Surf & Soul Spot, San Diego CA

Like going to this place the food is excellent. I was off 1 day during the week and was able to get something other than the food that they have on a weekend. Grilled shrimp and was good. Street parking is an issue, but driving around trying to find a parking space as well. It's worth the food that you order.

The food here is amazing! The chicken, the Mac, and the sweet yams all had such good flavor. Definitely order ahead so you don’t have to wait as long - it’s a very popular spot. Can’t wait to go back!

I enjoyed the catfish, Turkey greens and black eyed peas and rice.

This food always hit! As someone who cooks very well myself, I have to say this food is authentic and flavorful.

I usually get the catfish platter (even the fries are good) and my son gets the wings, which he loves.

I have had the catfish with two sides as well and the greens are so delicious! I also love their version of banana pudding, those crunchy cookies makes the banana pudding so enjoyable.

Highly recommend if you are in the mood for some real soul food!

If you are looking for Southern Soul food this is the spot. Everything was seasoned and cooked fresh. Large portions too. Don't waste your time going anywhere else. High five Great job team!

I'm from out of town and wish for delivery. The food was over the top excellent and will be hard to replicate once I get home. It was all yummy.and enough to share. My taste buds were more than impressed. Great job Surf n Soul.

First and foremost customer service was very good. Thank you for that! That’s important as far as running a black owned business. Secondly the food was very good and fresh the collard greens was very favorable this will be my go to spot while visiting San Diego. Bravo

The food is really awesome and the portions are great. Also, it tastes good even as take out. They do a great job of preparing it so it's delicious when you get home. This is the best value for excellent food.

This was such Ana amazing meal! The catfish was flavorful and crispy. The rice with Turkey gravy was a home run! And the collards were so good I had an out of body experience!

Sarajevo is an excellent proprietor. She was warm and welcoming. Her pound cake was delicious as well as her banana pudding. Establishment is clean and she serves curb side.

Customer service is terrible! Takes forever to get a hold of someone, if someone does answer chances are they'll leave you on hold forever before taking your order at that point they may be out of what you want. They'll hang up on you if you question being left on hold. This is why black folks can't have anything, taking things for granted and not appreciating every dime that may come thru there. You're just another number if you order from here, they don't care about you. Mac&cheese and yams are WAY TOO GREASY! GREENS ARE SO-SO. Oh not to mention, they may not open even when they're suppose to be. Lol, a joke!

Yes the food is great but make sure you try the banana pudding. It’s unreal. Creamy, crunchy, and smooth all at the same time. Perfectly sweet and balanced. It’s a pudding masterpiece served simply in a small hummus size plastic to go container.

Me and my wife had lunch at surf and soul today and it was amazing. They opened at 12 promptly. Ordering was easy and the service was great. We got the catfish and fried chicken. Comes with cornbread and dessert, two sides but we order an extra two sides. (black eyed peas and rice, rice and gravy, collar greens and max n cheese. It was amazing. I recommend it to everyone.

The food is excellent! Their daily specials sell out fast so I recommend going close to when they open. There’s not very much street parking but you can park around the corner

I had a big family order and they made sure to tell me the wait and how much it will be over the phone. The sales associate who help me was nice and made sure my order was correct. The food portions is enough for two people. The prices are very reasonable and fair for the amount of food you receive. The lobster tails platter was my favorite. I will definitely be back …

First impressions of surf & soul not great the gentleman that order my food was friendly and and professional. After ordering shrimp and grits as well as a catfish plate I was told the food will be ready within 15 minutes. I left went shopping at Burlington coat factory roughly 2 miles away came back 25 minutes later only for the employee to ask me if I had made an order which I replied I did after stating that I had come back beyond the time that I was told for a wait the bald young lady was giving me an attitude if my food order my was enormous it's not as if they had a long line they only took two orders and it took them almost an hour to get two orders out I will not be frequenting again.overall impression if you plan to eat here is I would be to call your order ahead if you want to eat okay food go ahead but don't go there for the service its shity. Makes for a bad overall experience most of the staff need to learn customer service and check their attitudes at the door

Food is great however it’s only for take out. So order ahead and give them at least 15-20 mins.
