your name" I said it much slower this time. Then she handed me a mask. I said "no thank you" she said "its required". I said "not for me, have a nice day" and I left. Will never go there for PT.
