Tahoe Donner Cross Country Ski Center reviews
19Beautiful trails! Our group had a great experience on our first time trying cross country skiing - will hopefully return soon!
We were looking forward to skiing here due to all the great reviews. Unfortunately due to weather and road closures, we weren't able to make it. Posting a 1-star review for two reasons:
1. To call attention to their very strict and unfriendly cancellation policy-reserve at your own risk:)
2. The difficulty we went through to use their website to reserve trail passes and skis in advance, only to need to later cancel and not receive any refund, credit, or otherwise.
Great XC Ski center. Acres and acres of well maintained trails. Great staff both on the ski side and in the cafe/retail.
Nice place to cross country ski. Many trails for both skate ski and traditional Nordic skiing. Snowshoeing trails and dogs are allowed for season ticket holders.
I’ve had a great time skiing on these trails for the past few days. We took a lesson that was great and the staff have been super helpful about switching between classic and skate skis whenever you want. The trails are beautiful and well groomed in the morning.
Start is very helpful and friendly. Great food and snacks, especially the breakfast burrito
Great place to stop while hiking or biking on the many trails around Tahoe-Donner. We enjoy a cold drink while enjoying the view from the patio.
Love the green and blue mountain bike trails. Haven't tried the more advanced sections yet though. Friendly staff at bike works.
XC skiing is always excellent, trails are well groomed and kept and Adventure Center staff is super helpful and efficient!
Really nice crew working here.
Gear sale currently going on. Leki carbon skate poles with quick release straps for $75!
Very nice and accessible for anyone in a wheelchair! Went to an adaptive XC clinic here and loved it.
We had a great afternoon snowshoeing here. Clean, scenic trails and a nice place to enjoy a beer by an outdoor fire pit afterwards. Yes, it feels a bit much to pay to use trails, but it was worth not driving around looking for trail heads and dodging dog poop on unkept trails (an experience we’ve had on more than one occasion in Tahoe area).
I had never been snowshoeing before coming here, and I didn't really know what to expect, but it was such a great experience that now I'm eager to go back again!
We got rental snowshoes and poles from here, and the process was pretty smooth. The person working outside was really helpful, and noticed that we were wearing more layers than we needed, and recommended we put some of it back in our car. Definitely was a good choice! Even with the layers we left behind, we still ended up removing more layers as we were snowshoeing. During covid, only one group can be inside the checkin/rentals building at a time, which has an interesting nice side effect of you being the only customer everyone is helping once you're inside.
When we were planning this trip, we had an idea of what we were going to do, but really didn't have an idea if that was a good plan. As we were getting ready to start, one of the staff at the information table gave us a recommendation of a different path than what we had planned, and it was so much better than what we would have done.
Snowshoeing here was super nice with the dedicated snowshoe trails. There were some amazing views along the paths, and I loved walking through the different trees. Would definitely come back!
Such a great XC ski resort and great instructors! I did a one hour crash course in skate skiing with instructor Shauna in the morning, and was able to ski 10 miles with friends afterwards and apply all the things I learned. I can highly recommend the private lessons!
We heard about it and decided to see what its all about. Its off season but still beautiful. The family and i got to adventure into the woods on some hiking/biking trails for some fresh air and also find a geocache along the way. Lots of fun on the back patio and the kids all got to pet a horse that was walking by. Will definitely be back here soon
Excellent place to rent mountain bikes with bike trail next to it. Person at the counter was very helpful; she fitted us with the proper size bike. The bikes were in very good condition; brakes were great and that is appreciated in the downhill parts of the trail. The location also offers wax services and equestrian services.
Excellent burger. Fast friendly service. Outdoor socially distant seating available. Dog friendly.
Great center, there is horseback riding and hiking in the summer, cross country in the winter, and mountain bike riding for 3 seasons excluding winter.
Fantastic trails for biking in summer and skiing in winter. Nice cafe, bar and patio for when you finish your adventure.
