The Butcher’s Son Vegan Delicatessen & Bakery reviews
17We are big fans and supporters of Butcher's Son. Always so delicious. I went there on Saturday to get my Thanksgiving pre-order and to have brunch with my little girl. I was picking up a lot, so had many bags along with my cane to juggle. The GM, Judy, could not have been more helpful and kind. She made sure all of my orders were put in the bags, helped me to my car, walking the bags there so I could use my cane and get my daughter. Living with a disability and wanting to have a morning out with my daughter can sometimes be a challenge, but Judy made it seamless and easy. I appreciated it so much. Having Judy in this world made my Saturday so bright.
Jackfruit BBQ, pastrami, and whitefish sandwhich were great, something healthy salad also good
First off, the donut-stuffed pancakes are just as good as they sound. I can’t wait to return and order a million more!
Otherwise, I was relatively disappointed with my order. I ordered take out, which I’m sure affected the quality, but I still had higher expectations from a restaurant with such glowing reviews. My bagel was soggy, having soaked up an excessive amount of pickle juice from the pickle tossed in the container and unfortunately it was inedible. I’m typically not a picky eater but I couldn’t stomach a pickle juice bagel for breakfast. The tofu scramble was surprisingly bland, although it was a great consistency compared to other tofu scramble I’ve had.
I’ll be returning, but only for the pancakes! I may try the bacon, but I’m hesitant to try any savory dishes here. I hate throwing away food and dread the idea of having to do so again.
Some really impressive vegan dishes. But lowering to three stars because I just learned they use palm oil in a bunch of items, which is totally contrary to spirit of veganism and tantamount to killing orangutans and burning rainforest. This is most likely true even if it's "sustainable" palm oil, and even more true if (as appears from website) it's plain old commodity palm oil. Really sad and disappointed about this.
I go here often to buy snacks. Today I walked in right before a rush. I shopped for my usual items as I normally do, and an unfriendly potentially female-looking employee approached me and demanded I leave the store immediately as they were "trying to clear it out. " There was no regard that I had arrived before everyone else, am a frequent customer, and no one else was asked to leave. I already had my items in my hand to purchase, but was actually shopping for more! I asked "am I supposed to leave the store with your merchandise? And they said "yes! " Very rudely. They are lucky I came back in to pay after being mistreated so badly, as I actually left in tears after being yelled at to leave the store in front of everyone while I was just picking up some cookies to buy, and they have unfortunately lost the business of an extremely loyal customer who visits several times a month to stock up on snacks.
Driving up the coast this was the PERFECT vegan-friendly lunch stop. The service was fast & friendly, the space was clean (with a beautiful patio out back), and the food was phenomenal. The order of garlic fries would have been enough for four people and the B. L. A. T.was a superb blend of fresh ingredients. If you're in the area and interested in a vegan-friendly meal, this is a must-visit!
Everything is vegan. A ma zing! The garden area for eating is so peaceful, beautiful and clean. What a charming place to have a vegan meal. Great customer service.
Needs to be shut down for false advertising - it's all fake food. There's no chicken in the chicken. There's no bacon in the bacon.
Great vegan place
You get to eat in middle of rose garden in backyard! Love their Jack fruit sandwich
Flavorful food, large portions, very friendly and helpful service with sunny patio seating!
First off I am about as far from a vegan as you can be and not be actively hostel to the whole thing, but I loved this restaurant! I had the "Fried Chiken" sandwich it had "cream cheese" and was served on the beagle of my choice which was onion. It was great, really incredibly delicious! I almost wish they didn't call it chicken or cream cheese so I wouldn't be thinking well the texture is a bit different and could just focus on how delicious it was. In addition to friendly service they have a lovely back yard dinning area with a beautiful rose garden. Definitely recommended for any meat eaters wanting to take a walk on the vegan side!
Really delicious! Pricey, but the quality was worth it! Best vegan "chicken" I've ever had by far!
First time coming here, and not familiar with menu. When we arrived there was a lengthy line which made us think they food was good. Well the food options were good however the service was horrible. First there was a woman with short hair there being rude to everyone about standing behind a line and rushing the cashier to rush customers on their order. Her energy was so negative there was several
People in like who noticed and whispered. They have a rose garden where you can eat your food that is nice however it took them 1hr and five minutes to bring out our food. One sandwich took an hr. Maybe it took too long to get to us that by the time we were eating it wasn’t that great! I will never come back here
Was so excited to try this place, and it did not disappoint! Got the A1 steak and tater sandwich with fries, my partner got the Ruben with mozz sticks. Everything was fantastic and easily worth the price. My sando was eaten in 3 sittings it was so big! The ranch and blue cheese were easily the best vegan options of those sauces I have ever had. Definitely will be back next time we are in town!
I think TBS gets such high reviews because the food is vegan. If you judge it on its own merits the sandwiches are basic American large and sloppy fare with not a whole lot of finesse in the flavor (the mock meat wasn't particular exceptional either relative to other spots in the US and overseas). We found the service staff very efficient, friendly and hard-working on a busy weekend. Good overall, but not a standout.
Hello everyone, hope this review helps. My girlfriend and I spent the morning at grey whale cove just relaxing at the beach. We got hungry and my GF suggested on going to TBS. I've never been there before and I must say that the food is mighty tasty. I got the Chicken Parm sandwich with garlic fries and my GF got the A1 Steak and Potatoes with a Cesar salad. Everything is vegan so it's good for your health. I would definitely recommend this place to family and friends. When I'm in town I'll pass by again.
I’m not vegan, but I tried the BLAT sandwich at the recommendation of a friend and it was as good as any meat sandwich I’ve had, if not better. It’s quite expensive - a sandwich will run you $15 - but that’s just the price you pay for quality, I guess.
