Makeshift outdoor dining aside, the food is the star here. The specials are truly special, O Toro and Chi Toro sashimi are amazing, if given the chance order as much as you can eat!

Friendly staff, I am not a fish person soo, first time eating sushi, it's was really good. The sushi didn't have an ocean taste to it, if you know what I mean. Would go there again! Loved it!

Sushi tasted extremely fresh. Great selection! Make sure to try the uni which we thought was phenomenal!

Outdoor seating available with heat lamps.

Was good.very good.but really lacking compared to 2 years ago when they were amazing. Watching the chef team
. They lost the fire.perhaps because the counter is not open and they are separated from customers.it was good, not great

This place has ruined sushi for me. How do I return to that swill served near my home in Michigan now? We managed to snag a table outdoors, but next time we'll be making a reservation for the indoor dining room. Dress up. Try sea urchin (uni). Wow.

This is a must sushi restaurant when you are in San Diego. I've come all the way from Jersey. The fish are high quality and the price are reasonable.

Visited Sushi Ota this past weekend and we loved every moment of it.
We ordered a variety of rolls and they did not disappoint. The restaurant was very clean and the staff is very attentive. Highly recommend to make reservations because it gets pretty busy.

Ordered Sushi Combo B, which came a variety of sushi (salmon, tuna, toro, halibut, etc), which is very fresh.
We also ordered the crispy eggplant with spicy tuna. It was very similar to an all-time favorite dish (spicy tuna over crispy rice), but much healthier. This appetizer is in the special menu. Highly recommend it.

If you are in the area, stop by Sushi Ota, you won't regret it.

The sea urchin here was amazing! It melts in your mouth, sweet, tangy, mouth watering taste. We also love the sashimi's especially my favorite salmon sashimi. It was very fresh and sweet. The service was good, the place has this authentic Japanese restaurant vibes, just like in Japan.

Must make reservations or good luck getting a table on the weekend. Sushi was fresh and good. Teriyaki steak is a whole steak. Must get the deep fried eggplant with spicy tuna on top.

Unassuming Japanese restaurant with FRESH and scrumptious sashimi: yellowtail, salmon, tuna, scallop (BEST). $140 for a full dinner for two. Reservation is recommended. Fully booked on the Monday night we visited.

Not that good. I'm sorry but is true. I don't live in San Diego, but by the places that I've been, this is not the best so far.

Incredible sushi and experience. Make a reservation and come see for yourself, honestly some of the very best sushi I've ever had.

Very pleasant staff. Although the wait time to get seated was a bit long, (roughly about 20 mins) granted that we alsp came at a busy time, food was good especially the green tea ice cream!

Fabuloso. I've never experienced clam miso but it's my new favorite. Also, I don't usually have the green tea, favoring a warm sake with sushi or sashimi. Both the regular and Barley we're delicious (detected the difference between "house" green tea for the first time). I now have a small clue why some of our good friends only drink green tea shipped from Japan). Sorry about going on but the sashimi was extremely fresh and flavorful. I almost wished for a duplicate of each to savor it on it's own before adding wasabi etc. Lastly mentioning the "Tuna Belly" (I hope that's right). Extra tender/smooth. I hope those are right words to do it justice. Best anniversary dinner in years. Thank you guys.
