Swami's Cafe Escondido

The food was great! Some stains on the chips from I don’t even know what. Looked green and I didn’t have anything green on my plate. Didn't bother to fill up our water cups. But the thing that I didn’t appreciate was how the employee “Lauren” wasn’t transparent with all the charges. We got our receipt and were surprised on everything she charged us with even how there’s an extra cost with using a credit card.

Bring a flyswatter.not kidding, wish I had one. Or 2. Was there Sunday, 10/15 at 10 for some visiting family. Not too bad of a wait, we were seated outside. As soon as we sat down, we were swarmed by houseflies. Not a couple, I mean like 20, in and out every few seconds, landing on the table and us. We asked the hostess if we could move inside because of this, she said it would be 45 more minutes (she was a bit rude, imho).

We spotted a different outside table that had less flies but we're told again 45 minutes. Decided to stick it out, much to our chagrin.

Couldn't even finish our meal, too busy fending off flies. An absolute terrible experience, I was embarrassed for my family as I had recommended Swami's (I've eaten at the Vista, Encinitas and OC locations, loved them all).

I will end this by saying our server was amazing and she was surprised the hostess didn't "warn" us about the flies. Yeah, apparently it's a thing? Not something you want to worry about when you're shelling out a bunch of money for a meal. Anyhoo. Lotsa other better options to choose from.

Needless to say, I won't be going back there.

Went for Breakfast and the menu had a great variety of healthy choices. Went with the stuffed French Toast, arrived very quickly with little wait. Food came out presented very nicely with fresh cut strawberries and blueberries surrounding the dish. I highly recommend this dish, not too heavy and very refreshing and healthy. The service was very friendly and always checked in on us with a smile. Went on a Sunday morning and was not busy. If you are in the area, I highly recommend you stop on by.

Every thing is perfect but the only thing didn’t like it was about waiters wear very dirty clothes. The guy brings your food from kitchen has a very dirty clothes and you can imagine how your food prepared. I was there many times but unfortunately every single time I shocked with the male people were working there.

I hate to be the one that says negative things but I ordered an omelette with vegetables in it there was more vegetables in it than there is eggs and there were huge in size they need to cut him up a lot smaller and put more eggs or less vegetables also I got with it fruits all the fruits had absolutely no taste the only thing that was decent is the strawberries but on a good note my friend ordered a club sandwich the club sandwich was Dynamite the presentation was great it had french fries with it the plate looked full for the money that's not bad but that breakfast it's not even worth $5 but believe me it's three times as much so I should have stuck with something else anyway it was a bad experience and I vow not to do it again especially if I'm going to have breakfast the server I'm not sure whether she was high on something because half of the time I could not understand what she's saying or maybe I could not understand her either way I'm not making excuses for her the other problem that I noticed if you look at the seats they are extremely filthy with stains so they almost look like velvet in a restaurant you do not put velvet material at all or maybe there's a different name for it anyway they are very much stained so until there's better improvements I'm not going there for those that don't care about what I had to say Enjoy bon appetit sorry Mr Swami nothing personal I just tell it like I see it

I do not know how someone can take pride in owning such a disgusting place. The food is good, but the service is terrible, servers are slow, there’s no enthusiasm, they’re not kind, they look miserable. And worst of all when you sit outside you are swarmed with flies. They literally do nothing about it. They do not put fly traps and when you ask for them to move you inside they tell you that you have to wait and be bottom of the list, even though they are not busy at all and you can see space inside. Do not waste your time or your weekend to go here, go to Carlsbad, much better service there.

Always great food, this one has table service. The other locations we’ve visited are walk up. Will return!

Nice atmosphere, outdoor, and indoor sitting options. Good service. Many items in the menu, with many vegetarian options.

Second time coming here, food wasn't that great. Husbands potatoes were cold. Ordered a burrito with black beans and it was swimming in bean juice. We ordered an Acai bowl to go and when my son was eating it, he discovered a strawberry that hadn't been cleaned, it still had the stems attached. Chairs were filthy and service was subpar. Will not be returning.

I went here on a Saturday morning and there were so many kids running around. This (maybe) shouldn't be a reflection on the restaurant but it was very distracting and they were loud!
Other than that, I will frequent this place again. We had excellent service and the food was good.

Our breakfast was phenomenal. The kids loved theirs as well. Good vibe, good service. Will most certainly return whenever visiting San Diego again.

Ate there once. My food was OK, nothing special, I expected wonderful food as people push this place. My wife thought it was good, however some time that night she be came violently sick. A visit to the doctor, the opinion was food poisoning. We will not go back out of fear. Was it a one off, maybe, but one and done we won't be back. Hopefully no one else goes through that needlessly.
