The Barrel Room reviews
17Inside of the bar is smelling not so good. Outside, on the terrace was ok to stay. Many local beers, I tried the german hazy style Hefeweizen, nothing wow but still ok. The food was nothing more than average.
Brooks and Aaron made our day. They do so well at crating the best atmosphere. Sophie’s our usual server and she always knows the best drinks.
Server didn't check to see if we needed anything. Wanted to get another drink but server always disappeared before I could catch her
Great food and strong selection of wine with fair prices. Relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff that was pretty familiar with wine.
Prompt and friendly service. Excellent Wine. Delicious food. Will be coming back frequently.
Another great visit, great service, upbeat, and helpful staff. Food was served with a smile, hot and cold when ordered that way. We will continue to be customers and spread the word about this establishment. We recommend the barrel 100%
Great wine and beer list with a variety of food selections. My favorites are the pizzas and the steak salad.
Went to meet girlfriends for a quick bite on a Tuesday late afternoon.
The food was ok, service was ok.nothing special comes to mind. So so place in a strip mall.
This local wine bar has a great selection of wine with indoor and outdoor seating. The food comes from a neighboring partnered restaurant that has a good selection of choices. The brisket sandwich was decent although I personally thought more of the fat could have been trimmed from the meat. A dinner for two with a glass of wine each came out to just over $100, as is to be expected from a wine bar dinner venue. We went at 730 on a Saturday and there was plenty of open seats available with no wait. The server was very friendly and accommodating to our few minor request. This is a cozy and quieter spot to take a date or have a casual dinner where you can hear the other person talking without lots of loud noise or conversations around you.
When you show up it looks great but then you have two waiters looking at you and ignoring you. They straight up treat you like you don't belong. I had my baby girl in the stroller and they still dared to insist on having us seat outside in the cold. They after start to gossip and I can hear the lady saying saying that we must seat outside. We clearly see a lot of tables available for us and they still dare to recommend us to get out of that restaurant and go to the other one across the place. This straight up felt like a real racist and a judge a book by its cover type of restaurant. Im sure that if to them you don't look like you got money they will treat you like trash. I wont recommend this place to anyone and id say watch how you dress because to them if you dress casual you don't belong.
Sometimes good sometimes not. I get stake fries, rare. Most of the time they are not. Hubby gets lamb chops, says they are delicious, veggies are usually cold. We like the place, but not very consistent. Also a little pricey.
For a wine bar, the selection of "fine" wines is limited. The wines are middle of the road, at best. The food, I've tried is good. Would be nice if the food arrived "hot" instead of cold or just warm. Maybe they should try covering the food with covers to keep the food warm in transit from across the courtyard. Or maybe pick it up and serve it when it is ready. In spite of my criticism, I like the joint. Will still frequent the place. Just serve the food hot!
Great food and a good atmosphere. Server was very friendly. Having the two different menus (one nicer, one more casual) is odd but fine. Definitely will be back!
Cozy on the patio even though it was cool and rainy. Nice food to share. Aaron is a very relaxed yet attentive server. Made our ladies night out that much better.
I wish I could find a place in Southern California that can cook a hamburger it's ridiculous I ordered a wagyu Burger medium know and it came well done burnt
The inside has a nice look and feel to it. A bit of a rustic feel and a bit cozy. It was noticeably quiet when my party went there.
The food was.not much of something to remember or go back for. Maybe The Barrel Room is not known for some of their plates.
For our appetizer we got the Barrel Room Brussels Sprouts. They were pretty oily and lacked flavor. Out of the entire plate there were maybe one or two good bites.
I had Chicken Parm which came with a Fettuccine Alfredo. The chicken parm was ok. Could use a bit more marinara and cheese. The Fettuccine Alfredo was dry, and sauce didn't have any flavor. Almost like the Alfredo sauce was concentrated at one point and watered down to allow more portions.
Another at my table got the fast food burger. The burger was fantastic. The garlic fries it came with had no seasoning, just a little bit of dry garlic garnish on it.
I went on a Sunday so maybe this might of impacted things a bit. At the same time though service and food quality should always be consistent. There are a few resturants I visit through San Diego that maintain that. Service here though was slow. Almost like one server was managing multiple tables. I noticed other tables doing the same thing my table was doing; looking around to see where the server is. There was a diner that came in about 15 minutes after we sat and they were probably VIP or something. But the balance between them waiting tables and them was noticeable. They had their food within minutes. It took a bit to get our appetizer after ordering. The same goes with our main courses.
The total was what got me. Other restaurants in the area have better quality and service for a more affordable price. Those places are generally busy. The Barrel Room as I mentioned before was kind of quiet. There were a few tables, but the sound almost hinted that diners were not exactly having a great experience.
