Sturz & Abby Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics, Bakersfield CA

After reading reviews decided to give sturz and Abby a shot for my medically-complex child.
First 3 appointments were scheduled during “covid” and had to be cancelled due to illness. My son has an immunodeficiency and is sick often, all 3 times I called the office and informed them what was going on and was thanked for calling and told to reschedule.
I show up today for my appointment to be told that I don’t have an appointment (i was made one) and that they have a note not to schedule me because of my “no-shows”.
I would understand if these were legitimate no shows, but I called every time to inform them what was happening and every time was compassionately told no problem.
Whoever made my appointment for today clearly realized they weren’t supposed to and just took me off of the schedule without any communication to me.
The lady at the front desk was nice enough, went and spoke to the dr and he told her not to schedule me (because of my son being sick previously)
Maybe the dentists are fine, but my son couldn’t make it past the receptionist who wasn’t wearing any shoes.
What a joke.

We are very impressed with this dental office. The assistants and Dr. Sturz know exactly what to say to the kiddos to calm then down and give reassurance. I really appreciate Dr. Sturz being so personable and discussing the plan thoroughly. Office is clean and bright. It took 15mins for 2 teeth to be extracted from my kiddo. She had a somewhat disappointing first dental visit elsewhere so she was apprehensive. She came out of the exam room in a great mood. She even asked to return to get more teeth removed Highly recommend this practice!

Dr. Sturz is wonderful and professional. The office is clean and tastefully decorated. I highly recommend.

So I have been to many different orthodontists and this is by far the best one I have attended. I am 22 years old and I had braces on for 8 years. I been going to Dr. Ricks for 3 years and he does an amazing job at keeping my teeth where they need to be. There has been so much improvement since I’ve been here! Also, everyone is friendly and very welcoming. I would definitely recommend this place for those in need of braces. Thank you Dr. Ricks/Staff for everything you have done!

My daughter has had serious dental issues since birth and Drm Kurt has taken care of her with kindness, gentleness, and we are able to say he restored her health. Furthermore, Dr. Kurt considers the needs of his support staff and their children at the highest level. Valuing their education throughout the pandemic. Establishing a safe environment for the children to learn and hiring a tutor to help them navigate distance learning. This is an exceptional place beyond any other.

My son force me to give them 5 star that good they are

Dr. Abby goes above and beyond for my 2 boys, and the staff shows the same level of care. My son had a toothache and they saw him that afternoon. Couldn’t ask for a more kind and honest dentist.
