Terranea Resort, Rancho Palos Verdes CA

This place need update in rooms and the hole facilities. Restaurants serving the worst food I ever had here period. The bathroom near Nelson were so dirty and smelly no up keep. For the money they charge they need to step up. Don't waste time here save yourself the deception of spending your money here. There are better places with a view.

One of the finest and most beautiful resorts on the west coast, let alone Southern California. We have been here numerous times and always enjoyed ourselves. Multiple restaurants on site, 4 pools, golf, you really don't need to leave the resort unless you want to, and if you do, access to the highways is easy. Warning, with CoVid and reduced availability of wait staff, service is not quite what it usually is, but it's passable.

I've been coming here since they opened for special events, to show friends the beauty of the California coast and just to get away from my daily life. It's my favorite CA resort for many, many reasons.

Excellent interior inside and out! I found this incredible place by accident, but I am very grateful that I found this place on time when I badly needed a place to stay then. Their crew from the front door was very helpful, welcoming, and friendly. He was able to help me find the best room to take a rest and enjoyed my stay. Such an amazing service!

Horrible service for this huge price we paid! We always need to ask more than three times to bring us water or food for our kids, and when they finally come it takes them 3 hours. Breakfast is overpriced and the service is horrible, nobody even comes to our table we need to stand up and ask someone to come. No cleaning in the rooms and they make you pay tips for cleaning. The valet service takes them too long to bring the car and you have to wait more than 30-40 minutes for them to come and bring your car. I don’t suggest coming to this place! Luxury hotel is supposed to be amazing, but definitely isnt

The property is in a spectacular location, however the service was horrific! We had major problems in our unit that were never resolved which made our stay miserable. Every time we called it was at least a 30 minute hold time. The kitchen in our casita was FULL of ants the entire time we stayed, and the fridge and master bathroom door were broken. The hotel lobby consistently had long lines, and one time I waited 20 minutes with nobody at the desk. When the person finally returned, there was no explanation or apology. Most of the time there were huge lines of people, about half of them had no masks on and there were no staff members in sight, or asking people to put their masks on. Extremely unsafe during a pandemic! We called many times (average wait time 30 mins on the phone) For the astronomical price we paid to stay there, it was not worth it. We will not be returning.

I had always been intrigued by Terranea and experience a place where the Sky, Earth, and the Ocean meet. The views were captivating, the side cars were good (to have been made without D'usse), and most of the staff were friendly and accommodating.

Property was beautiful, clean, and staff very friendly. Service is horrific. No matter what tume of day you call any extension from your room, you wait on hold for a minimum of 25 minutes. There was broken glass between the bed and side table. We asked for two days to get it cleaned. Never cleaned. Terranea represents itself as a luxury resort,
yet they can't even answer the phone.

Beautiful property, nothing less than first class all around. Once you are here you don't have to leave, everything you need is here. The restaurants are awesome, multiple pools from a family pool to a 21and up pool. The rooms are beautiful, we had a Casita and loved it.
Get up early, grab a coffee from the coffee shop and walk down to Terranea Cove to see the day begin as guides launch kayaks for tours.

Talk about a quick getaway that's local and beautiful makes you feel like you left the country this is the place to be for an exquisite experience

If you enjoy extremely high end price rooms with no Ac I guess it's a ok place and food that's 5 times over priced you will like the place it's not my kinda place will say the people that work there are kind and nice

Be prepared to spend, but the location and views are worth it alone! I love their adult pool area. The water slide is pretty cool too. The rooms are plush and cozy. A must see!

Service is terrible. They short on staff, no cleaning in the rooms, very long waiting for anything you ask.
Extremely long waiting in the restaurant for your food.
Valet services takes about 30 to 45 minutes to bring your car.

A lovely hotel.   We attended a wedding this past weekend that was fantastic. The ocean view, which was the backdrop for the ceremony, was breathtaking.   The reception was exquisite.   Hotel food at a wedding is barely edible sometimes but my rating on this meal was 10 out of 10.   I have never seen so many servers delivering the correct requested entree to each guest before in my life.

BUT.then there was check-in.

I booked the reservation thru the website of the bride and groom to get the discount on the hotel room.   It was very easy to do.   I then called a few days later to inquire about an early check-in.   I was told on the phone that an early check-in was not possible-"that was NOT done at Terranea. " I was told that check-in was at 4pm and when we arrive we could get in the room earlier if it was cleaned.   Check-out was 11am so they had FIVE HOURS to clean the room.

A week before the wedding I called the hotel and asked if I could call the day of wedding/our arrival date and see if we could find out what time the room would be available-again, the same reply, "we do NOT do that at Terranea. "

We arrived at the hotel around 2: 30pm.   At the front desk, we were told that the room wasn't ready to check-in yet but we could leave our bags with the concierge.   So we went over the  concierge's desk and the concierge was very helpful.   He said we could leave our bags with him and go lay out by one of three pools. He would send a text when the room was ready.

After being at the pool for nearly 90 minutes and receiving no text that the room was ready, we decided to walk back to the hotel and be at the concierge's desk at 4pm, check-in time.   The previous concierge was no longer there.   Dewayne was there behind the concierge's desk.   We asked if our room was ready.   He immediately said, he couldn't help us and we would have to go to the check-in desk.   We told him that the previous concierge told us to come back to the concierge's desk for assistance in getting in the room.   He asked our name and checked the computer.   Our room still wasn't ready and it was after 4pm by now. We told him that the wedding was starting in less than an hour and we had to get ready.   He said that the room was cleaned but needed a final inspection.   We asked how long that would take.   He went back to talk to his manager and came back a few minutes later and said the room wasn't actually cleaned yet and it would take 10-15 more minutes.   He then left-never to be seen again.   So after 10 minutes of standing in the lobby with our luggage, a lovely lady behind the hotel registration desk politely asked, "Can I help you? "  I replied, "I hope so. "

Within 5 minutes the this lovely lady had us checked into the room and we were on our way, obviously, to a different room.

It was 4: 30pm by now and the wedding started at 5pm.   There was no time to shower and barely enough time to change into our wedding attire.

Before the wedding started, we talked to other family members who told us that TWO DIFFERENT COUPLES got an early check-in.   So, obviously, we were lied to a few months ago right after we made the reservation.   Then a relative asked if we had received a SWAG BAG from the hotel because we were staying at the hotel and attending the wedding.   The answer was "NO. "

We spent over $500 for that night.   It was most I have ever spent on a hotel room.   We were so disappointed by the poor service checking in.   We hope we never have to return.

Burnt out lights in the room, dirty bathroom, bathroom sink broken and you can’t get ANYONE to answer the phone at the front desk and restaurants. Would never stay there again!

A gorgeous oceanside resort. Stop by Nelson’s for great burgers & beer with a view, and the on-resort walking trails are a must.

Shocking - overbooked and understaffed - not even close to a 5 star experience - not worth the money. Restaurants booed out, food orders wrong, served in paper bags with plastic cutlery, rooms only serviced every 3 days… get ready for your garbage can to overflow with plastic utensils. Had to stay at a Holiday Inn en route to here - better service there for 1/8th the price.

Completely overrated and overpriced! Zero room service, outdated and dirty rugs, loud location by the highway. Overcrowded pools, lack of staff coordination, overpriced low quality food. Would not recommend this to anyone.
