The most helpful staff & best customer service. I could spend hours in the store looking through all the cool stuff, and I appreciate all the brands that they stock. I choose SportsBasement over REI any day.

My son needed comfortable, sturdy walking shoes for his semester abroad. The help we received from the salesperson at SB Presidio was superb! He knew the inventory inside out and found the perfect pair for my son. We wouldn’t dream of going anywhere else to shop!

Super helpful! I'm definitely a novice cyclist and still have a TON to learn, so felt a bit embarrassed to bring my bike in to change a flat I couldn't seem to manage on my own. The repair guys were so nice and even gave me a few tips, plus got it done super fast. Love SB, will keep coming back!

Sports Basement has a great selection of products, generous membership discounts, nice employees, and most importantly, they allow customers to bring their dogs inside! Cooper always appreciates his Sports Basement trips

Love this store and workers were very helpful, just took a little while to find someone who was available to help in shoe department. Would be useful to have a few people there on the ready if that section gets a couple customers.

I needed new sneakers and the shoes I had been wearing for years are no longer available. They’re just an older model and the new versions don’t work for me. I went to Sports Basement because it’s my go to store for sports gear.

For me, it’s always hard to find a new sneaker and this trip to the store started out tough. I tried on 10 different pairs and none felt quite right.

Then Shannon came to help and she was amazing. She knows so much about shoes, shoe design, and body mechanics. She was a life saver and helped me find sneakers that work great for me. She was also helping another woman at the same time and we both were amazed at Shannon’s knowledge and how helpful she was. Sports Basement continues to be my favorite active gear store because they have great products and everyone there is so knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. Thank you, Shannon! Another successful Sports Basement trip.

I found a new favorite walking shoes here at a 25% discount at the SF store. It was busy, lines were long but it didn't take long to process everybody. It all went smoothly. You have to know what you want as there was only 1 person working in the Shoe Dept. A busy Sunday afternoon here.

I recently moved to the Bay Area and since discovering Sports Basement I've been struggling to stay away! I love that I can bring my dog when I'm browsing and buying all the outdoor things I didn't know I needed.

I went in to Sports Basement needing to replace my tennis shoes. I was so excited to see they had the brand I wanted, and then disappointed and frustrated when there were none in my size, in that brand or any other as far as I could tell. It wasn’t the first time. Then Matt comes along and asks if he could help. He ignored my temper and went about searching thru all the merchandise until he was able to find not one, but two pairs of tennis shoes in my size. Graciously waited to see if they worked for me, and was almost as happy as I was that they fit! Matt is a terrific customer service person, has a great attitude, enjoys his work, and made my day! Thank you Matt.

For the past 15 years, when I travel to San Francisco, I always make it a point to visit and shop at the Sports Basement. Over the July 4th weekend, I purchased several parts to my new electric bike and all parts were promptly installed. Good service is the norm.

Overall it’s still great and in general people who work there have been extremely helpful and knowledgeable, especially the one on Bryant street. I went to the presidio store because the Bryant one didn’t have the color I wanted. So I ventured out to the presidio store and the was confused about the layout. I approached one of the associates there and asked if they had a new, unboxed bag instead of the one on the floor. The guy looked at me and gave me the “why are you bothering me, you get what you see look”. He didn’t say “let me check the inventory, or I’m sorry, this is all we have available now” answer. This was really surprising coming from Sports Basement. In general, everyone else was still nice and the check out associate was very friendly. Perhaps you can hire some secret shoppers to do continuous QA with the employees?

One of the biggest sports retailer in Bay Area. This Presidio location is quite huge and thus offer the widest array of sports-related stuff. I justcdidn't particularly like the way shoes are displayed, sort of a hyped sale merchandising - shoe boxes are stocked on the floor and customers have to grab the style/size they want to fit without any help from store staff. Shoe pricing isn't clearly indicated and some models in the display section where you're supposed to check the prices are missing. Oh, in terms of shoes, there are very limited brands, mostly high-end ones.

Awesome service, helpful but not pushy and gave me the best option for my budget. Thanks sports basement I always leave feeling like I spent my hard earned $$ at a great place and so much a part of our outdoorsy community.

I was having issues with my bike and had a flat tire. They quickly diagnosed the issues. I left the bike for the repairs and new tire. I picked it up when they notified me the repairs were complete. Very efficient process. Employees were knowledgeable and very pleasant. Repairs fixed the problems. Overall an excellent experience. Highly recommend the bike repairs dept!

Update: I needed a part for my bike and checked the Trek store first but they did not have it in stock. Then went to SB and they had the part and installed it within 15 minutes. I love SB!

So happy to have a convenient place to buy gear in person. Bought a pack that suits me better than I would have otherwise. Also pleased with their discount membership program that lets me contribute to my charity while reducing my purchase price.

Great sports shop selling everything to do with sports. Camping, Skiing, Biking, mountaineering, fitness etc etc.clothing, footwear, health food. Store seems rundown a lot since last visit in 2018. Restrooms needed cleaning but that may have just been a timing of visit issue. Rental has become a bigger focus since last visit.

I was there to buy a new pair of running shoes, and I found a perfect fit at a reasonable price. The checkout procedure was friendly and quick, as always. Also I love the 10% Sports Basementeer discount.

Histrionic location in the Presidio. Great selection of gear for about all your outdoor needs. Bike rentals for scene the Golden gate is key. Super friendly staff too.

I had to come back and take a star away after a recent visit. I know in the current world just having a bathroom available is a blessing, but SB has modeled their public bathroom after the punk rock bathrooms of 1990's San Francisco. Fixtures leaking off the walls, stickers/ graffiti, and the wetness flowing across the floor. The details takes me back to the Kennel Club. Bike shoes Beware.
