Surprisingly very mediocre experience. I came for lunch and took the pre-selected menu (crab toast, buckwheat crepe and pavlova). Some staff were nice, some never even returned me a smile (despite the mandatory 20% tip). Food was absolutely average. Presentation 5 out 5 but the taste was barely 3 out 5, especially for the price. My brunch wasn't worth 130+ USD I paid. Do not recommend

Really good food with an upscale but laid back neighborhood vibe. Fantastic service. See Cheryl at the bar! Recommend the tuna tonnato and steak with chanterelles.

Had Saturday brunch here - 3 course prix fixe menu. Very nice atmosphere and large portion dishes. Decent service, but not quite to the MICHELIN Star standard - for example, they didn’t pay attention to replacing used utensils between courses. The biggest disappointment was the food. For the price (>$100/person), no dish really stood out. Short ribs were dry and didn’t have much taste. Halibut was somewhat overcooked.

I was eager to go to Spruce’s as I’ve been told that the place is amazing. Unfortunately, it did not meet my expectations as the service was terrible. My waiter was very pleasant but I waited for nearly an hour (for two people) to get my second course. I then ask for updates for the food and did not get a response back. The steak was spectacular however as well as the brioche. I would say the place was way overpriced for the quality. Overall 3.5/5 stars.

Amazing Lunch!
We enjoyed a private dining event at Spruce for lunch and it was perfect! They created a relaxing and comfortable atmosphere with warm welcoming staff. The food was delicious and the wine selection was on point. We enjoyed every piece of our meal and really appreciate the attention to detail they provided through our whole day.

We had an amazing experience here and I hope to be back some time soon. Possibly the best cod I’ve had in the Bay Area so far. Great quiet street with trees, really nice atmosphere. Awesome outdoors space. Thank you to the whole Spruce team.

Great restaurant with inspired food. We love a multi-course tasting menu, and while the number of courses were limited, every course was delicious

Robust 4 star spot. They do desserts especially well. I’ve had better for less but overall, they deserve to be a fine dining spot.

I came here on my birthday for their brunch service and it was wonderful. First off, the service was great, it was professional and attentive yet relaxed and friendly. They even gave me a birthday card when I first arrived as well as a delicious birthday dessert later which I really appreciated. I enjoyed all of the food that I got as well! The brunch started with a just baked coffee cake for the table and that was the perfect way to begin, best coffee cake ever!
I had the Dungeness crab toast and that was my favorite thing that I had, it was so mouthwatering and had such yummy flavors. For the main course, I had the red wine braised short ribs with poached eggs, grits, and black truffle, and it was delicious as well. They also had White Asparagus available for a supplemental charge so we added that on as a side. The white chocolate crémeux was such a refreshing dessert, I'm so glad that I got that one!

I have been coming here for many years. My favorites are still the hamburger and the steamed mussels. Generally, I like to come in for lunch and sit at the bar. The last time I was here, though, the menu was strangely prefixed and the price was fixed. It's possible this changed since I came in last but I was not too excited about the prefixed lunch. One thing that hasn't changed are the most incredible chocolate chip cookies, which are enormous, and very delicious. Some times, I just stop by to get the cookie. Overall, a very nice place in a very lovely neighborhood. I just read they lost their Michelin star but, honestly, it doesn't make a difference in my selecting them for a beautiful meal

Beautiful setting for an evening out. Great service and the waitress took her time to give recommendations and describe the dishes. There were a few complimentary bites a long the way that were a pleasant and welcome surprise. Cocktails were balanced nicely and the food cooked to perfection with plenty of sauces!

This was my second time at Spruce - it has a great prix fixe menu and an amazing collection of wines (by the bottle). Food quality and presentation are great! So is the atmosphere and service. Parking can be challenging in the neighborhood so please allow 10-15 min to find something streetside.

Went there for a birthday dinner in March. Despite marking down the special occasion and reminding them about it before the dinner, they didn’t send a cake or a pasta until I had to ask for it specifically. The entire evening service was sup-bar, food was lackluster starting with the French rolls and echoing throughout the courses. Gotta say no wonder they lost their Michelin star if that’s the kind of experience you get here on a regular basis.

Short version: just eat here.

Longer version: we did a 3 course tasting menu with a few extras. Literally everything tasted great so no bad options on our table. The service was impeccable. Personable, but not overbearing. The wine selection and cocktails are on point.

The space itself is classy, but come as you are. We wore polos (two dudes) and the table next to us had a lady in a ball gown. Just do you. Make a reservation. You won't regret it.

This place is 10/10 in all aspects. I took my husband to this place to celebrate his birthday and we both enjoyed the service, atmosphere and the food! Loved our waitress and all the staff. Very friendly and welcoming!

They offer a nice, but pricey brunch menu on Sundays—dining room seating is only available to those who are there for the three-course brunch. A la carte is served in their bar/lounge area, and it’s walk-in only.
Also, I didn’t have any cell reception.

Freaking love the food here and the service is A1 too. They had the most excellent of menus and the atmosphere is one of a kind.
