StreetCar Merchants of Fried Chicken, Waffles & Beer reviews
21Sorry but this place was not good at all. Staff was very slow.they scream across the place to each other. Horrible experience.
The food was excellent. Nashville hot was a good heat on the chicken. Animal style fries are incredible. Definitely a recommendation.
Good food but after $18 plus a $2 tip for 4 pieces of chicken and a waffle. Dude said i had to pay for a honey mustard. Thats just stingy business ethics.
I didn't realize that they recently changed the menu and removed the Nashville hot poboy with the coleslaw, pickles, and hot peppers and replaced it with an underwhelming sandwich with lettuce and tomatoes and remoulade sauce. The "popcorn" chicken was just square chunks instead of the normal battered and deep fried version. Maybe that means that it's homemade and not from a factory, but it was disappointing. The remoulade sauce must have some sort of fish in it (Worcestershire sauce?) because on top of an underwhelming sandwich, I am now having an allergic reaction. Sigh. I loved the original sandwich and would bring people from out of town to this place b/c it was so good. The Nashville hot sandwich was obviously popular b/c there's a bunch of photos of it on the social media, so I don't know why they would replace it with something you could basically get at KFC. Considering the sandwich is gone and I'm allergic to its replacement, I don't think I'll be coming back here. Which is sad.
The cashier couldn't tell me how to make my civic faster and they don't sell anything car related
Had the chicken breast with waffles and eggs plate. The food was very delicious and the chicken was tasty and very juicy. The portions do not disappoint. Will be back again soon.
I like this place. It takes a while for your order to come, but you can't complain because this is true fashion made to order. The food taste good and the customer service was good and friendly
Waiting for 30 mins every time you order chicken here is unacceptable. I get that it is freshly fried, but waiting 35 minutes to eat two pieces of chicken when there was no one else in the restaurant just seems excessive! For that reason alone, I would not go back.
Not sure what happened, the food used to be great and then declined in quality all at once, as if lower quality ingredients for the sake of saving money have been brought in. The craft sodas stopped at the same time too, change in management maybe? Not sure, either way the staff is great and the food is still halfway decent but it declined a lot.
Fried chicken was great. Diverse beer selection for those who drink it. I miss the donuts from the launch but the chicken and waffle did not disappoint.
Best chicken in San Diego! This place can be referred to as the Roscoe's Chicken And Waffles of San Diego.
The chicken is great, but after multiple trips I don’t think I’ll be coming back. I’m not usually picky about service, but it pretty much doesn’t exist here. Multiple experiences of excessive wait for one person’s meal in the party and rude employees ruined the place for me. Edit - they compensated my friend with cookies, and were more polite before we left.
They used to sell the most delicious donuts. Not anymore. They sell great beer and fried chicken though but it takes a long wait while they cook it fresh.
I was sadly disappointed. First they no longer serve doughnuts. Second the chicken was overcooked and lacked flavor. Third the biscuits were dry and salty and the loaded potatoes lacked salt. The waffle was ok and the mac and cheese was ok. 3 strikes. Overall unimpressed.
One of the best chicken places to eat in town everything's made to order Kentucky style chicken with a plethora of sides and flavors great little restaurant in North Park would recommend it to anybody who likes Fried Chicken or hasn't found a place that they like to eat chicken they beat the pants off of KFC LOL
Fried chicken is excellent and staff friendly, but when they say their food isn't fast, they're not kidding! It took 40 minutes from placing the order to getting our food (no exaggeration!), which made lunch a bit of a slog.
I'm all about supporting black business, but the price was just too high. Just not worth it. To me it seems as though they don't care about the customer, only lining their coffers.
NEVER EAT AT THIS PLACE. We got violently ill right after we ate here. Customer service was atrocious. The lady that helped us was extremely rude. We were hoping for a nice meal for the evening, but instead we got the worst dining experience we’ve had in San Diego. AVOID.
Staff was helpful and the food was good. Ordered the Rachel's Revenge.which is popcorn chicken with red hot hotsauce. Then way charged $1.00 for the red hot hot sauce.
Just ate here with my family. Food was fresh but chicken breast was dry. Biscuits were pretty good, the strawberry jam was a good spread. The food was pretty expensive for basic chicken and waffles, they charge separate fees for everything from your entree, drink, sides, ext. The menu was also a bit difficult on figuring out how to order. Overall experience was just OK.
