6Strawberry not from their field. From warehouse. Too big, is f you cut in half, inside white. Like plastic.
Strawberry stands in this area are really a tradition. There are some really great ones around within a few miles of where I live. You will never ever get strawberries like this anywhere else. Great to support a local business as well which makes me feel better.
I just bought a bag of white peaches there, got home and one had a grocery store PLU sticker on it. If you're looking for locally grown, this isn't the place.
This is one of those local places that's so good you're terrified if you promote it, it'll get so popular you'll never find parking again. After seeing the abysmal photos posted of the outside of the stand (why? Why this?) I had to post my own.
They've got the sweetest strawberries, the juiciest peaches, snap peas that really snap- this is the best kept secret in Orangevale.
What makes these strawberries special? The breed- these aren't your grocery store Driscoll's, these seem to be some sort of heirloom variety and if I has to guess, I'd say Albion. Softer and smaller than grocery store but BURSTING with flavour- and they will stain things easily just like a real strawberry ought. Instead of the flavourless monster berries that are brick hard, these are softer without being mushy and as close as candy as nature can get. Been coming here for years and it's better every year! Now here's hoping there'll still be parking after this.
I bought for the first time today at this stand: Strawberries, Yellow Peaches, Cherries, Blackberries -$43 worth of produce. I took them home and more than 1/2 of the peaches were bruised and brown and mealy texture and poor taste, cherries had mold on them, strawberries were just okay - very disappointed and there is a reason that they have a NO RETURN POLICY it is poor produce. I transported them very carefully. They had put them in a box. These problems are not because of transport.
