If you like mold, the smell of sewage and toilet paper rolls falling off the holder onto the floor this is your spot.

This hotel was amazing. Right across the street from a delicious donut shop (the blended chai is a must) but the real gem is the breakfast nook tucked in the corner. AMAZING breakfast and if you like sauces …the sauces are. We had a wedding down the street and our family pretty much occupied this hotel. The staff was amazing 24/7. They have a great little porch outside of the rooms that we all hung out at. The cleaning ladies were Amazing.and my final but best compliment which now I’m reading in previous posts is maybe opposed.the beds were the most comfortable beds I’ve ever slep in. Obviously I think it must have something to do with personal preference. But my personal preference was met 1,000. It felt like i was sleeping on a cloud. Bliss.

We had an amazing time here. The rooms were very clean and the staff was wonderful. It was very close to our planned event and seemed very well placed to get to many great attractions. The ambiance at night was great, with all the little lights they put up. It's also right across the street from an awesome donut and coffee shop along with a small cafe. We will definitely stay here again.

Outstanding customer service from the owner Ankit. Rooms are large, spacious and comfortable. Great location, near the beach, easy access to 5 freeway. Hungry Surfing Donuts is right across the street. This place is a hidden gem in San Clemente.

Hey Surfbreak Hotel- get better mattresses, a comfy reading chair and perhaps a rug to make the rooms more comfortable for all of us 40 and 50 plus folks and I think you’d have broader appeal to stay here. If you are in a Prius, twenty something and want to be near the beach then you’d probably be fine. The mushy mattress, limited/very tight (16 total) parking spaces and stark rooms probably won’t bother you. Us? We literally flipped the mattress over in an attempt to get a better night sleep. Another funny thing - the two pillow offerings are either huge round rock hard or so mushy and flat it’s not even there. So at least bring your pillow. Alas - it did the job and I agree with a previous review…. Not quite hotel status. More motel vibes. Photos of flipped mattress and your seating options attached.

The room was super big and the bathroom as well, well decorated and clean. The only ‘con’ was the beds being too soft for my liking. Besides that, if you’re a light sleeper you may need some ear plugs because sometimes cars/ motorcycles in the road can get loud.
I like the layout with the space outside where people walk towards their rooms also has some chairs and tables to hangout.

First of all, when we arrived, there was no one at the front desk to check us in, so we waited approximately 10 minutes before called the hotel's phone number. A gentleman answered (it must have been a cell phone because you could tell he was in the car), he did not apologize for the inconvenience, all he said was "hold on.l'll be there in a minute" which I felt was rude and unprofessional. But that wasn't what upset me. We ended up waiting another 20 minutes, so THIRTY MINUTES total from the time we got to the hotel, to the time he arrived. Mind you, this was not an odd time-it was around 3: 00 in the afternoon. When the gentleman finally arrived, he did not apologize, nor try to explain where he was or why he kept us waiting. Unacceptable.

But it gets worse.

He finally checked us in, gave us the door code to our room, and explained how to get there, but when we got up to our room, it was not ready. The cleaning ladies told us it would be another
20-30 minutes, but we could leave our bags there if we wanted to go eat or something and come back. We did just that, but when we got back, our door was left wide open. Thankfully our bags were not stolen but I just don't understand why they would leave the door open, knowing all our belongings were inside.

Also, while we were walking down the hallway, one of the closets (where cleaning supplies are kept) was open and there were 805 beer bottles all over the shelves. Some empty, some half drank, but there were at least 6 of them visible to us as we walked by.

The cherry on top of this whole experience was the dirty, disgusting room we stayed in. Looking back, I should have taken pictures but 4 of our bath towels had dirt and makeup on them, and our sheets had blood stains on them. There was trash under the bed, the floor in the bathroom was sticky, and the mini fridge had crumbs and spilled liquid on the shelves.

I tried to voice my concerns upon checkout, but surprise, surprise, there was no one in the office/lobby to speak to.

I hate to leave such a negative review, but I have never, in my life, stayed at a more disgusting hotel/experienced such poor customer service.

Needless to say, we will not be returning to the Surfbreak Hotel in San Clemente.
