The Cove on Castro reviews
16Loved the chicken sandwich with provolone and pesto. It is as well presented as it is delicious. I would highly recommend!
I've always loved The Cove, and this visit was great!
I had the clam chowder and I approve, which is good because I'm from Boston.
I also had the chicken sandwich, which was yummy because of the ranch dressing and hot sauce. The chicken was cooked well, and the bread was a good choice.
I just love coming here because it's a long-standing restaurant in the Castro with friendly staff.
Thanks guys!
Cosy and good for dialogues and rest between exploring! Love the new chocolate concoction!
Such a sweet crew! The food is fantastic and the prices are amazing considering the location. It's one of my go-to spots in the city, though it can get busy towards the evenings and at weekend brunch! I don't drink but I have been told their Bloody Marys & mimosas are excellent.
Had a western omelette, Very much a diner. One guy was running everything. If you want a cheap diner breakfast this is it.
Great food, great staff, economically priced breakfast for SF. The Cove continues to be a reliable, good deal in the Castro.
Classic restaurant in the Castro. Great food, great service and fun environment. This place has been in the Castro for decades serving great food and being a valuable member of the community. Watch the tv screens to see photos of the Castro through the decades! On a sunny day enjoy your meal on their colorful outdoor parklet.
This legendary cafe was there on Castro back in the 90s, and unlike many businesses which have disappeared, is thankfully still there! Sassy waitresses work hard to serve the breakfasts from the large menu and all is good value.
It wasn't bad. It wasn't great. I apologize but it just wasn't worth the cost. The biscuits and gravy didn't have much flavor. My eggs and I asked for were kind of runny. The service wasn't bad at all and everybody was quite friendly. They had the door open so it was kind of freezing inside. I think I could have found better choices in the area
I've loved this establishment for over 30 years. The food is always solid with generous portions for breakfast, lunch, and dinner Excellent selection of Benedicts including Irish with corned beef hash, a crab benedict and a smoked trout benedict. I love them all. The owners and staff can't be beat. They've always had a friendly, helpful staff who remembers you from previous visits and treat you like family. Great location to sit outside and watch the world go by. Highly recommended!
The food is good, but only giving it 3 stars because of the pricing. When you order pancakes and pay $12 for an order of 3, you should not have to pay an additional $2.50 for syrup. This was a major turn off. Prefer to go to Orphan Andy's around the corner and save 25% for food that is just as good.
A welcoming oasis from the rush of the Castro for many visitors and locals for over 49 years The Cove on Castro has been warming hearts and stomachs since 1971, and as you can imagine, we’ve seen a lot of changes over the years. We’ve watched our historic neighborhood grow, flourish, struggle, heal, and then open its streets to excited tourists from all over the country and even the world. Through all of it, we’ve been a warm, comforting constant, welcoming guests in with open arms, treating them like beloved relatives, and serving up simple, delicious homemade meals in a relaxed, feels-like-home space. Around here, we don’t just support the gay community — we’re at the very heart of it, and nothing could make us prouder. But we mean it when we say anyone and everyone has a seat at our tables. Whether you’re a twice-a-day regular or visiting for the very first time, we’re happy to have you as a part of the family!
Ideal place, with good food and magnificent service. We stopped to eat and the experience was very positive. Fast, attentive and friendly staff.
We ordered falafel and lasagna. Everything exquisite. 100% recommendable.
An excellent place, we went in to have a beer and ended up eating. Homemade poultry soup and pullet pork as well as a burger of excellent quality meat. Very friendly and pleasant waiters, in addition to speaking Spanish.
My fav breakfast spot in the Castro. Wish they still had that corn beef hash on the menu, but the Austin Burrito gets it done nonetheless
I wish I'd taken photos.
I went in because I wanted some caffeine after a 2 week hiatus- and their house coffee was just what I needed after many miles of walking. I stayed for the Club Sandwich and Lentil Soup. They were very nourishing. The diverse staff had one thing in common - their Joy. And I learned about a couple of wonderful flags I was previously unfamiliar.
