Sumer Nights reviews
15The service is sooo good the food is insanely good right when u come in they serve you water and soup soo good i will come every time
First time here. The place looks really clean and nice. Nice atmosphere and nice music. When I ordered I was really excited to try the chicken tikka sandwich… got in the car to eat it since I was really hungry… the food was horrible. At first I got 2 pieces of burnt chicken then I got a piece of uncooked raw chicken then it was filled with nothing but pickles and no tikka flavor. The only flavor was the juices from all the pickles which overbeared the chicken. Not good and no flavor at all. This is all the pickles I pulled out after I had some already I couldn’t eat any more pickles
Tried this place on a recommendation. We got a lot of food but it is just not my style of food. The soup was very good though.
Not enough servers. It took a very long time to get food. The busser was slow and there were people standing around waiting for tables.
The food is 10/10. When we arrived, the server immediately brought us bowls of hot lentil soup, followed by an appetizer sampler. The appetizers we ordered were not necessary. For entees, we ordered the dolma and the chicken tikka plate. The dolma came with lamb. Make sure to get the flat bread and hummus. All of the food was absolutely delicious.
Our food was delicious, it came out really fast and we will definitely come back. We did feel like we entered another place entirely, it felt like we were transported to another country in a very wonderful way. They were very hospitable and we love the vibes. It's so great this community has an excellent restaurant like this to add to the mix!
First time and had bad experience. I ordered chicken Tikka and ended up with dry salty chicken. Also ordered Dolma to go and was very salty ended up in the garbage. Spent $80 what a waste … don’t recommend at all …
We were looking for authentic middle eastern food while we were in the Sacramento area. (Our group was middle eastern and familiar with the food, from many different arab countries). We went in a couple hours before closing, restaurant was nearly empty but felt welcoming. We sat at the table for almost 20 minutes before anyone even came to ask us if we had been served. When we finally ordered, they were out of everything our party wanted (no beef or lamb kebobs or tikka sooo no mixed grill either). We decided to order the Araby wraps as it was late and a last resort. We tried both the beef and the chicken. The food took a SIGNIFICANT amount of time to arrive, despite being a nearly empty restaurant. In the meantime they brought us lentil soup which was tasty (albeit missing a lemon wedge that traditionally served alongside this dish in our house, so it was a little flat). Once the food arrived, we tried the wraps. It is not a joke to say the wrap was at least 40% raw chopped onion. If the meat had flavor you wouldn't know it over the raw onion flavor. And the chicken tasted straight up like hotdogs. We shared around our party and the opinion was consistent. Our wraps came with appetizer plates and half of the appetizers tasted from a can (metallic tasting), while the others were not bad.
At one point there was a child belonging to another part that was being disruptive so we asked the waitress to assist in asking him to leave us alone, and she actually sighed and acted annoyed at our request.
We soon left our plates (nearly a full table) uneaten, asked for the check ($90?) and left.
Having tasted many versions of middle eastern cuisine, both home cooking and restaurants, I'm not sure this is authentic. But we would not be back. While it is possible their kebabs would have been better tasting, I believe everything on one's menu should be delicious for the one ordering it.
They brought us soup without our consent and then charged us for it. And they already included a service charge in the bill without telling us, and then prompted us to tip.
Beyond AMAZING! Everything is authentic and homemade. Super delicious food and best service ever!
Impressed with this restaurant in Sacramento. The food is good enough. It can be made more delicious. Service is good but they take too long to prep the food over 40 to min wait on Firday night.
The atmosphere is excellent.
Oh my gosh.this restaurant exceeded my expectations in every way!
The food, service and lovely decor are wonderful.
The lentil soup served as a appetizer is so tasty. I would order a bowl as an entrée!
I adored the second free appetizer.a delicious mix of vegies, potato salad and baba ganoush. We also ordered the hummus. The taste was as good as the presentation!
My entry was the chicken Shawarma.
Perfectly done.
And our server was so on point and attentive.
You must try this restaurant.
We will return.
Let me tell you this Iraqi bread is so heavenly! Also their lentil soup is so delicious. 10/10 recommended.
The food there was prepared very well and it was cooked perfectly. The service was very respectful and kind.
It’s really nice place. We go every week couple times. They offer free lentil soup the minute you sit. I tried almost all their dishes, all of them are delicious. Very clean and the food was really good. I definitely recommend it.
We finally have an Iraqi restaurant that we can be proud of. I have tried so many Bay Area and Sacramento middle eastern restaurants and Sumer Nights dwarfs them all. The top items are the Iraqi kababs, Qouzi (Lamb over rice), Dolma, Shawarma and the most amazing rotisserie chicken, The lamb meat and the chicken here both completely fall off the bone.
The Dolma here is by far the best I've ever had at a restaurant. The bread is great and so are the appetizers. The place has a nice modern look to it and everyone is so nice and friendly. Try this once and it will become your favorite restaurant.
