The value is 100% location. Most other aspects of the hotel are average.

Staff is mediocre. Not hospitable. Going through the motions. It's branded as a luxury hotel so we thought there would be more excitement likes, "Welcome to the Ahwahnee, we're so excited to have you guys here! " It's more, "here are your keys. "
Front desk was the least hospitable of everyone we interacted with.

The room was solid. More cabiny which we loved. Tons of space.

Food was bad. Dinner was a low quality buffet.

Common areas are great. Really nice wood fires, tons of space to sit.

Due to COVID-19, staff was limited.
Paid $600. + for our room. Some of the wallpaper trim was torn off above the bathroom door. Repair of plumbing was apparent. In replacing the tile around plumbing fixtures was bad. Look like a child did it.
View was nice, was able to see half dome. Staff was very nice. Was able to access room before check in time of 5pm. Check out was 10am.
I guess if you can afford the room rates. You can afford overpriced food and drinks.
We were celebrating my sister's 80th birthday. Had a great visit with her and all her family who came.

Such an iconic place. Food and service are mediocre at best. Totally overpriced. I loved this place but the new owner Aramark has run it into the ground. So sad

It's a awesome hotel. I was there just to explore the spot but I saw the chitsmas decoration and it's really a cosy place.

Lovely native American themed lodge. Had a hot toddy with cider and sat in one of the large fireplaces while my clothes dried. Lovely ambiance.

Momma and I got to spend 3 nights at the Ahwahnee. Our first outing since COVID kicked off. The Yosemite Valley was exquisite. Rain fell our first full day there so we spent time in the hotel just enjoying the exhibits and absorbing the incredible ambiance. Our second day was perhaps the most beautiful day we have ever experienced in the valley in 50 years. As peak season was over and it was the week before Veterans Day the valley was almost empty. Our last visit to the valley we hiked to Mirror Lake and saw probably 100 people over the course of the hike. This visit we saw perhaps a dozen. Lucky timing on our part.
Food was a bit of a disappointment due to COVID requirements forcing meals in the dining room to a buffet format so food wasn't as hot or varied as we'd hoped. No housekeeping as expected but our requests to the front desk were met very quickly.
So why the 5 stars? Simple enough, it was about the people. Both guests and staff were very respectful of social distancing and making indoors. The staff, without exception, we're cheerful and extremely helpful throughout our stay. In fact, every staff person at every facility we went to in the Valley were the same.

Go. See. Enjoy.

This is simply beautiful and gorgeous hotel! We had breakfast there. Price is quite high, but atmosphere, people working here and meals are very good. Definitely recommended.

Location is everything for this rating!

The hotel stay was dated, very expensive (really not worth the price), parking is so far to schlep in the pitch black of night (plus your competing with everyone coming to eat and sight see), and the dinner is super overpriced!

Reminded me of the haunted mansion in Disney!

Always fun to go there, but lunch in the dining room has become unreasonably expensive. Due to covid, the menu only offers a handful of items. You order at the bar and pick up your food packaged in plastic take out containers. (I brought my containers home for reuse in an attempt to be environmentally friendly.) Not the Ahwahnee experience you'd expect. One staff person told us they hope to "get back to normal" soon.

The hotel is beautiful! You get a stunning views and nice room. Dining room is to die for. Decor style- native american meets Scandinavian castle.
However, The toilet was backed up and you have to eat out of plastic containers and forks in the dining room.for the price you would think you get at least normal fork. The covid restrictions are petty bad in the whole park though.

The setting is breathtaking. The architecture is stunning. The rooms are MEH. You just have to remember you are paying for the experience of being immersed in a fairytale experience and embrace all that is Yosemite Valley. Make reservations early at the restaurant - it fills up fast. Get a drink at the bar and sit on the patio out back as well! And do the really easy hike to Mirror Lake right off the hotel - it’s not crowded!

If you want to pay to be told what to do for mediocre beverages and food then.
The servers were all polite. Money spent better somewhere else. They pretend high class but treat like low class.

Look, there's nothing wrong with this hotel. It's a fine hotel, but it's pretty ridiculously over priced. Other than being conveniently located, there's no value here for the price you pay. The bar is so incredibly slow, you'll wish you had just stocked up on booze from the Village Market. There is one small elevator, so expect to just take the stairs. The 10am check out but 5pm check in is insane. If the room had actually been cleaned, maybe I could see the justification. But when I finally got to my room it clearly hadn't been cleaned well, there was still trash on the ground including an old stem of grapes. The hotel is historic (read as OLD) so having the sound of pipes gurgling all night long did not produce a great night's sleep. Some of the staff are super friendly, like the lady who runs the snack/candy store. Some of the staff are much less than friendly or helpful, such as many members of the check in desk.

Cool hotel. Look closely and you get to see parts of where "The Shining" was filmed. Drinks and apps in the bar are a little pricey.

A great period hotel with well done upgrades. The dining room is a beautiful space and the food is delicious.

The pics don't even do it justice. Atleast eat here, lunch was affordable and the dining room lingers in the mind long after

The BEST place to stay within the Yosemite park area. Stayed in the suites on the topmost floor. The rooms are excellent and give you a good view of the waterfall.

The Ahawahnee Dining Hall is breathtaking! And the food is awesome.

Had a beer, glass of wine, soup, extra large pretzel and enjoy the patio area of the Ahwahnee. Pricey Yes! Some might want to bring your own. Views are awesome and the history fun reading.
