Star of Siam Thai Cuisine - Soquel Village reviews
18Green Curry was really good and fresh! Pinapple fried rice was very tasty, and it was a huge portion!
We were on our way to Beach and wanted to try Thai cuisine. This was our first time here, and had lovely lunch.
Host was kind and welcoming, food was amazing and service was top notch!
Definitely good spot!
Food is as excellent as ever. Flavors are good and love the atmosphere. Yes it is a bit slow but hey good food takes time. Come here to relax and enjoy the food. Portions are generous.
Food is the best! Thai spicy for real. Rose the waitresses is the sweetest and best server around! The papaya salad and Tom Kha are great, but so is everything!
I wish the green curry was not watery. Would have preferred thicker consistency. Service was good. Food also tasted good and was well made.
I would personally recommend their pot stickers and Tom kha soup. Courteous and fast service.
Incredible! The smell when you walk in says it all. Great service! The food was excellent from the appetizers to the desert —> I definitely recommend you the FBI! Yummy
AMAZING SERVICE. The sweetest servers I love this restaurant I will be back in the future me & my boyfriend we’re coming from out of town and we’re in the mood for some really good Thai food this is the first place that popped up on Google I am so happy that I found this restaurant. Very.professional very sweet.and very down to earth IF you want someone to treat you like you’re at home come to this restaurant. You will not regret it. I will be back whenever I am near Santa Cruz thank you so much for all your hard work and all your servers and I hope God blesses this establishment.
Star of Siam is the best Thai restaurant we have been to in Santa Cruz County. The menu has a vast selection of authentic Thai dishes. The staff are kind and attentive, and the prices are quite reasonable. You'll enjoy the food and experience there.
98% of the time my reviews are positive. But I felt I needed to share our experience. My wife and I decided to try Star for the first time, but when we went in and were told to sit anywhere we then waited for over 10 minutes for anyone to come ask us if we'd like water/drink.
We then had as our server a woman who was a little older and possibly an owner. She was pleasant enough at first while we ordered. We told her we couldn't have spicy food, but we'd like the tilapia but with the penang curry sauce. It usually comes with salmon. She said it was no problem to make it with the tilapia instead and make it not spicy. We also got the chicken satay, pad thai and pineapple fried rice.
Out of 5 stars I rate the dishes:
Chicken Satay- ** Chicken is pounded too thin and long and ends up dry.
Pad Thai- * The worst I've ever tasted. Very heavy handed on the tamarind. The dish looked more like pasta with marinara sauce it was so red! It lacked flavor and we ordered it with shrimp and only got 2 shrimp!
Pineapple Fried Rice- *** Rice was ok, but was lacking flavor as well.
TILAPIA- 0 out of 5 stars Our server brought us the wrong order. She brought salmon and it was so spicy it almost made me sick. When we told her it wasn't what we ordered she insisted we made the mistake not her. We assured her we ordered it correctly, but her entire demeanor changed and she rolled her eyes and started ignoring us. Then she came to the table and demanded that we ordered another item. So we ordered the fresh spring rolls which were very good. She was mad we ordered those cause they weren't as expensive as the fish. After that she proceeded to walk by our table to check on the customers behind us but ignored us. We had to ask for our bill. We did give her the usual tip.
*****If you're in Monterey and want excellent thai food try Siamese Bay. The owner is very sweet and he's been there for over 45 years. And if you ask for a no spice sauce his chef gets it right
We were looking for a nice warm atmosphere, small restaurant to eat something nice and authentic. But this was a wrong choice. Unusual form of service, our waitress performing was unprofessional. Food was served in a wrong order, salad and appetizers came the last. She left us unattended, without chopsticks, without any ability to ask her for anything. She brings the plate and immediately turns around and leaves. It was very uncomfortable, we had to wait for her next appearance to ask her anything. Table-serving look at the picture.not appetizing, only one plate with the fork laying on the wrinkled napkin. Hot tea is unknown origin, no tea bags, it was sweet colored hot water with ginger taste. The food is nuh. Whole eating experience felt suspiciously of food that was served. Barely touched. A place to never return to.
Comfortable atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff, good location and best of all the food has been consistently well prepared along with nice portions
Good food. Good service. Very busy with take out orders. Everything was fresh and delicious.
I’ve been coming here regularly since 2014 and I can easily say this is the best Thai food in town. The food has ALWAYS been delicious. The staff is extremely friendly and attentive. The fresh spring rolls are incredible, panang and yellow curry are two of my favorites as well. I’ve celebrated birthdays, brought friends and family here, everyone I know loves their food.
The food, the ambiance, the experience are amazing! I have never had Thai food better than they served me here. Worth every penny and more.
Red Curry and Panang Curry were delish!
The spicy level was mild - medium out of the kitchen. I like it very spicy so I added chili oil and pepper flake and that did the trick! Both were flavorful, creamy, herbaceous, fresh and rich. I wish the curries come with rice but they don't, it's an extra cost. The service was good and attentive. It's not a modern looking spot but the flavor is where it counts. If you're wanting curry and debating between this place and the other Thai place down the street (sawasdee), choose this spot! Hands down. The curries at the other one are super watery, just sayin'
I've tried eating here 3 times already. I've sat and waited for anyone to take my order. Every time Ive walked out after at least 10 minutes of being ignored. It's not like this place ever gets crowded. HIRE MORE PEOPLE!
I've eaten here for MANY years, always the best of thai in Santa Cruz. My fav's are Basil Eggplant, Yellow Curry Noodles.
