Taylor Creek Visitor Center reviews
23 Two cool trails here.
The forest trail is neat with signs telling you about the flora and fauna.
The rainbow creek trail is fantastic! Note: I've gone in June twice. Both times the trail is partially or fully flooded. When it was partially flooded it was very cool!
Only open weekends. Trail closed due to flooding (as of 6/23). Port-a-potties available but no toilet paper.
Starting 6/18/21, they only open Fri-Sun 10-4pm. Plenty of parking, portable potty for now. You can walk from Visitor Center to Rainbow Trail or Taylor Creek (nice beach). It's a short walk.
This place is great. Sadly, it wasn't open due to covid. Hope they open the cool stream profile chamber again.
This place is really something, especially in the fall when the salmon are spawning. There are trails through aspens and wetlands, viewing areas with benches and boardwalks that sometimes flood in spring.
The Stream Profile chamber is super cool, with dioramas of native wildlife and opportunities to view salmon up close, with lots of interpretive information. There are also rangers who lead groups of kids and lots of interpretive signage on the trail. You might see a bear fishing or a beaver if you're lucky.
There is a lot of parking and a nice restroom facility. It's a great place to take kids, but my adult friends were equally stoked the first time I took them there.
This visitor center was fantastic! There was as much information as you could want and the rangers were extremely kind and engaging with both adults and kids. The Rainbow Trail offers a beautiful walk through nature. We were able to push an umbrella stroller with zero issues along the trail. The Stream Profile Chamber, which gives visitors an opportunity to view a section the stream, similar to an aquarium experience, was definitely worth a visit. The kids especially loved seeing the fish and plants up close. Definitely worth a visit as you explore the Lake Tahoe area!
Watching the salmon run was a great experience, many, many thousands of beautiful fish swimming right next to me, and a treasure trove of knowledgeable randers with local experience about the parks made the trips that much more an educational and fun place to visit, the rangers in the store were better than a comedy club.
Always a great place to visit you can see nature and the Creek going by the nature center good place to go
Spectacular natural setting and user friendly access to enjoy it. Fall salmon run is a rare opportunity in the lower 48. Helps to get there early on busiest days.
Love hiking around Taylor Creek.stream view hasn't been open for a couple years? ! Saw great beaver activity!
Great walking trails, well maintained. The interpretive signs are very informative and helpful.
Beautiful views, nice short trail if you're not looking for anything hardcore and perfect for kids.
Wrong season for flowers but wonderful short trail. Good views, very informative personnel in visitor center.
Very helpful staff, a lovely walk and many friendly people all about enjoying the day. We returned a second day just to repeat the experience and jump into Lake Tahoe.
The line to get in here at 10 am on a Saturday morning in July was non-existent, compared to the one directly south of it.
The store had a great selection of items and the restrooms were clean.
There was a Smokey the Bear presentation that was happening, but we were not able to stay for it.
We hiked down to the beach and back with our toddlers on the Lake of the Sky trail and it made for a nice relaxing and leisurely morning.
I raised my kids visiting this region of the lake. It is an absolute must visit along with other spaces along the section of the lake.
We always stop here once on trips to Tahoe, especially with the kids. Decent easy trail with many educational information posted along the way.
The staff is wonderful friendly. Enjoy visiting here. They have many thing to do in the summer. This last Friday they had a play talking about Samuel Clemens aka Mark Twain. They also have a walk that you can come in the evening on bats. They also bring out an eagle and do talks on the wildlife and the amphitheater.
The trails here are easy to navigate, with nice views and good wildlife viewing. There is a large parking lot!
Walking the grounds was breathtaking.we walked from the beach, through the meadow, and walked along the marsh and creek. It was an easy walk that we will definitely do again.
