Stone Brewing Tap Room - Kettner, San Diego CA

We wanted to go to a brewery in San Diego and so Stone brewing company was a top choice. We were glad they had a taproom close to downtown! We tried the Day Fall, Day Light Fall their double IPA, and their special unicorn chai stout. I’m a stout scout - so this Unicorn Chau stout was a gamechanger for me. I’ve never had a better stout in my life! Also their hazy ipa is one of the best beers I’ve ever had. It’s super light, a little ipa-ish and super yum!

Great place! The staff are very friendly and the beer is always cold. They also have outdoor fire pits, which are amazing on a chilly, beautiful day. Great spot for any Stone beer fan.

Of course you have to go to stone brewing when in the area. The ambiance is awesome. Outdoor sitting next to the fire table after hours is great. Beer is fantastic. Lots of big beers with great flavor. Didn’t let me down.

Stone Brewing is a staple of the American and of course, California brewing culture. It’s been many years since I’ve had any of their brews. Luckily, it was a short walk from our hotel, and we stopped by after getting situated in our room post-arrival in San Diego. Upon entry, we were greeted warmly by taproom workers. My wife and I were highly impressed by hospitality and the beer quality. This may just be a satellite location but it leaves a good impression of the Stone brand.

Refreshing outdoor oasis with plenty of seating for solo or small groups. Feel comfortable reading a book and enjoying the atmosphere. This is a good find.

Awesome beer selection and cool merch! They have a lovely outdoor seating area to enjoy a beer or hard seltzer. It’s a chain and there are a few throughout San Diego.

Enjoyed my experience here. Not only good beer, but certain members of the staff were awesome as well. This is a for-sure stop if you are in the area.

Great place! The staff is so totally awesome and quite friendly - made the experience even better! They brought out water for the doggos, and the beers were great and fun to try! As an out of towner, I’d highly recommend this place.

Visited there while on vacation and doing a thorough tour of San Diego breweries. Probably the nicest outdoor space to hang out if you wanted some peace and quite while sipping your brews.

Very much enjoyed this brewery. Always loved stone to begin with. The employees were great and helpful and knowledgeable. They don’t have a kitchen but you can bring in outdoor food and they had good suggestions. Outside area was very nice. Beers were of course fantastic!

Excellent beers, always a great vibe - it simply doesn't feel like you are in a city!
Every Stone spot is a little different, but they all seem to have some continuity. Kudos to the team that chooses and sets up the retail locations!

Cool spot in downtown San Diego! Stopped by on our way to the gas lamp district. Lots of comfy seating options but it does get crowded very quickly. We opted for a beer flight. The beers we selected were very tasty. Highly recommend!

While in San Diego recently I visited quite a few breweries and bars. This tap room was one of the ones that would come back to. The staff were very good, with service and knowledge about the beers. The seating area was sprawled over inside and outside areas, so no problem finding somewhere to settle in for a few drinks. The beer that I had was very good. I did not try the food though. I would come back here for sure.

October 2021: This was the best brewery we visited while in San Diego. Great beer (as always for Stones), great location and a Thai Restaurant next-door. Oh hellyea, Imafan.

Great atmosphere inside and out! Availability to order online with tab or go inside. Beer options were great, but no food. They do allow you to order from neighboring businesses and eat there. Options like Thai, Poke and sandwiches available.

Shocker.yet another location of Stone Brewing delivering a very enjoyable and satisfying experience. Beers, (ability to order) sandwiches, good people, great service, outdoor space, San Diego weather.what else is needed in life? Carly was holding it down on the inside area, and I do not recall the name of the guy that was primarily serving my liquids but he was very chill and welcoming. I believe this is the fourth Stone location that I've been to, and this Kettner location serves as a next-of-kin to the other locations I've visited. It's a very nice spot to take in the rays while sitting in the outdoor area that was constructed like a done-up backyard with lots of seating (if you have friends, and even if you don't).

Ordering was extremely efficient, idiot-proof, and prompt. I cannot say enough good things about my time guzzling Stone nectar after nectar after nectar after nectar at this location. The actual location and setup was solid, but the thing that really makes it thrive are the people working there. These are people that give off vibes that one could just hang with them, kick back, relax, drink Stone, and trade war stories from the Battle of Awesomeness. Thanks for the reminder of what I am missing from when I lived in San Diego. For now, I'm just a vacationer (the kind without Ken Vasoli).

Nice find! This cozy location is tucked into a very mini mall of sorts. It has a great seating area indoors with comfy couches or venture outside to the beer garden for some fresh San Diego air. There are good food options from nearby restaurants including a sandwich shop and a Thai place. QR codes are at the brewery seating areas for convenience. The beers are phenomenal…a reason for Stone’s global recognition. They are especially good at IPAs.
