Starving Artists Bistro, Fresno CA

We went for an early lunch and the food was not very good. To be fair, I don't think the food is the selling point.

The atmosphere is very relaxed/casual and the restaurant has a ton of music memorabilia. The artist theme is definitely the focus - and that was 100% met.

Based on my experience, I'd say this place would be great for appetizers, drinks, and live music with friends.

This place is always great and consistent. One of the best live entertainment venues in Fresno

My girlfriend and I came here for an anniversary date night. The Starving Artist Bistro has a wonderful, personable ambiance. I don’t think I had one interaction with any staff that wasn’t enjoyable. The food wasn’t amazing, but to be fair they had a large church party seated inside. We arrived and the inside seating was full due to the large party, but they quickly and kindly accommodated outside seating with extra heating as well as opening the doors up for us to be able to get the music experience as well. The owner spent time talking to us, sharing his story behind the restaurant & the artists singing & playing. The staff even played! We were checked on many times even with the busy inside. I wish I didn’t live far, I’d visit frequently. Worth the visit for sure.

Great Family Bistro and local musical Talents. They have open mic from 11am to closing and can play what music you like as the Owner of the Bistro pays for BMI Ascap.

There were 3 of us and the only table in there for lunch! Very disappointed in the service and lunch! Been there half dozen times before, food was fantastic and the service was great, we don't know what has happened! It just was not as good as before!

The prime rib just melts in your mouth. Juicy and first class service. Best place to eat in all of Fresno!

Great Place. Artists from the Region perform live on Stage. Nice Mix. Great Service. Portions not too big. We liked the Place a Lot!

Great food and atmosphere. Very polite and on top of things stuff. I've been here many times. Im a local small business owner myself. So I know what it means to have great customers. You got two different options of music. Inside or outside. Plus the art on the wall is for sale. I've personally purchased 4 pieces at amazing prices. I cant wait to go back and see whats new. Plus the food is very good. So its hard to go wrong. Food, Music and Art.

I always enjoy eating here. The food is delicious. Never disappointed. The caramel Appletini wasn't that good but I'm not taking stars away for it. I think the girl making the drink was new to it. I tell my friends about this place.

1st time here at the recommendation of a friend and we really enjoyed ourselves! This is a bar/grill/restaurant that showcases local artists and it's a lot of fun to hang out, have a little food, have a few drinks and enjoy the local talent. Check it out!

Food was delicious, best burger ive had. Staff is friendly, attentive, and quick service. Mixed dinks were a bit strong but delicious nonetheless.
I recommend their barbeque and their chipotle mayo dip.
Would have been five stars, if the sound wasnt at a very loud volume. We did ask for them to turn it down.they didnt turn it down. Be prepared for how loud, as loud as a concert.
Only about three booths and six tables.
One bar but multiple options for drinks.
You can buy the art off the wall.
Live music played every night.

It was a great experience, mine and my wife's first time there. Food was awesome and portions were big, Home made chicken fried steak was huge and delicious. Best I have ever had anywhere. We will definitely be going back.

I'm not going to let my first visit scare me away. I didn't like My pulled pork sandwich because there was no slaw with it and the bun was burnt. But I kept seeing tacos that other people were getting that looked delicious.
Oh and my bloody Mary was delicious and had a kick.
So I'll definitely be back.

Wonderful place with art on the walls for sale, fabulous food and drinks, great wait staff and owners. I go every time I'm in town.

The fact that there was live music is what allowed me to give this place 2 stars otherwise it would be 1. My pasta had clearly been sitting so long it started to clump up. The steak was dry, even though we ordered it medium. The meatloaf was good but nothing to write home about. The service.now that is what really killed this place. The hostess was smug and unfriendly. Our waitress was slow at everything. It took forever to get anything from her. Super disappointed
