This place is mid. I mean, the food wasn’t horrible…but dude, $15 for half a sandwich? Wow. The price range for the quantity of food just doesn’t make sense. The vegan loaf was pretty good and was priced ($4).

That said, staff and everyone was good and friendly. Just can’t justify spending money here for a meal.

Really was amazing. If you are visiting go early on a weekday morning to avoid a crazy line. We went 4 times in one week just to try as much as possible.

Update. Still good.breakfast sandwich is bomb.

Ok so, here’s my hot take. I can see why people are obsessed, I think I just messed up my ordering the bowl/salad. Wasn’t my vibe but can’t deny that people love it. Will have to come back and try other stuff on the menu, which I am very much looking forward to. People TRIP over the bacon- doesn’t do it for me, but that’s what’s beautiful about food, people have diff experiences and taste. Appreciate the good services friendliness and vibe.

This place is a VIBE and I’m here for it! The Veg Stock Sandwich is one of the best things I’ve ever eaten - the perfect hearty, toasted bread, tahini and a dressed shredded vegetables YUM! The Pumpkin Spice Latte is in a league of its own - so much so it almost shouldn’t share a name with the over commercialized version - it’s heaven! I got mine with oat milk and coconut whip on the barista’s recommendation and it was worth it! Love everything about this place and will be back to shop the market next time!

The food is good but still overpriced for what it is. My omelette was cold when it came out. And meals came out at completely different times so we weren’t able to eat brunch together really. Biggest grievance, the pressure tipping starts at 18% at checkout… and they don’t even bring silverware or water to the table.

Make sure you are comfortable eating on the sidewalk. This place is good for simple dishes that are done extremely well. We got the almond and ricotta cake, the berry double baked croissant, the morn breakfast sandwich and the famous ricotta toast. The almond and ricotta cake was the biggest let down, it was like a light lemon pound cake. Not what you expect from the name, and not all that special, but still good. The croissant was extremely dense, when you think of a croissant you don't think of pound cake but that is basically the density of this thing. The jam and berries made this item a tasty dessert for breakfast. Next was the morn breakfast sandwich, it was hard and strange but tasty. It is an English muffin, hash brown, scrambled egg, and a cheese sauce, the hash browns were very hard after being fried which means that when you take a bite most of the sandwich will spill out the other side, and if you try to cut it the entire sandwich will slide around the plate. The egg was scrambled but was dense because it was missing the air folded into it. The cheese was like a cross between a fondue and American cheese, strange but tasty. The ricotta toast was tasty, but unfortunately they burnt the toast so it kinda ruined the first bite of the dish. However without the burnt crust it is an extremely tasty toast.

I’ve been here a few times and the food is definitely good (though overhyped for sure). The service is not great. Food always takes a very long time to come out, no one had wiped down our table. And when I asked about an update on our order (just one dish) I was told 40 minutes — I was a bit surprised and asked to confirm — and the server said to me that this is peak service so yes 40 minutes. Which, sure, but it was said in a way that came off as dismissive and rude and like I was the rude one for asking. 40 min for a non sit down restaurant is really pushing it.

This review is about two of Sqirl's staff mistreatment of delivery drivers like myself:

Picked up a delivery here earlier today and there was a female server I encountered that was rude af. There is also another rude lady who's usually behind the register but was not there today, thank goodness, but I guess she got replaced by a clone.

Both RUDE. AS F. I reduced taking jobs here because of the reguster lady and even avoid driving by there so I don't ruin my day even though I live less than a mile away. The PTSD lordddd have mercy. Whatever.

This server (pic) however got to me because, after our brief interaction, she appeared to go inside and toy with a tablet /iPad that might have had my info/driver profile. She looked over at me as if to study me or something. We made eye contact. It was awkward. But my concern is that she may have blocked me or somehow rated me lower, etc. Which was not fair because all I did as you will see below is ask her to help me with my order.

And if I do find that out, just understand that I will work my damnest to fight it. Please believe that!

I'm a proud union actor and I'm working my butt off to survive this strike. Rude and nasty people like this server deserve to be put on blast!

So.

I have picked up orders from Sqirl before, perhaps 6-8 or more times. I live about a mile away and I'm familiar with the place and know that our pick up is inside, but today the gentleman in white (and a very professional and kind one at that - thank you to him as well as another sweet, sweet guy who usually wears his long dark hair in a ponytail) was on the phone and I didn't want to crowd the entry area (as someone was delivering items), so I waited outside where this server happened to be. I heard her say something to the effect of "do you need any help? " and so I turned, asked if she worked there (because I wasnt sure if she was talking to me or others walking around and staff doesnt seem to wear uniform). She said yes, so I pulled my phone up to her and said, "yeah I'm pick-" and before I could finish my sentence, she interrupted, pointed to counter area and said with the crudest, nastiest tone "pick up inside" so I said "well, you were asking if I needed help. I was just asking" I walked inside and got my stuff and as I was leaving I see her on the iPad.

But I write this not to be a tattle tail, but to remind businesses that even though I am a mere disposable delivery driver, the more I and my fellow service providers get mistreated the less drivers will want to do this job and eventually businesses will have to go the expensive route to fulfill orders.

And not to mention that I have to now completely decline orders from here if I'm not blocked - with this place because I don't want to this type of tension. And of course I will never recommend a place like this ever to try it for the food or for pickups to my driver friends.

This gig is so stressful as it is. Trying to find parking w/out getting tickets and driving safely in the jungle that is L. A, is challenging, but to show up w/all the enthusiasm only to be talked down to is just so sad and pathetic.

Lovely service, food was awesome. The sorrel rice is AMAZING. The shakshuka could do with removing the fake Indian flavour - giving ready meal vibes

Cute spot with nice vibes. Seems like they lean in way too hard on their aesthetic graphic design. The food was fine but not worth the long wait and expensive prices. I don't feel a need to come back

The sandwich I order was delicious and the rhubarb lemonade was incredibly refreshing - so good!

There isn’t one thing I’ve tried at Sqirl that I haven’t liked. Everything including the coffee is amazing. The service is always great and I love to see the same people there each time I go.

Menu is extensive and every little quirky/hipster detail is described - a little bit hard to choose! You have to order first at the counter and not many seats are available, so it's better for smaller parties. Shop next door has interesting items. But in the end, to what matters, coffee is amazing and food is pretty good as well!

Great local business with excellent quality. I got the famous Ricotta Toast and so happy with decision to try all the jams they offered because it was perfect. The staff is super friendly and it’s great place for Sunday brunch!

Terrible service. Most everyone that works there is straight up rude. Makes me not want to revisit. I recommend pick up order

I was in LA for a day to get an international visa. Sqirl was on the list to try the famed ricotta toast. It didn't disappoint! Thick brioche topped with pillowy whipped ricotta - so rich but the jams give it a nice sweet kick. I don't recall it being an option, but it would also be great drizzled with some EVOO.

I'd make a return the next time I'm in LA.

Order at the counter door on the left and grab a seat or order takeout at the pantry door on the right. There’s always a few specials on the board as well. All time favorite is the Salmon Sorrel Rice. It’s a fixation at this point. Their new coffee drink in the photo features a most incredible made-from-scratch-with-expensive-tasting-vanilla syrup. I usually like my coffee black but this was a delightful cold treat. Some of the staff are nice, others are grouchy. They’re doing the whole “we work somewhere cool” thing so don’t take it personally. Enjoy!

AMAZING! Such a delicious, creative, and quirky brunch place! Even starting with the drinks, they were very unique. The red juice was very unique and I can see an audience for it, though I am personally not a fan of the spicy ginger taste. However, I LOVED the strawberry matcha even though I am usually not the biggest matcha person. They serve it starting with matcha on top and strawberry milk on the bottom, and even sipping just the pure matcha layer the flavor is so strong and fresh you can’t not love it. Then you mix with the strawberry milk layer below and the whole drink has a lovely sweet earthy flavor. Also cannot rave enough about their donut of the day. When we went it was a citrusy donut with lemon/orange flavored icing, a donut hole in the middle, topped with dried orange slices and clementines and flowers. The texture of the donut was so light and fluffy and the icing was sweet but not overpowering. When sally met sally was also quite good. I really liked the texture of the bread, which had an abundance of nuts and even quinoa. When we went they were out of lox, but it was still good. The thick cut brioche bun was excellent on the special BLT was so good; the baked goods are really excellent here. Sorrel pesto bowl was also good but not as amazing as the other dishes despite being one of the Sqirl classic dishes. Line was not too long either! Would come back.
