Thai Unique, Placerville CA

Update: (28 Dec 2022) My family and I went to Thai Unique for dinner and they were down a cook so food was super delayed. Bottom line: the food is well worth the wait.

(Written 4 years ago) I travel around a lot for work and I've been fortunate enough to visit Thailand. Thai Unique is spot on Thai food. Anytime I'm in town or near town I will make the trip to eat at Thai Unique. The only downside I've heard people complain about is the service being slow. I rather enjoy taking my time when I eat great food. I'm also used to different cultures having different standards for customer service so a bit slow for food service is no big deal to me for great food.

The food is ok. There broken ac wall unit is sitting in the dining room which has been broken for a few months now.

If a few hundred dollar wall unit can't be replaced I wonder what else they won't pay to fix.

A friend and myself had just eaten here yesterday.it was my very first time trying Thai food and can i say wow am impressed. We entered & the staff is so very sweet & polite and the calmness of the place made me feel like we were at home. The food here is outstanding! I was happy to see the prices are also very reasonable with a vast selection of options for just about every diet. Will be coming here again =)

I've tried a few different dishes and they've all been pretty good, but the Green Curry ("Thai hot" spice level?) is absolutely amazing! Ask for extra basil and thank me later!

Elie, our server, was fantastic. She was welcoming and had the best attitude. Got our food out in timely fashion and any alterations to our food was done with ease and a good attitude. Asked her a million questions and she answered them thoughtfully and thoroughly. Will definitely be coming back to experience her top tier customer service again

We discovered this little gem on accident a few years ago and been coming here ever since. The food is phenomenal. Authentic DELICIOUS Thai food. The service could use some help as it's new kids every time we come, but the food more than makes up for it. If you enjoy Thai food or want to give it a try, do not sleep on this place!

First time visitors the food was excellent. I've lived here 20+ years.never realized this place is a total gem!

I just moved to Placerville and I am so glad found this Thai restaurant, the food is really good and the service is wonderful. I am just trying Thai food and don't know too much about it. I have been back three times already and going again today, and YES they are open on Sunday. YEA

I loved dining here. It looks so pretty inside and the waiters were very sweet. The food was outstanding, flavorful and fresh. We had the fried banana with coconut ice cream for dessert and it finished off the meal perfectly. I can't wait to try some more of their food!

One of our favorite places to eat in Placerville. Great food at reasonable prices. Staff is always friendly and helpful.

This is the 1st time we dined here. The food was delicious and the wait staff was very nice, attentive and polite.

Mango rice desert was delicious, liked the yellow curry. Didn't care for the noodle dish we tried.

This place is amazing inside, beautiful and elegant.
The food is full of flavors, family portions and the service is great. I've had Thai food several times and this is definitely on my top 3 choices now. Didn't take pictures before digging in with the family but I will next time.

We have enjoyed take out food from here for years. They are very adaptable to modifications to items.

Hands down best Thai food I've ever had. I'm somewhat of a green curry connoisseur and theirs with seafood is perfection. They give generous portions so plan to be enjoying it for a few meals, score! They use authentic, real ingredients.

Highly recommend starting with the fresh rolls appetizer.

The staff there is so nice every time we go there. The food is amazing, the Crab Fried Rice and the Phad Thai are amazing dishes as well as the curries. Good service and it is usually nice and peaceful in there.

I've dined here many many times and loved the cuisine, especially the pumpkin curry.
However, I am giving two stars because the last two times in the past 6 weeks, I've ordered the pumpkin curry to-go, and both times I've found huge swaths of the outside onion skin in the curry sauce. It just is sloppy, unappetizing and makes me wonder what other steps were missed. Tonight's pumpkin was also undercooked. I dismissed the first incident as a fluke, but after tonight I'm wondering if there's a new cook or is the restaurant thinking cutting corners is normal?

This is one of the best Thai places I have been too. Located right next to Apple Hill we happened to spot it when trying to take a shortcut. Weston our server was so attentive. He knew everything about the menu. The food is priced very right and when the food came it looked and tasted amazing. The restrooms were very clean and overall the parking and ambiance is second to none. Highly recommend this place to anyone!

10/10 recommend out of all the Thai places I have been too in the area, this one by far has been the best in my opinion!
