The Cottage reviews
15Great lunch! Ate on patio under giant umbrellas. Very shady and comfy. Wife and I split the cottage club. Fruit as side. They brought out already split with two fruit bowls. So perfect. Outstanding hard working friendly employees. Good local beer too!
The food straight sucks! The burger wasn’t even cooked & looked raw. Total garbage! Best part is the staff!
We brought a party of 6 adults and 3 kids one morning and they did a great job accommodating us. The servers were great, very patient with the kids and able to split the checks easily. The food was delicious. Everyone was happy, would definitely recommend for kids and families.
Great location for a family breakfast. Wonderful wait staff, quick service and amazing food. No reservations but they have enough staff on to turn over tables quickly. The wait was short.
Had the Braised Beef Hash and Wild Mushroom Omelet. Both were fresh and delicious. Each had a scone with the meal and they were fantastic also. Parking was a challenge as it is in most of La Jolla. Service was prompt and the staff was friendly and polite. Will definitely be back!
Great staff that was very accommodating with dietary restrictions such as gluten free and dairy free.
Highly recommended! Super attentive service, VERY tasty food. Arrive early because the waiting time is long!
I'm not sure but the juice didn't taste very natural, it's the only thing to improve. Thank you!
My food was Excellent, however, not prepared as Ordered. I asked my waiter specifically to have the black beans drained, they weren't. My friend ordered and there was a choice of chicken sausage or something else. The waiter didn't ask. He wanted the chicken sausage and was given the something else.
The service here was sucks! Our server totally forgotten about us, but the manager came out to our table and was kind enough to give us freebie.
Trust the menu’s recommendations and get the staff pick. Absolutely best sandwich I had! Coffee was a level above average too.
Large portions, quality food, clean bathroom, quick and communicative service.
Really liked the place overall, and the atmosphere is nice too.
Enjoyed breakfast at The Cottage. It’s family & dog friendly (they brought out a real doggie bowl with ice water for my pup, which was much appreciated after the walk from La Jolla Cove.) I got the sense that the restaurant is highly consistent. Service was good & food came out quickly. Food presentation was nice but flavor was lacking - seemed to be cooked without any spices. Loved the citrus berry smoothie, yum! I would skip the cinnamon roll next time - it’s made more like a flaky puff pastry than the gooey doughy dessert I’m used to. The wild mushroom omelet was forgettable at best. Overall, a solid choice in La Jolla with something for just about everybody.
Wonderful food and a brilliant atmosphere with a ton of options. Can’t wait till the next time.
Eaten here for years. The quality is always excellent. Very large portions. Be patient always busy. Best stuffed French toast anywhere
This place checks all the boxes but there will likely be a wait. Fresh juices are delicious if you’re willing to spend the money. Service was great!
