Nice national park lodge style hotel located just south of Yosemite.

Has great tours into Yosemite, place is good and comfortable and has a swimming pool and nice property.

Less rustic than a true in park lodge, but still creates that vibe.

There are s’mores pits and other kid friendly activities also.

Warmly welcomed to the resorts and provided all information needed for our stay. We went on the nature walk one morning with Sarah who was not only friendly but very informative - highly recommend the walk and tour guide. Although only one restaurant was open and the prices seemed high the servings are huge and can easily be split or shared. First food experience we ordered four sandwiches for lunch and wound up only able to eat half for lunch, the rest we ate for dinner. Ordered the breakfast burrito and omelet and fed four one morning. Four of us shared the regular wings and the carnitas nachos and had some food left over one night for dinner. Server that night was named Sarah (a different Sarah) and she was friendly and attentive without being intrusive, excellent service. Found the bartenders both in the restaurant and at the pool bar to pour generously. All of the above were 5 star.

Last night meal at the restaurant service was a bit lacking, almost felt ignored. My daughter’s Cobb salad came out with what appeared to be an eyelash on the chicken, salad was quickly remade but no one other than waitress came over to apologize or anything. Found out when we were almost done that there were specials that we were not made aware of either. (Rating 1 star).

Outside pool was nice, chairs and tables umbrellas were hard to come by, some seemed abandoned but it was hard to tell. More shade is needed. Other guests left their garbage and towels by their chairs, I blame that on those guests not the staff. The staff was doing a great job trying to keep up with the demand for towels. Went to pool with my daughter our last night after dinner and the pool had a rowdy group of tweens who were purposely splashing anyone or anything near them, no parent correction was made.

We would absolutely stay here again. Great location, staff is friendly and helpful. We had extended 2 Queen room it was very nice, a/c worked great in room. Bathroom barn door was cut a bit short on width found that strange. Staff were very quick to bring anything we needed for the room. Love that they give a military discount. Can only imagine what service would be like if they weren’t short staffed from covid.

Room and facilities were good. Grabbed quick breakfast-to-go from the deli both days on the way to Yosemite, great food and service there!

Disappointed at dinner at the "bar and grill". My ribeye steak was as thin as the knife I used to cut it. Only saw our server twice, once for drink orders, second time when she brought drinks and took food order. We had to flag down other staff to get the bill.

It is an hour drive without traffic to Yosemite Valley. Rather, it is very close to the Mariposa Grove giant sequoias (which is currently undergoing a lot of work).

The hotel is the nicest I’ve found in jumping off distance to Yosemite, yet can get extremely expensive. If you are going to spend most of your time out driving, hiking, or skiing, you’ll have to evaluate if you are getting much out of the resort itself. There are some good 3 to 4 star amenities at resort. They don’t make much of an effort to keep their website up to date, so call ahead to get a better sense of what is actually operating.

It is a lovely lodge, on nice grounds that gives you a sense of being in the mountains. It did not feel very corporate and staff was pretty friendly. Rooms were clean and not worn or dated. Could have done without the bathroom having a barn door.

When we stay the food was ok, but not great. We found some great food 15mins down the road in Oakhurst for less, but you loose the mountain lodge atmosphere.

The hotel, like many, has had a rough run the past couple of years due to COVID. Adding to that, a horrible windstorm earlier this year caused lots of issues for them and surrounding area. It is fairly impressive they have been able to keep things up as much as they have.

The pros…. Close proximity to the South Gate of Yosemite. Alayna in the restaurant was great and gentleman who worked in housekeeping and delivered extra coffee and fresh towels was friendly. Check in was efficient and friendly.

Otherwise, the place was a total rip off and we can only blame management who seems to be hiding behind covid to operate on a lean staff and cut services that don’t make sense. For example:

1. $800+ a night cabin and it had large ants in the bathroom and main bedroom. We called within minutes of arriving at the room and they sent maintenance to spray. Unfortunately, we had issues for the full 5 day stay. The worst problem was the master ceiling where ants were falling on the bed.
2. Restaurant servers were overwhelmed. Tables were empty and we were told by the hostess stand that they couldn’t seat until servers were ready. The first night our server was less than friendly. After appetizers and salad she was annoyed when we asked for clean silverware. She looked at my salad plate with silverware on it while taking it away asked if I needed that silverware to eat my meal! I am sorry but at $40 for an entree I think it is reasonable to ask for a fresh set of silverware. Obviously not, we went and got our own. But she had zero problem up charging our second round of drinks to the tune of $10 a drink by using a premium brand. Do yourself a favor and order drinks at the bar where a house brand is used without attitude.
3. Air conditioning in main living room was pouring water one afternoon. Maintenance came out and said it had probably frozen up but since it was no longer dripping and should be fine. An hour later, dripping again. Another maintenance person came out and he told us that the units were not installed correctly and that the problems are frequent. He opened and drained the unit and sent housekeeping to clean the floor. A day later, the unit was dripping again.
4. Our $800+ a night cabin includes a kitchenette and I asked for some dish soap. Spoke with housekeeping and was told they used to carry dish soap but don’t since covid. He suggested I include the request to offer this in comments to management. I left a message for the manager on duty. No return call although we get a daily text asking if we are enjoying four star service. What a joke. We drove to the convenience store nearby to get kitchen soap.
5. Know that the cabins are in a separate entrance from the main lodge. They are not convenient to amenities at all and as a result we didn’t use anything other than dining two nights and breakfast twice at the little shop. One morning we arrived at 9 am and they had run out of breakfast. We ate Turkey sandwiches for breakfast. Do yourself a favor, go to Oakhurst for grocery and we had the best BBQ for late lunch / early dinner. (smokehouse 41 was great!)
6. Our last night at the resort I called the restaurant and asked if we could do take out. I was told yes and to call room service which offers pick up service. The man who answered told me that the only way to see the “limited covid” menu was to come to the lobby, order and wait. I said that made no sense…we wanted to order ahead and pick up. He told me tough luck…. There was no avoiding a wait. Got it, but if covid is the reason you aren’t offering room service don’t you think take out orders over the phone are safer than cramming into a packed lobby of unmasked individuals? I asked for a manager who was kind enough to tell me the menu was online, no need to come in to order!

In all, it is clear that management cut back on staff and amenities during covid and now that things are opening back up are not wanting to spend the money to bring these amenities back. No room service, no housekeeping. We schlepped our trash to the bear proof cans daily.

We have stayed here before and loved it. Unfortunately, we cannot recommend a stay at Tenaya Lodge. Management needs to get their act together.

We loved our stay at Tenaya Lodge! The host accommodated our request for a room on the first floor near the pool and was super friendly. All of the staff were actually very friendly! One of the cool thing about check-in is receiving personal smote kits. Lil Graham, marshmallow and chocolate packed into a box.

Parking can be a pain during the evening with everyone returning from their journeys and you may end up parking on the opposite side of the lodge. Not a far walk but sucks when you have a baby and a lot of items to lug to the room. If you are on the first floor and park behind the lodge of the East wing, you enter and have to take an elevator to the first floor. The slowest elevator. Please fix that or allow people to use the staircase.

The pools can get crowded (indoor and outdoor) which caused pool towel shortages every time we went to the pool. Not a big deal but it was an inconvenience. They have a seperate little play area/pool for children adjacent to the outdoor pool with spouts and water attractions which was very cool. The bar at the outside pool was a cool commodity which serves any drink basically and you can order food. The food at the lodge was rather expensive and there aren't a whole lot of options but you can get a decent meal for breakfast and lunch. The food service is not open all day which was a bummer so we had to go into Oakhurst a couple times during the off hours of the food service. If you want pizza, the Timberloft has a good pie and is decently priced but was only being served on the weekends when we visited.

The rooms arent that big with double beds but they are big enough to have suitcases, get some sleep and hang out when not outside. You aren't touching wall to wall. Also, i don't like my coffee machine in the bathroom area. Kind of gross.

I know this review doesn't sound the best but it's a great lodge to stay at and the proximity to Yosemite is perfect. Enjoy your stay!

Tenaya Lodge was a decent stay, but it really wasn’t much to write home about. We struggled with temperature control in the room, as the fan would either run too hot or not at all. Our bed only had one very light blanket on it, and when we asked if we could have a comforter, we were told that they were not giving people comforters due to COVID (in May 2021!) and that they could only give us more of those thin blankets. The deli was convenient but overpriced, and due to COVID the dining options were scarce. However, I must say that the gift shop was more impressive than the one in Yosemite itself, so at least Tenaya has its priorities straight.
