Surf Bowl - Oceanside reviews
17Bartender rude! We’re British and live here. Go to the bar and ask for beer he says oh boy I hate your accent! I mean really. Otherwise a good night
I accidentally forgot to start a new game and an employee comes to me and starts shouting at me In my face and keep in mind I’m a minor I’m 13 and he is yelling at me just for not starting a new game and stole our time from us without a refund or anything so that’s why I say Surf bowl is a 1 star
First time bowling here. They have great specials during the week. It is an older alley but very clean inside. The outside needs to be cleaned up as there is trash all over the place. Otherwise a good place to bowl.
Had to switch bowling lanes twice and they still malfunctioned. Finally was able to get our money back. Not worth it.
What a fun place to take the whole family. We just went and even my 2 year old granddaughter had an amazing time!
The classic American bowling alley. This place is one of my favorites to visit. It’s not a party place, so if you want a quieter environment, it’s wonderful. It’s a charming center with good lane conditions.
Looks really run down inside and out. But staff is friendly, everything seems clean and in working condition, Incl.the arcades. Worth going to. It's like a time travel to the 80s
It’s bowling. It’s old. Don’t expect clean bathrooms. Nice people work here. It’s a family place.
Bowling alleys are not high end facilities, so I'd say this one is about as good as any. The 2 gentlemen that seem to run it are both very kind. The bowling alley is clean and the pizza was good. Overall a fun place to bowl.
Fun place.
Bar is small but rarely crowded. They have a strong pour.
Affordable prices.
Good for all size parties.
Everyone was smoking from weed pens when i was there. Smelled sticky.
Lots of parking and friendly atmosphere.
Not the fanciest but is fun and like a hole in the wall that is a gem. Their employees are nice and the food is good and the woman that works there is personable and friendly.
Staff were nice an helpful but place stinked really bad there was no food service hasn't been upgraded in years people in parking lot doing drugs won't bring my family here
It’s been more than a decade since my boyfriend and I have gone bowling. We ended up going to Surf Bowl in the evening and it was such a great time. Apparently they have buy one get one on Wednesday’s which is really nice. The alleys were clean and organized. The bar was great too, bartender made a really tasty margarita! There was a bit confusion on our end since we thought we paid per alley not per person. Other than that we had a great time and will definitely be back!
Rude, Racist and Some more Rude. They don’t see business as business and they see my money brown instead of green. Twice I have visited and when I asked for the options available the attendant pointed at a small sign sitting on the counter and gave me a look that said every ugly word in the dictionary. I pulled out money from the atm and tried to get quarters from the change machine and it was out of change, so I asked for dollars and he said the machines only took quarter and that is a lie, some of the games do take dollars. Anything I asked I was turned away. The place is completely uninviting, I sat down to wait for a lane to come available and I observed a few Caucasian customers walk up to the counter and the way they were treated was a complete 160 from how I was treated. The tone of voice they used was as if I was bothering them, they looked at my as if I was trespassing. Honestly it upset me being treated that way and seeing others treated with kindness and respect put me on edge and when the female at the front desk realized that she quickly changed the look on her face. I was the only Mexican in the alley and the only one without change to play games and the only one without a lane. I can almost guarantee that my lane was given to another family.
Waited to 1.5hours for a lane was told the wait is 45 min never got one only a handful of bumper lanes work I was 2 on the list my family waited patiently there whole system is flawed sunday funday wasn't fun at all they need new management
Great bowling ally! It's really fun on Friday night cause they have disc lights, there was a wait but it's worth it! Staff is very helpful, our balls got stuck and staff was there fixing the problem in no time. Highly recommend! Everyone that works there is very kind
A reminder of old Oceanside: outdated, uninviting, and oblivious to excess consumer demand. Why wait for a lane to free up if the grill and cafe are closed, the token machine is out of order, the claw machines are close to empty, the few video games available lack variety, the air hockey game is broken, and the antiquated lanes do not have automated bumpers for small kids (only two are available throughout the entire complex) ? I'm sure local bowlers who can grab a lane are more than happy with Surf Bowl's service. However, it was disappointing to discover this business has done absolutely nothing to benefit from the new Oceanside's vibrant customer service industry.
