St Mel Catholic Church helped me in my hour of need 4 years ago. They didn’t make me feel humiliated because I’m more the giver & love to help others in any way I can. Unfortunately, I’m finding myself needing help once again because I was unceremoniously laid off on 3.31.23 (a date I’ll never forget) when the new company came in like a wrecking ball destroying my life. I am shattered. I thought I had job security after they met with the staff back in December 2022 when they told us that we won’t lose our jobs & i breathed a sigh of relief, only to discover that there is no such thing as honesty. Unfortunately the new owners, SKILLED MANAGEMENT, INC took advantage of this cold & barbaric “AT-WILL” law they have in CA. At 66 & being a widow, it issn’t easy finding a job. I developed a wonderful & loving bond with the residents & we thoroughly enjoyed the programs I’d put together for them as their Activity Coordinator. We laughed & we cried together. When I had to say my goodbyes, I was sobbing as we hugged each other tight. I miss them so much. PLEASE DO NOT send your loved one to SUMMIT ASSISTED LIVING OF TARZANA, 5711 Reseda Blvd, Tarzana, CA 91356! Skilled Management, Inc, who brought the company from ALAMO SENIOR LIVING are no better than Alamo, leaving the residents to fend for themselves, so because of my empathetic nature, I have promised to be their voice in a cold & harsh world of assisted living.

As a wedding photo booth vendor in San Fernando Valley (Annnd. Action! Photo Booth), we had the pleasure to provide services to a bride and groom who got married in the church, then held their reception in the Msgr. Michael J. O'Connor Activities Hall. The hall is a large auditorium with a stage, canteen and large lobby. Triple sets of doors allow for excellent traffic flow and a way to create ambience with all doors open, or just the middle, or sides. There are doors to the outside of the auditorium space making it very functional for all types of activities and vendors. Also, multiple ramps for ADA (or load-in) access. Lots of parking for your guests. Security on site is friendly and watchful. The space was clean and had natural light. Tons of potential! Last, Julian at the church was lovely to deal with and answered all of our pre-event questions. We look forward to an opportunity to attend another event at St. Mel's and see how other brides and grooms will use the space.

I really like how the father explains and the people who help do it with great devotion and respect

Community prayer is essential. Being able to celebrate the Spiritual Food that Jesus gave us, The Eucharist, each Sunday here is a joy. There are so many wonderful Ministries that this Church offers. My family is so happy to belong to St. Mel's.

This is my absolute favorite church to come to. I try stopping by whenever I drive by. It’s so peaceful and beautiful.

I’ve been attending this church for a year and a half. The mass is welcoming but becoming a member of the church has been difficult why I have taken out stars. To serve I constantly reached out to be ignored maybe they don’t have time and constantly told to send an email weekly when they already reviewed my email and even talked to me in person but the answer was just send more emails for the same thing. When I joined a group I didn’t have the Same resources as the others did such as becoming ministers of the Eucharist while I was informed to work on the streets as a new member to evangelize which I had no background in or lessons. When I reached out for scheduling pastors overlooked my questions and scheduling but other than that they can perform a great service as long as you don’t want to join or keep your head down with no questions and don’t engage great friendly atmosphere as long as you don’t need anything extra besides mass

Nice church easy to access. We were visitors but it seemed to be a vibrant young parish. We stay at a Hilton Hotel when we're in the area so this is very convenient and a nice church for us. Good music

This parish is clean, well maintained with several active ministries including a Knights of Columbus Council (pictured). Those I encountered here were friendly. I would definitely attend Mass here again if in the area.

Our pastor, Fr. Steve added confession everyday and Holy Mass at 5: 30 during the week. What a blessing he is for us. Even now, with all the government's restrictions during this pandemic, he still hears confessions everyday. We appreciate Fr. Steve and Fr. Lima so much. May God bless them abundantly.
