Sportsman's Hall reviews
15Just moved to Pollock Pines and have this place a try. The decor is old and could use some TLC (torn bench seats, dirty window sills), but the waitress was so friendly and the food was soooo good! I had the French toast, which was very flavorful, mom had what she called the best waffle in her life, and my wife had an omelet that she ate for 3 days! The bacon was cooked perfectly, and I'm not sure if the sausage is house made, but it was a big patty with great flavor. We grabbed a few fresh apple turnovers to go that are house made. We can't wait to go back for dinner!
Sportsman's Hall is a rarity in the fact that is a historic building that once was a stop for the pony express and is really a great restaurant now! Its iconic decorations give it excellent atmosphere and the food with its large portions and reasonable prices as well as being fresh and tasty make it a place I look forward to enjoying. I almost don't want to recommend it to any one because I love that we can go there and its a short wait to get your food. Definitely 5 stars all the way!
We had an amazing breakfast today. First time here and we will be back. Had the Reuben sandwich and she had the French Toast. A new favorite place of ours.
Fantastic hot food and service with a smile! Great experience! Will be back to try the pies!
We used to come here years ago. It's nothing like it used to be. They used to have a 40 oz steak, and if you ate it all including the sides, it was free and you got your name on a plaque on the wall.
Now days, they want $14.99 for 3 pieces of bacon and two eggs for breakfast. A regular old cheeseburger is $14.99. A grilled cheese sandwich is $10 there.
And what are we getting for the money? Not much. The food isn't that special. There are better places to eat for less money.
They were never really known for being a cheap place to eat, but this is ridiculous. Get out of here.
Excellent Dinner during our road trip between Lake Tahoe and San Francisco.
Price more than reasonable!
Our oldest son and his wife took us yo lunch there. Great service and fabulous food. We will return to the place again.
Do not let the decorations fool you, their food is delicious, portions are big and service was great.
Always enjoy the food and service here. They work hard to please.
Leaving California to escape the ignorant Governor newsom and tax structure, and the silly power outages. This is one of the places we will miss. Look forward to a visit back to here. Thanks
We had some work to do in the area and stopped here for lunch. The food was great and the staff was welcoming and friendly. When we are back in this area, we will definitely eat here again.
The people that work here are so kind, and the portion sizes are large. We always have a nice time here.
I frequent sportsman hall. Yet today I waited 20 minutes for a glass of water then another 10 minutes for waitress to take my order.
Plus it's bad business ethics when servers are yelling to other staff. They should walk up & talk softly to others.
Ruins the atmosphere.
The food was good & hot, but no one should have to wait that long for water & to take your order.
No quality service, no tip!
I'll revisit, but sure hope their service improves.
What a disappointment.
Suggest management pay attention to their customers after they're seated & how their staff/buswaiters present themself.
Good food at a nice diner with some cool atmosphere, they got classic diner food with great service. 9/10 will come back
Great food, huge menu, rustic and full of gold rush era history. Building built in the 1800s. I've eaten there several times, usually going to or coming from South Lake Tahoe.
