Sushi Tomi reviews
19Service was great - we were immediately seated after we walked through the door. Food order was taken within a few minutes and the food came to the table pretty quickly. Would recommend!
I used to come here often when I lived in the Bay Area. I visited twice this past week with family and the quality is still great! The fish is fresh and the rolls are pretty big compared to most sushi spots. I also love that they have yakitori — the chicken skin was so good!
We ordered a selection of nigiri and rolls. The toro and hamachi nigiri stood out to me — delicious flavorful pieces!
I’d recommend coming right when they open, otherwise a line builds up pretty quickly.
This is a fantastic authentic Japanese sushi restaurant. The fish was extremely high quality and the service was great!
Excellent sushi in downtown mountain view. The quality of the sushi is very good and the prices are reasonable.
You can put your name down and wait outside. They are very busy, but they have a huge space, and their service is fast.
Fantastic sushi. This unassuming restaurant delivers outstanding sushi for a fair price. In addition to sushi, it offers quite a lot of other dishes to complement your sushi. I'd recommend the Tomi roll and the lidako as complement. The service is attentive and fast.
Keep in mind that this place does not accept resevations, you will need to write your name and number of people at the door when you arrive and you will be called when there's space to accommodate your party.
The flavors are outstanding and this is a restaurant that you will miss if you are not a Mountain View local. It is a do not miss if you like sushi and you are in the area. Also remember that this is not fine dining but on the casual side.
Japanese food without the fuzz.
If you are in the mood for Japanese but don't want the fancy ramen or sushi, Sushi Tomi will make you happy. It's just a regular japanese meal. With it's miso soup, rice on the side, salad and any entrance you want. Be careful with the schedule as they don't take reservations online and open briefly each day.
Bf and I had a great time out dinner on Fri. Went around opening time to avoid lines. Service was fast and efficient. Sat at the bar.
Ordered omakase (sashimi), plus rainbow roll, salmon skin roll (my fav), and fried smelt. Omakase was really good value ($65) but we were disappointed by the salmon which we liked least. Rainbow roll was average. Really liked the salmon skin roll. Smelt was underwhelming, just 3 pieces and they were covered by some sort of wet salad (which imho makes the deep frying irrelevant.)
Definitely recommend if you want good sushi, go early or risk a 30+min wait.
Next time I go I'll just get the omakase and a large Sapporo.
Haven't been here in thirty years, since we moved to San Jose. My wife retired from BHS. It was a convenient place to meet our son and daughter in-law to celebrate. The Sushi was awesome, the service was excellent. We closed the place and they were very gracious letting us stay a while. Just like thirty years ago, only missy Tomi? The little grandma like lady who liked to hold our son while we ate. He a few years later she named him the tobiko kid for his love of it.
We found Sushi Tomi while strolling around Mountain View and it did not disappoint. We got there right after they opened at 5pm and it was just in time as it got packed really quickly. Good service, cozy little place and tasty food. We had Kani Sunomono and a mix of different sushi rolls that were very delicious. Totally recommended, just keep in mind two things:
1. No Aaple/Google Pay
2. No fried sushi rolls
Cheers
Just like home! Authentic, delicious, amazing menu, great hospitality. It feels like I'm in Japan at my mother in law's house. I highly recommend!
Food is decent. Very fresh fish. Service always seems to be in a rush. Probably good given there tends to be a wait outside.
Food is good but the restaurant is small and you feel like you're sitting on top of the people next to you. They also don't take reservations and I don't do lines.
Super busy place but sushi is great. Very fresh fish. Converted my husband into a sushi lover. We shared a table with another party of two but we did not mind as we were super hungry and took whatever was available first.
One of my favorite sushi restaurants in the south bay. It can get super busy with a block long line as it's fresh sushi and prices are still reasonable compared to other restaurants nearby - even after the recent inflation.
The food is good, but it is too crowded in terms of seats. People are just all scrambled into small seats and sitting really close to each others.
Excellent find in downtown Mountain View, with an amazing and diverse selection of dishes. Arrive early! There is a wait - but worth it!
We really enjoyed our lunch here. We have also come for dinner as well. It was much less crowded at lunch time. We were seated right away and decided to order a large plate of Nigiri. We normally get the Omakase but decided since we wanted a bit more to eat for lunch we would just order the Nigiri individually.
The fish is exceptional quality and the serving sizes are just right. The rice to fish ratio was perfect. We really enjoyed our meal and will be back.
The sushi is great, no doubt about it. Bill is charged more than what have been ordered and served; should have a look before making payment.
Delicious authentic Japanese sushi from excellent staff that speaks Japanese and English, a busy restaurant always pack full of customers especially on weekends.
