Bread is always over proofed. Pastries over baked.
Overpriced. Definitely over.

Erewhon has much better pastries.

It was delicious, besides a good variety of breads, good parking space behind besides the pleasant outside seating area!

I have tried everything on Tartine's menu several times over and, frankly, my palate has grown tired of their breakfast items, but I like their savory scones and pastries so every time I am in Silverlake I go there to get one. This morning after buying a breakfast sandwich at Erewhon (within walking distance) I went there to get my scone and eat both in the warmth inside because it is cold out. The male busser whom I had not interacted with and had no need to interact with given that I had only purchased a scone had the nerve to tell me I couldn't eat at their tables because I had a breakfast sandwich from Erewhon. Congratulations! I will never spend money at your establishment again.

Response to owner: Don't care for it. You aren't sit down dining. It's not like I didn't buy your overpriced baked goods to justify my presence. I've spent more than enough through my continued patronage and you don't pay your staff enough for it to be their prerogative to enforce what you consider to be a social standard that isn't really because you are an open air non-fine dining establishment that takes customer orders AT THE REGISTER with no waiters, hostesses or dedicated seating. Nobody shows me any respect or etiquette in my industry and I'm the customer in yours. Your disrespect already ruined my appetite on a Sunday and I'm not the first review to call you out for treating your patrons disrespectfully. If you had simply allowed me to eat and left me alone I would have been finished within 10 minutes and you would have avoided a negative review in the first place.

I had the egg sando with sausage - very good. Ask for the house made Sriracha sauce if you want a kick.

Also, I saw Keanu Reeves come in for some baked goods. Who knew that Neo likes croissants!

I love bread but it needs to be special. Whole-wheat sour dough coated with sesame. 1 loaf a week for me.

So nice to visit Tartine Silver Lake. Big fan of the bakery from visits to San Francisco. On my trip today, I picked up an amazing loaf of the country sourdough bread and a blueberry buckwheat scone. Both were amazing. Highly recommend Tartine if you are looking for a superior loaf of bread or something sweet.

So beautiful on the inside. You can see the hardworking kitchen staff, please give them a raise during this crazy busy time. The pastries are really good! I just wish they weren’t garnished with so much sugar: (I’d prefer a simple small sprinkle of cinnamon or almond shavings but just lose sugar. Hard pass. The baguettes are also good!

Delivers well. We liked the egg sandwich. Go ahead and order a loaf of bread and jam too - so nice to have throughout the week as a snack!

Wanted to throw up all day after eating their croissant.

I don’t want no refund, no apology letters. I just want people to be aware!

There are so many good restaurants here, and oftentimes you only think about if the flavors are good. BUT for this place, you gotta think about their hygiene status, you are risking your own health.

I like the semi-open space of this Tartine in Silver Lake, which has a great location as well. I've had pastries and bread loaves from here but my favorite gotta be the banana cream tart. Light, modestly sweet, really creamy and satisfying. The price went up recently and seriously I'm not a fan of Tartine pushing the 4% Employee Benefits tax to the customers.

If i could put negative stars I would.the house-cured salmon Tartine gave me the worst food poisoning I have ever had in my life, landed me in the ER, and almost ten pound weight loss. Very dangerous. After calling, the person on the phone was super rude and after emailing I received no response. Ridiculously irresponsible. If you eat here, at your own risk.

Airy and sunny with a menu that goes beyond pastries, this Tartine is a good spot for catching up w your friend, grabbing lunch, or leisurely enjoying your flat white. Parking is typical of Silver Lake area - minimum of a couple of circles around the block.

I walked by this cafe and I’m so pleased that I stopped in. Everything I ordered was fresh and delicious. The place also smells like butter I’ll definitely revisit to try more of their menu items!

Updating from 3 stars to 1 star—
I can’t with the customer service anymore. My first time back in four months after being a weekly customer for years and I was just scolded by the cashier for trying to exchange the incorrect breakfast order they gave me for the actual sandwich I ordered. My bad since I didn’t ask for a receipt, but don’t they keep a copy in their system? Note to future guests, check your to go order before leaving the store because, as the cashier let me know, they “don’t just give out free sandwiches. ”

Old review:
The food and baked goods here aren't too bad, but there are so many better spots in the city (even on the same street). What really sets a neighborhood place apart is customer service - which this place has none. I've been here around 30 times this year because it is close to my house and the to-go bread isn't bad; and I actually appreciated the slow service when I dined in because it forced me to take a breath and enjoy my coffee instead of rushing. But the last 3 of my 5 orders were incorrect, and I understand how stressed the staff must be, but that means a typical 20+ minute wait time doubles. Maybe management should take better care of the staff so they aren't so burnt out? Or at least a free cup of coffee for the guest while they wait the second time (if the Tartine brand is determined to overwork everyone the result is felt by the guests).

Try Clark Street down the road, amazing all around bakery and service staff. Courage is great for bagels, but with longer wait times. Maury's is wonderful as well and their staff actually recognized me after my second visit! (I don't expect Tartine staff to recognize me from my countless visits since it opened, but I always have a large white fluffy dog with me who gets lots of attention-haa!).

Tartine has made me feel like they just want my money, there's little pride in maintaining the brand, they abuse their staff, and there's no desire to invest in my neighborhood. I'm just a transaction number.

Delish crispy potatoes! I miss Tartine in SF, the vibe is different at this location, but the food is quality, yum

Beautiful space and good vibes, but the food and pastries are not good. The only thing I’d recommend ordering is the sourdough bread. Everything else is overpriced in comparison to the level of quality you get. The coffee is also bad.

I’ve gone back ~5 times, each hopeful I’ll have a good experience, and have left disappointed every time.

Tartine’s restaurant in San Francisco’s Mission district is quite good and much different from this location. Skip this location and visit that spot instead.

Great place to get some great coffee and pastries and hang out. Be on your laptop or have business meetings. For sure recommend the place.
